What is the dinner time dress code on regular evenings, semi-formal, and formal evenings? Adults as well as children. Are shorts permitted? Jeans? Are blazers mandatory for men? What about Palo? Thanks:confused:

Disney Cruise Line doesn't have a "dress code" per se. They have "suggestions" and a few rules. They ask that shorts and jeans not be worn at dinner in the main restaurants on any night. Palo asks that men wear jackets.

As for formal and semi-formal, there is always a lot of debate about those nights. Of course, considering the name of the nights, that should prove to point you in the right direction.

That's an excellent answer!

As an example of "a lot of debate about those nights," click on this link to a recent thread: Anyone Not Dress For Formal?

In answer to feiste's specific questions:

Adults as well as children? My opinion is that adults and teens should make an effort to follow all of the suggestions. For children, it's a matter of judgement. I wouldn't buy a dark suit or rent a tuxedo for a 6-year-old boy just for formal night. But if a boy already owns a suit, it would be worth bringing.

Are shorts permitted? Jeans? As ThreeCircles wrote, DCL says, "no shorts or jeans, please," at dinner. Along the same lines, t-shirts and tank tops are never appropriate in the three rotation dining rooms or Palo at dinner.

Are blazers mandatory for men? What about Palo? No, they are not mandatory. A man wearing long pants and a collared shirt, but no blazer or suit coat, will not be turned away at dinner, even at Palo or on the formal or semi-formal night. And there will be other men dining at nearby tables who also don't have coats. That said, I would strongly recommend bringing a blazer. A black blazer is especially versatile. Although a black blazer is not formal attire in the strict sense, it can be worn with a shirt, tie, a dress slacks if someone does not have (or does not want to pack) a dark suit or tuxedo. And it can be worn over a polo shirt in Palo. And it's handy whenever the air conditioning is set too cold!
