Hello all! I am a frequent lurker and occasional poster on these boards. I am recently engaged but am not having a Disney wedding. From reading through these boards, you all are very nice and I hope wouldn't mind giving me some honest opinions!

I just went shopping for the first time to try on dresses and I found two that I really really like! I have already gotten some family opinions on which they feel is better (mom, aunt, and sister) but I would like YOUR opinion. This was the first store I went to try on dresses and absolutely love these dresses. There are two pics of each. The first one is a Grecian style and a little more plain, chiffon. It comes with a shawl, so you can see that in one of the pics. The second dress is more off a princess dress with the pick-ups scattered throughout the skirt. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!

Thanks in advance!

I really like the first one better...!! Gorgeous!:thumbsup2 I am not a huge fan of pickups or whatever though!!

I like them both but....I like the 2nd one better!! You look beautiful no matter which dress you chose!! :goodvibes

I like them both too , But my vote is for number two . You will look amazing no matter what you wear you are the bride ... they always look good

they are both so different its hard to pick. I think you should visit more shops before you decide though.

It's funny - I thought the exact opposite. I looked at both and thought that they were so similar that it was hard to choose! :rotfl:

Anyways, as I look more closely, I think I like the first one better. I think it looks sleeker and more slimming. The "poofy" look in the second one just seems too "little kid dressup" style.

But obviously since you're getting a pretty even split, they'd both look great for the wedding. I agree to keep looking though - you only get to do this once (hopefully! ;) ) so have all the fun you can!

homie, i am here to save you....::yes::

when i saw the first dress, i thought, wow!
this is the one.

that grecian style dress flatters your body so well.
it is very slimming on you. you look like a size 2 in it.
you don't have a swimmers body with it on.

it accentuates the curves in all the right places.

this dress is simple but elegant.
the shaw is not necessary with it. it is flattering but the dress is fine without it.

the tiara and necklace are perfect accessories for that style.

if i was getting married for the 3rd time, i would absolutely chose this dress.

the second dress is also lovely but compared to the first one, it is not the one i would pick for you.

the princess dress has a lot of material in it.
it swallows you up with all of that and with the long train.

i don't know what type of ease you will have with the princess dress when you dance and walk around in it at your reception.

you have to decide what you feel most comfortable in.
if you feel you can move easily and not have to hold part of the dress up when you walk, then pick that one.

pictures would look dreamy in either one.
but i still go for the grecian style dress.

See - Mac's much better with words than I am! :rotfl: Instead of sleek, I meant to say Grecian! And instead of poofy, I meant to say princess! ;)

I'm all for Princess gowns...me personally I'm not a fan of pick up dresses but that bodice is stunning on that dress and I like that one. either one will work for you though. Good luck.

I personally love the whole princess look. I love the bodice on the second one. But I do agree that for you the first one is more flattering. So my choice is dress #1

What she said! I love the first dress.

I love the second dress! My wedding dress was a pick up, and I love them.

I really like the first one in the second picture. But I think that might be because of the shawl and the way the train is swept around.

The second dress is nice, but if you've only been to one store, I would keep looking. There are a million variations of that second dress available. Maybe I am corrupted by tv, but I really believe you won't be indecisive when you find the right dress.

Both of the dresses look great on you, but the 1st dress in my opinion does not have the "wow factor". If it didn't have the train, I would say it looked a little prom like. Hope I have not hurt your feelings, but you said to be honest! I like the 2nd dress better in case you couldn't tell!

We're a friendly board, but we seem to think that both dresses look pretty darn good! Hopefully you weren't hoping for a clear winner after all the votes were tallied, 'cause you look pretty great in both dresses. :goodvibes

For my opinion, looking at just the dress I like the second one better. But I must admit that I like the way the first one looks on you better. It really does flatter in all the right places. You can't go wrong either way. :thumbsup2

I like #1.

I would have chosen #2 if the skirt was different. The bodice is stunning, but IMO it doesn't seem to go with the skirt that well. But I'm sure the pictures don't look exactly like they look in person, either.
