Drink service tip

I don't usually tip above and beyond that unless I have been using the same bartender or server for a few drinks...then I usually leave them a few bucks when I am done.

Your doing it wrong. If your going to have a few give them extra tip in the beginning. That way you should get better drinks. If your having beer or wine doesn't matter thou.

slightly off topic, but on the last day of our cruise when we went to Guest Services to change the gratuity amounts for the 4 tipped positions, the change form also included two additional lines where you could give a gratuity to any of the crew. You needed to know their name. Country and Department helps narrow it down, and they will show you a picture so you can confirm before they add it to your (and their) account.

Back on topic - if you have a favorite venue where you will be hanging out (Cadillac Lounge / Cove Cafe) give additional tips early on, and they won't forget you.

When we know we're going to be settling in for a few hours (like at a wedding) or be repeat customers day over day, I leave $20 right off the bat with our first drink order. From that point on, we get great service. In fact, 9 times out of 10 I get a nice smile and a comment from the bartender along the lines of "oh, we're going to be friends."
