Dress Dilemma

I just found out that David's Bridal is having their $99 sale this Saturday. That's the only place I've gone to look at dresses so far and I only tried on four. I really loved one of them, but I wanted to keep looking just in case. There are a couple more places I'd like to look, but their websites don't give any indication of price like DB's does. Would it be weird/rude for me to call these places and ask for the price range of their gowns? I'm trying to save myself some time and frustration from running all over between now and 10am Saturday morning.

Not rude at all...I'd hate to walk into a store only to find out everything is a few thousand out of my price range...Just be nice and ask for price ranges of different dresses/designers. They tend to be very nice about it as long as your not making them hunt down one particular dress

Well, don't kill yourself to get the David's $99 sale! They have one all the time! And it's only on a few gowns, not all of them. They also always have some sort of sale. I've been several times I promise you won't miss anything! Make sure the gown you choose is the gown! Well, good luck! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I called one place and the woman actually LAUGHED at me and was very rude about me even asking :confused3

luvsmickey: That's a relief, thanks. When I went in to try on gowns, my consultant told me to wait for the sale in January, so I freaked when I saw that there is a sale that starts in 2 days! I thought maybe she gave me the wrong date or lied or something (paranoid much?). I think I'll take my time and just wait for the next one.

Gosh i'm sorry...where did you call?...I called a few places and no one ever has the nerve to laugh :confused3 ....cant imagine someone would rather you make an appt. and waste a few hours of there time instead of a min.

again sorry

I used to work at David's Bridal. JUst a word of advice, during the $99 sale, yes every gown is on sale, but only ones that have been discontinued and marked down to $199 will be on sale for $99. Don't get me wrong, I had many brides that found amazing deals. I even sold some of the Oleg Cassini gowns that had been put on the sale. But its more of a headache than its usually worth. Your consultant will try to close a sale and tell you there aren't many sales. False! David's bridal has a sale about 3-4 times a year. And even when they do say it only lasts 3 weeks, they will extend it another few weeks after that. Consultants generally won't tell you a lot of this because they work on commission. If you are going with David's I do have to say the best time to get it is when you will also get additional discounts on all of your accessories the same day. Good luck with the shopping!

Aww, don't worry about it :sunny: I called this local bridal salon near my house. I couldn't believe it either and definitely won't be stopping by there anytime soon.

I agree with Wendy i would have throught they would much rather spend a few mins realistically telling you information that for you to go down there and waste their time for an hour or so!

Just a heads up: if you subscribe to the David's Bridal newsletter thingy, they'll let you know exactly when the sales are running. I got one a few days ago that said the one starting on Saturday runs until November 20. When I went in last night, the lady who helped me said they were honoring the sale already!

I even found a dress originally marked $950, on sale for $199, and the lady said it will likely go down to $99 on Saturday (per someone else's post, I guess it's been discontinued)! It wasn't my style, but it's definitely worth going in to look around. Oh, and the lady said it's best to try to go NOT on weekends, as they are ridiculously busy then and may not have as much time to help you.

Good luck!

What designers are you looking for? www.Houseofbrides.com has a good selection of designers but not the real high end one- more in the moderate range like moonlight, mon cheri, bonny, jasmine, private label etc. There prices are most likely 20% off your local salon but it will give you an idea of range. There is also www.netbride.com which will email you a quote for some designers listed on their site. good luck.
