Drink Mugs on Ebay?

I noticed someone is selling a couple drink mugs on ebay. Say they just got back. I just started wondering can they even do this? Will whoever buys them (if anyone) be able to use them? I would hate to see someone scammed even if not intentionally.

I was under the impression that you also needed a sticker or something to use it. How often do they change the design of the mugs?

You definitely DO need a drink sticker on your card now. Buying the mugs would not get you unlimited soda on the ship.

I haven't seen the ones on Ebay but I can tell you that the style of mug (and even style of sticker) has changed since I cruised last (in January/February of this year).

My guess is that Disney will start changing the designs of the mugs and stickers more frequently as they get more and more repeat cruisers and don't want to run the risk of someone re-using an 'old' mug.

I would be careful buying something like this on Ebay as you never know if it will be the same mug design as your upcoming cruise.

My 2 cents.

PS The pricing of the soda program has changed on the 7-night sailing. Now it is $35.00 for the program and you get the sticker on your key to the world card. If you want the mug in addition to the sticker it is an added $3.00 charge. I do not know for sure if it is working the same way on the 3 & 4 night sailings but I will find out.

Wow and I think they are starting them at $20 for 2 of them. Say they were just there..

Some people on Ebay love to scam unsuspecting buyers. I've seen the drink mugs offered many times before, with the implication that they can be used for free soda and no mention of the stickers. I've seen people sell navigators that are many months old for as much as $30, stating in the description that they are "not available anywhere else" (I guess my website and Dave's don't count when there are people ripe for scamming). They have sold the luggage tags that are distributed free when you put out your luggage, claiming that they are "exclusive concierge tags" and neglecting to mention that they are paper and freely available to anyone. One guy even tried to sell a "WD" insignia from the chairs in the Walt Disney Theater (he claimed it was given to him by a crew member).
Pretty sad...I'm glad that people who find sites like DIS don't fall for those scams, but unfortunately many people do.

I would not be too hard on people buying Disney cruise line stuff off E-Bay. I have cruised 3 times and still ocassionally buy stuff, not luggage tags or mugs I have enough of those. Some people can't afford to go so they buy this stuff. I keep everything we get being a collector. I never sell but sometimes you can pick up a real bargain. I saw a jacket onboard listed at $95.00 and passed on it. I bid and won the same jacket with tags from E-bay a few months later for $65.00.. As a matter of fact, I think I traded items one time with Inkkoginto. I traded a Disney B'day pin for a Castaway Club pin. Remember, one mans trash is another mans treasure...smjj
