Drew's Wish Comes True...

Plans have changed. Instead of going out with Steve to celebrate our anniversary I'm sitting here cuddling with Madilynn and watching Enchanted. She's such a funny girl.

Me: I love you my princess girl
M: I love YOU my princess mom
M: MOMMA!! You are the Queen and I AM the princess

LOL

She's dying for me to share her surprise for "Mrs Heather" Hopefully I can get it to work

Thank you Madilynn!!!! You made my whole day!
That was so sweet!

I so wanted to give the parents a big hug but thought they might think I was a bit nutty!

Yeah, you don't want to let everyone know how nutty you are. ;)
------------------

Love the fish face!

Awww..you were laughing at my poor Madilynn! How dare you! ;)

I don't remember ever seeing that giant Coke bottle!

Oh no, Madilynn has been traumatized again!! That stinkin' Tower or Terror! :rotfl:

Sawyer is sitting next to me and he LOVES the pictures of the characters at GKTW.

What teenage girl wouldn't LOVE a Barbie? :lmao: At least they're good sports!

Oh my gosh!!! I'm so glad Drew was okay!! You must have been so scared!

Thank you Madilynn!!!! You made my whole day!

Awww..you were laughing at my poor Madilynn! How dare you! ;)

Poor Madilynn is the cause of lots of laughs here. She's quite dramatic at times.

The Coke bottle was across from the Backlot Tour building.

I think Tower of Terror will be one of the memories from this trip that Ryan & Madilynn never forget. I told them I would take them to disney so we could ride it again, they asked to stay home. And to think it wasn't them that was scared to ride it.

The Characters at GKTW were so awesome. It's been a long time I've seen characters like that movin and groovin with the kids. Madilynn loved that the most.

I was glad the girls were good sports about the Barbies. Meagan still has a huge tote of all her barbies and a shelf of unopened ones in her closet. It brought a good laugh :)

I still get butterflies in my stomach when I think of that night with Drew. I am so glad we were being watched over

Our morning started early. Drew was up about 2am with a tummy ache. I had him climb into bed with us and rubbed his tummy. He rested off and on until about 5 am and then was able to sleep peacefully for the next few hours. When the alarm went off at 7:30 I wanted to chuck it out the window.

We got everyone up and ready and off we headed to breakfast at the Gingerbread House.
DSCN9801.jpg

Everyone was so kind there. The food was yummy too. We were all really tired so we took our time. Mom & Brittany had decided to take a day off and would stay at the hotel until MVMCP that night.

And we were off to Universal Studios Island of Adventure. We couldn’t wait to get to Seussville. The plan was to see the attractions here that we wanted to see and then we would head over to Universal for the ET ride and to see Scooby.

We parked and made the trek into IOA.
DSCN9889.jpg

My big boys love Forrest Gump and thought this was too cool.
DSCN9886.jpg

First stop was to see Spidey.
DSCN9892.jpg

Seussville was amazing. I love Dr Seuss. There were so many little details I wanted to capture. Meagan told me “Mom, lets actually have some fun instead of just pictures of us having fun” LOL

DSCN9917.jpg

So after a few more pics they rode the carosel. Drew didn’t feel like riding so I sat with him. They rode the fish ride. I had that song stuck in my head the rest of the afternoon.
DSCN9922.jpg
DSCN9923.jpg

Then we headed off to the Cat and the Hat ride. It was too cute!
DSCN9906.jpg
DSCN9908.jpg

As we were walking over to see the Grinch Wholio the Who stopped us. He was so funny.
DSCN9929.jpg

Wholeo: Raise your right hand and repeat after me. I promise
Drew: I promise
DSCN99301.jpg

Wholeo: to clean
Drew: to clean
Wholeo: my brother’s room
Drew: NO WAY!!!! His room is a MESS!
DSCN99311.jpg

Wholeo: Alright! Which one of you has the messy room?
Ryan: UM… I do. BUT my mom and dad cleaned it
DSCN99321.jpg

Wholeo went on to read Ryan the riot act about cleaning his room. Ryan told him it was too hard to clean by himself so Wholio told him what he needed to do.
DSCN99331.jpg

Wholeo: OK I’m going to tell you how to get your room clean by yourself.
Ryan: COOL
Wholeo: Take everything on the floor and shove it in his room (pointing to Drew)
Ryan: (laughing) Cool!
DSCN99341.jpg

Zander: But then mom will tell him to clean our room
Wholeo: Then shove it back in his room (pointing to Ryan)
Zander: Mom will check both rooms
DSCN99351.jpg

Wholeo thought for a few minutes and then said: “OK so the mess from his room went to your room and then back to his room and now, shove it in MOM’S room and then say “Mom, you really need to clean your room”
DSCN99361.jpg

They all laughed and thought that was great fun. A huge crowd had gathered around us by this time to hear the conversation. It was hysterical.

Next up was a visit with the Grinch. They boys were so excited to see him. He was GREAT! He made sure to out burp Ryan LOL
DSCN99381.jpg

Then we ran into Sam and Guy. Meagan was standing back with us while the kids had their books signed so they asked Meagan if she was too good to be in pics LOL So she’s in the picture with Sam and Guy too.
DSCN99531.jpg

DSCN99491.jpg
DSCN99501.jpg

Madilynn was all about checking out the signatures -- the whole trip.
DSCN99511.jpg

We walked over to see the rest of the superheroes. I am so not up on them all. The kids like visiting with each one and all of them really took time with the boys. Madilynn made sure she got all their autographs, as that was the number one thing she wanted to do on this trip. It was all about signatures for her.
DSCN99571.jpg
DSCN99601.jpg

A little fun along the way...
DSCN99611.jpg
DSCN99631.jpg

DSCN99621.jpg
DSCN99641.jpg

Then we headed to Popeye’s Barge Ride. We love Grizzly River Run at California Adventure and figured this was close to it. I had read you get wet but had no idea! Of course Madilynn cried the whole ride. Meagan & her were sitting where they got the most wet. Every turn we took the water would come up over my shoulder and the girls heads. Meagan held tight to Madilynn and the boys all laughed it up. They thought it was great us girls were soaked. Then just before the ride ended the boys got their share.

Water was dumped from shoes and we made our way to Rip Saw Falls. I had wanted to ride that ride too but Ryan and Madilynn wouldn’t hear of it. They had had enough of getting wet. So we sat in the sun while the rest of the family rode.
DSCN99691.jpg

"RYAN GetOffThatDirtyGroundRightNOW!" "WAIT let me take a picture first"
DSCN99771.jpg

I can not believe how incredibly wet you get on those two rides. Definitely end-of-day rides.
DSCN99721.jpg
DSCN99741.jpg
DSCN99781.jpg

After we got the picture from Rip Saw Falls the kids all wanted to go back to the villa. They were all soaked and tired. I told them that meant no ET or Scooby – they didn’t care. I was a bit bummed but understood. As we walked back towards the front, pass the games, a man handed this to Madilynn. She thought it was so cool.
DSCN99811.jpg

Steve went to get our Grinch picture and the kids and I headed for the van. We stopped to have a Cinnabon while we waited for Steve to catch up.

Finally we were loaded up and headed back to the villa.

After cleaning up a bit and a quick change of clothes we got ready to meet mom & Brittany at Magic Kingdom. We had reservations at Tony’s. Mom’s favorite Disney movie is Lady and the Tramp so when I found out that was the theme for this restaurant it was a much do. Besides, who doesn’t like Italian food :-)
4.jpg

Somehow I had overlooked how incredibly long it would take to actually get to MK. I didn’t even think about lines but there were huge long lines just to park. Everyone else was headed into the park for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party too.
1.jpg

We got parked and headed up to the monorail. Mom and Brittany had called a few times to see where we were, we were late for our reservations. Thankfully the restaurant was understanding and got us seated about 15 mins after we finally arrived.

The restaurant was great. Our server did wonderful with such a big party. I was so glad they had sat us in a corner. That makes it easier when the little ones like to get up and “visit” the adults they aren’t sitting by.

The kids got drinks with light-up Tinker Bell for the girls and light-up Captain Hook for the boys. They thought that was great fun.

As we were leaving I had everyone stop by the restroom. This would start a trend for the night. Drew’s tummy was still feeling a bit yucky but honestly I thought it was probably due to swallowing some bath water from the night before. But then it started moving down the line. One by one the other boys started complaining of a tummy ache.

Thankfully Goofy sat for some pictures while we waited for everyone

Loving your updates!!! And all of the pics! :)

LOL...The Grinch Wholio (which I have never SEEN or heard of...sorry, guys...go ahead...shoot me!)...was so funny!! I think the kids should try that...put ALL of their stuff in YOUR room!!! :rotfl2:

Almost as funny as Ryan lying on the ground! And you telling him to get up...and then yelling to stay there till you got a picture! A TRUE DISER!!!! :rotfl:

I love all of the characters you guys got to see! :) Sounds like a fun day! :)

But MVMCP is coming up, right! ? :) Is this that day?

*** UH>>> Sorry!! I didn't realize you were still updating!! :)

I will be quiet now! Sorry! I feel like I interrupted! :ssst: :rolleyes1

Finally we had rescued everyone from the bathroom and we made a mad dash up Main Street before someone else announced the need for a stop.
DSCN00091.jpg
DSCN00111.jpg

We headed straight for Pirates.
On our way we got some Country Bear loving :-)
DSCN00171.jpg
DSCN00151.jpg
DSCN00161.jpg

We made it to Pirates– it was closed. We then headed for Thunder Mt Railroad but got stopped by the parade so we stopped and watched.
DSCN00283.jpg
DSCN00282.jpg

We finally made it to Thunder Mt and stood in line for a good 10 minutes before we found out it too was closed – someone had gotten sick. I couldn’t believe it. So we headed back to see if Pirates was opened again. Thankfully it was.

They boys love that ride and I was excited for Ryan & Madilynn to ride it. Ryan was a bit hesitant still because of ToT the night before but after showing him we had no seat belt (so it had to be a fun ride) he was fine too. They loved the ride.

Then we made a quick stop in for cocoa and cookies.
DSCN00131.jpg

And headed for another bathroom break. Thankfully the bathroom we stopped at had a playground by it. We played here for a good half hour waiting for everyone.
DSCN00191.jpg
DSCN00201.jpg
DSCN00221.jpg

Next up – the Haunted Mansion. Ryan and Madilynn were so scared to go. Gramma said she would sit out with them. She doesn’t really like the ride. I decided to sit with them too. We walked up into Fantasy Land to wait for the rest of the family.

We rode Peter Pan first. It was a huge hit for the little ones. They were 2 & 3 when we went to Disney last so they didn’t remember riding on this before. Ryan thought it was the best ever and asked to ride it again every day for the rest of our trip.

After that we headed across the way to It’s A Small World. Madilynn was in absolute heaven. She loved all the “Golly’s” This was by far her favorite ride of the trip and every time Ryan asked to ride Peter Pan again Madilynn would quickly chime in “And the Golly ride”
DSCN00341.jpg
DSCN00361b.jpg
DSCN00331.jpg

We stopped into Mickey’s Philharmonic. Cute show. Meagan and Brittany were ready for some bigger rides and with all our frequenting of the restrooms the night was winding down. So the big girls were sent off to see what they could see and we would meet them in front of Tony’s at midnight.

Steve and the kids rode Dumbo and then we all headed for Winnie the Pooh. Eeyore is mom’s favorite and Pooh has a special place in our hearts because of how he treated Drew on his first trip to Disneyland in 2001. We spent a lot of time browsing the shop there.
DSCN98671.jpg

Scrooge was at his tree farm when we excited the store so we ran to get quick pictures with him. At first the photographer said the line was closed but then saw Drew’s MAW button and let us in. I thanked her over and over. The kids were bummed they weren’t going to get a picture. They love Scrooge.

We started our trek towards the front, stopping to take pictures and video of the castle. It was one of the most beautiful sites ever. Standing there on that bridge, looking up at that castle was AMAZING! There was no hustle and bustle. You can feel the magic. You can feel the love Walt Disney has for family.
S5031194.jpg
DSCN00121.jpg

Thankfully the girls were there waiting for us when we got back to Tony’s. They had ridden the cars at the Indy Speedway and Space Mountain.

Mom & Brittany caught the bus back to their hotel and we caught the monorail out to the parking lot. Somehow we ended up taking a wrong turn and ended up on some dang toll road. We were so lost. I kept telling Steve to make a u-turn in the area that says “No u-turn.” He kept driving. I was getting irritated. We were the only car on the road – in the middle of NOWHERE. Finally we saw a road sign. Somehow we had looped around and Kissimmee was the next exit. Thank Heavens!

The kids had all enjoy a little nap while we were exploring that dark, scary road. It was after 1:30 when we finally walked through the door of our villa. Sleeping little ones were carried into bed and the older ones walked in and dropped (with a little help). I started a load of wash, wrote my notes of our day and climbed into bed just after 2am.

I have to run to bed, DH is waiting for me, but I read it all and coming back to comment later!

I love all of the characters you guys got to see! :) Sounds like a fun day! :)

Thanks Maroo!! It was a really fun day.

I had never heard of Wholeo either, but he was hysterical. We won't forget him now :)

Madilynn told the boys to "Member" if they put their stuff in my room it "diserappears" :rotfl2:
Almost as funny as Ryan lying on the ground! And you telling him to get up...and then yelling to stay there till you got a picture! A TRUE DISER!!!! :rotfl:
LOL yep, things we do for a picture

Before we knew it that blasted alarm was going off again. It was time to peel ourselves out of bed and get the kids showered and ready for the day. No one wanted to get up. So the announcement was made “If I don’t have to ask you to get up again you can have a 5 minute turn in the Jacuzzi” Madilynn was the first one in. Drew was ready as soon as her time was up. I sat right there on the side of the tub until his time was up. Finally the other boys were finished and all the kids were dressed and ready to head out. Meagan was so tired. She showered and was going to finish getting ready at mom’s hotel room. We had decided to meet them there and ride the bus instead of hassling with the monorail and parking the van.

We got to the hotel and mom & Brittany were waiting in the parking lot. Meagan was less than happy that she couldn’t finish getting ready. The bus came just a few minutes later. We made it down one stop and Meagan realized she had dropped her phone somewhere. We weren’t sure if it was in the van or on the ground so her and Brittany got off the bus and walked back to look for her phone while the rest of us headed to MK.

Just as we got to MK the girls called to say they had Meagan’s phone. Thank Heaven’s! She had gotten it the day we left. We went through the gates and waited for the girls. I was surprised how bare the front of the park was.
DSCN98681.jpg

We then headed up to Crystal Palace for Drew’s breakfast with his beloved pal Pooh.
DSCN98711.jpg

The kids loved the mickey heads on the table. The boys just piled theirs up, Madilynn sorted hers by colors LOL
DSCN98731.jpg
DSCN98752.jpg

The kids joined Tigger & Piglet in a march around the restaurant.
DSCN98772.jpg
DSCN98781.jpg

The characters here really interacted with the kids and Drew gave Pooh the biggest hug ever. I know it’s just a costume with a person in it and it’s not the same “Pooh” that we’ve had on our trips to Disneyland, but seeing Drew hug Pooh makes me cry.
DSCN98851.jpg

I think back to that trip 7 yrs ago, one that we probably should have cancelled (and had debated on doing). Had this not been a huge extended family trip I’m sure we would have cancelled. My mom, sisters, BIL, Grammie, nieces, nephews, Aunt & Uncle and one cousin all joined us. My little boy was in such despair. The medication we had to give him to keep his seizures down was causing horrible side effects. If Drew was awake, he was crying. He was just 2 ½ yrs old and there was little I could do to sooth him. He laid there on the ground at the end of Main Street and cried himself to sleep. We were trying to figure out what we should do. This was before you had to have reservations. We decided to have some breakfast with Pooh and then see if I should take Drew back to the hotel.
SDC10312.jpg

As we walked to our table, screaming Drew in tow, everyone looked to see what the commotion was. Steve went off to get the kids food and I sat with my crying son, wanting to cry myself. And then Pooh walked by. It wasn’t our turn but he sat down in a chair next to Drew. He started rubbing his paw on the top of his head. Drew looked up at him and the crying STOPPED! Pooh picked up Drew’s spoon and started feeding him his cereal. Thankfully my sister thought to grab the camera.
SDC10305.jpg

Pooh was sent to our table from Heaven that day. He was able to do what I, his momma, couldn’t. The rest of the day we were able to play and have fun.
SDC10308.jpg

Now every trip we take we stop to have breakfast with Pooh. When we went in 2003 Pooh again sat at the table with Drew. We had said nothing. Drew looked to Pooh and had the biggest smile on his face. It was like it was normal to have that silly-old bear sit down to eat. In 2005 he didn’t sit down at the table but had stopped by a number of times and spent a great deal of time with Drew. And this time it would be no different. No matter how old Drew is, seeing him with Pooh warms my heart and soul.

Here's the rest of the pics from our morning with Pooh & Friends

A few of us weren’t feeling so well and Drew was having a lot of seizures. Somehow Madilynn lost a nosepiece on her glasses and it was impossible to find on the restaurant floor. We sent Meagan & Brittany off to Tomorrow Land so the rest of us could take a much needed break at the Wish Lounge.

The gal there was so friendly. I forgot to get her name. She called her boss to see if they knew of anywhere we could get Madilynn’s glasses fixed close by. Nope. The boys played a game of checkers while the little ones rested and watched Tinker Bell.

DSCN9913.jpg

The girls had called a few times to see what was taking us so long. We met them over in front of the Buzz Lightyear ride. The boys were very eager to ride. It was ok. I was expecting more I guess. This was one of Steve’s favorite rides of the day.
DSCN9916.jpg

Zander, Brittany, Meagan, Ryan and mom went to ride Space Mountain. Drew & Madilynn weren’t interested in riding. Steve and I sat with them and saw that Mickey’s Night Before Christmas was getting ready to start so we decided to wait there. I didn’t realize I was holding Meagan’s phone so she didn’t get the text I had sent to let her know where we were. They found us just as the show was getting over. Even the bypass line was backed up so they had given them fast passes to come back in a bit.

By now it was time for them to head back so Steve and I took the other two to ride Indy Speedway. Let me just say It’s a good thing Drew isn’t old enough to drive! I loved listening to him laugh as we jerked back and forth though.
DSCN9918.jpg

DSCN9920.jpg
DSCN9921.jpg

We met back up. Ryan was too afraid to ride Space Mountain once they got to the front so mom and him ended up standing there waiting for the other three to ride. This was Zander’s favorite ride of the day.

Of course once Ryan found out we had ridden the cars he too wanted a turn. At Disneyland Autotopia is themed with the Chevron Cars. They are some of our favorite cars. So the kids paired up in twos and off they went. Lots of fun was had by all.

The kids took a quick spin on the teacups while we tried to figure out what to do next. The castle is so amazing. Hard to believe it was the same beautiful structure we had seen lit up the night before.
DSCN9922.jpg

And the big tree there that amazed the kids all week
DSCN9923.jpg

We had missed the Lights, Motors, Action show at DHS the day we were there and we all really wanted to see that. We had also passed on Fanstasmic! Because we’ve seen it at Disneyland. I had forgotten Brittany hadn’t seen it and mom said it was one of the things she had wanted to do.

So off to the monorail to DHS we went.

Ah, I love the Pooh story. How can anyone deny the magic at Disney?

Carol

There is no way to deny the magic there. Just looking at the pictures I can feel those same feelings, like I'm standing right there again.

If you lived in our house (or just knew us) at that point in Drew's life you would never doubt magic again. We spent six days in California that year. After that breakfast with Pooh all we had to do is hand Drew his stuffed Pooh bear and the crying stopped.

Thanks to the heads up on the DIS the kids rode up front on the monorail
DSCN9925.jpg

As we entered we caught the tail end of the Block Party Bash. Part of me was thankful but I know Ryan would have loved it. He danced and danced with them on our last trip to Disneyland in 2005.

We made a dash for the Lights, Motor, Action show. I sent Steve and Ryan ahead to ensure seats for us. Finally we were all seated. My feet were so tired. I have to say this show is AMAZING! I am so glad we took the time to go back for it. It was Meagan’s and mine’s favorite activity of the day.

Thankfully Toy Story Midway Mania was open this time. What a cool ride! I could have ridden it a few more times and still gone back for more. All of us thought this was a definite highlight to our day.

Mom and I took Ryan, Madilynn and Drew to get a spot in line for Fantasmic! While Steve and Zander headed over to get one last ride on the Rocking Roller Coaster and Brittany and Meagan headed for one last ride on Tower of Terror.
DSCN9985.jpg
DSCN9986.jpg
DSCN9987.jpg

Fanstamic was just as wonderful as we remember. As I sat there with Drew leaning back on me, peace came over me. There are so many things in our lives that scare us and so many times we could choose to just give up but when we take control and persevere we will always win. As we sat there and he seized off and on I was thankful for my son – just the way he is. As much as it sucks, seizures are a part of Drew and they will be for the rest of his life. We have a choice on how we live with them. Madilynn snuggled down and fell asleep. I couldn’t believe it. We plopped her into the wheel chair next to Drew and headed for the gates. Steve and Zander ran to buy their picture from RR.

We rode the bus back to POR. Mom & Brittany headed to get a bite to eat with their dining plan and we stopped by Taco Bell on our way back to GKTW. I tried to talk the kids into getting pizza again but after their tummy aches none of them wanted anything to do with pizza. We learned there is one thing Taco Bell has in common across the United States – they always mess up your order. Thankfully this time it was Ryan’s food that was wrong and he’s an easy kid to please.

Finally it was time for baths and bed. I was a mean momma and made the boys all take showers and just to be fair, Madilynn had to have her bath in the other bathroom. No Jacuzzi for any of them.

I started more laundry and headed to bed myself, before midnight even.

We all slept well so getting up was so much easier. Meagan was super tired (she stayed up late talking on the phone) so she opted for another hour of sleep. The rest of us headed off to breakfast at the Gingerbread House. Just as we were headed out the train showed up.

DSC00139.jpg

Then the unthinkable happened : ( I dropped my camera. It landed right on the lens. It was dead. I about cried. I tried and tried to fix it but nothing would work.

We headed into the Castle of Miracles for Drew to do his star and the kids to make their pillows. I was just sick I didn’t have a camera.
IMG_0024.jpg

DSCN9999.jpg

I took as many pictures as I could with my phone. Then we headed to the Media Center to see if they had a screw driver I could use to try and fix the camera. The kids enjoyed watching cartoons while I saw what I could do. It wasn’t something I could fix.

We walked back to the villa to get Meagan and then went to pick up mom and Brittany at POR. We had to hunt down the ticket place that they had purchased their SeaWorld tickets from. We got so turned around.

Once we got to SeaWorld our first stop was the turtles. I sat on the bench pouting that I didn’t have a camera to document our day. Then we headed to the Stingrays. Steve filmed the kids touching them. Mom and I opted to pass on that experience.

Next up was Dolphin feeding. I wanted to make sure we got into that so I stood there to hold our place while everyone else went up to see the dolphins and alligators. The gal that was running the line for the Wish Families here was so friendly. She talked with all of the kids there and asked us how our trip was going. We met another family in line that was on their third Wish Trip to Disney World. Hats off to those parents. I can’t imagine having three children with special needs. They had to drive because of their daughters’ medical conditions – all the way from Michigan.

The dolphins were bopping up and down, playing peek-a-boo, waiting for us to come feed them.

We were first in to feed. The trainer had the dolphin lay right up on the wall in front of Drew. It was amazing. They gave a tray of food to each of our kids. I have to say this was a definite highlight of our trip – with NO camera. The photographers there did get a few good shots but I know we would have gotten more and for much less money. I'll have to take pictures of the ones we bought tomorrow because my scanner won't work :( and I keep getting a glare on them tonight.

We then took in the dolphin show, another amazing event of the day. It is so cool to see the dolphins interact with the performers. Mom, Drew, Zander, Madilynn and I sat in the wheel chair section and Steve, Brittany, Meagan and Ryan went up to sit center stage. Thankfully Brittany took a few pictures here.

When the show was over we were waiting for the mass exit of people and figured it would be best for us to stay put until Steve and the kids reached us. There was an older lady that was by herself that was in the way of other wheel chairs exiting. I turned to help Zander help her out of the way and when I turned around Madilynn was gone. I looked all over for her. I immediately notified the worker there and was mortified when he said they would wait until the arena was empty before making a call up front. I stood out by the exit watching every person that passed. Zander stood with the worker and my mom kept the other kids, waiting for Steve. Thankfully Zander spotted Madilynn. She had ran into the arena to get Steve because she didn’t want to wait. I was so relieved he had her and then I was angry with her for running off. I strapped her bum into the stroller and told her how dangerous that was.

I needed to cool off and regroup. We found a spot to sit by Kraken and the big girls headed in. They loved the ride and wanted to go again so off they went, with gramma in tow. They all loved the ride. Report was that gramma laughed the whole time – her nervous laugh. We had to have that picture too.

The Polar Express ride was across the park and we wanted to make sure to see it. Ryan didn’t want to ride but once we told him it was another version of Star Tours he was all for it. I think this ride could have been done better. You change perspectives through the ride and it just doesn’t give the same kind of feel Star Tours does. It was still fun though.

When you exit the ride you enter the beluga whale exhibit and the Polar Express Santa is there. We had our pictures taken and headed down to see the Polar Bear. Steve took the kids over to ride some rides while the rest of us headed into the arena to see Shamu: Miracles. The only spots left were in the wet zone. Zander had begged to sit in the splash zone for the dolphin show but I wouldn’t let him because I didn’t want him wet the rest of the day. So Brittany and I sat down to save our seats. Mom and Meagan chose to sit up with the wheel chair and stroller in the Handicapped section.

The kids rode the Shamu Express, which was the boy’s favorite ride of the day, Jelly Jumper and Ocean Commotion – Madilynn’s favorite. I was stressing they were taking so long to get in. We had to fight people off to keep their seats. Brittany ran to buy a poncho and I bought a towel to cover us. Finally Steve called to say they wouldn’t let them in. Brittany went to the entrance and told them we had their seats saved and in they walked. Steve and Madilynn stayed up with Meagan and mom. Madilynn hates getting wet. Zander was so excited to be in the splash zone. They start the show with a sing-a-long of different Christmas songs and they scan the crowd. They boys were so excited to see their faces on the big screen.

I have to say of all the shows we saw and all the rides we rode, this was the best. To hear little children say what a miracle is to them. To hear a father say the birth of his child is his miracle. To listen to the music and see such massive animals so gently and skillfully perform. The sax player was breath taking. To sit with family again, celebrating the Christmas Season with so many others. To cuddle my son while he seizes in anticipation of getting wet/amazement of the show/being tired. To know with all my soul that HE is my Miracle. God has given me such a special gift letting me be his momma. It was here, in this show, sitting with my boys that I could feel my heart being healed. This last year has been such a roller coaster for all of us. I know our Wish Trip would have been a amazing no matter when we took it but I honestly believe that for our family going at Christmas not only made it amazing but healing as well.

And even though we were in the splash zone, for whatever reason our seats stayed dry. The section on the other side of the platform took two hits to spare us :-)

On our way out we asked for direction to the closest Subway restaurant. Meagan had wanted Subway earlier in the day but it was the opposite direction from which we were headed. Steve, Meagan, Brittany & Zander headed in with everyone’s order. Zander started running back to the van for alternatives because they were out of so much stuff. Finally they started making sandwiches and Steve told them we all wanted Pepper Jack Cheese. When the worker said they don’t carry Pepper Jack cheese in any of the stores in that district they all answered with a “WHAT?” I’m sure the worker was more than happy when they said forget it. We can make changes to what we have on our sandwiches and what type of bread we have but don’t mess with our Pepper Jack Cheese!

Thankfully Downtown Disney was close by. We were headed there to the Lego and Disney stores so McD’s it was. The little kids didn’t mind at all. We didn’t realize they were closing a section of the restaurant and had sat down there. The little old man that was cleaning the area never said anything to us. He just kept wiping tables and stacking the chairs. When the lady at the table next to us stood up he took the chair right from behind her. We all laughed. We told him we needed both the tables and he asked how many we had. I told him nine. He brought over more chairs to squeeze us into that one table we had but no way was he letting us take another table. We laughed again.

The kids were in heaven in the Lego store. Madilynn got a bucket and went to the wall and grabbed a handful of any and all pink and purple legos. She was so proud when her bucket was full. Now the boys couldn’t ban her from lego playing – she had her own! The boys all picked out a set they wanted and we were off for some Disney shopping. Each of the kids picked a stuffed souvenir. Steve bought me another Steamboat Willie (my favorite Mickey). I know there was more in our bag.

With our money well spent, the kids with smiles on their faces and all our feet ready to be done we headed back to the van. Soon we were at POR to drop off mom & Brittany and we pulled into our driveway at GKTW just after 1 am.

Another successfully fun day had come to an end.

I'll get the park pictures from days 3-5 and the pictures off my phone added tomorrow and hopefully add days 6 and 7 too.

It's so fun looking back at our trip. Thanks for reading along with us
