Dress Code

Okay so if it's supposed to be enforced- and it's not and very offensive- do we report it to CMs? Or is it once they get past the turnstiles- all bets are off?
I was actually going to say maybe they could hand out paper bibs (put on front or back- wherever the offensive "picture" or words are on the shirt) and it wouldn't be costly and they'd get a choice- either go back and change or wear this paper covering all day. LOL I see now you say they give shirts- so I guess they've already covered that issue- WHEN it's enforced.
BibbidyBobbidyBoo -
I live in Texas too, and I have to say Astroworld in Houston has a dress code, but it is no more enforced than anywhere else. Last time I was there there was plenty of girls in bikini tops and shorts that werent even zipped. We even saw a few getting off the water rides and taking there wet shirts off and walking around in just their bras.
Never been to Astroworld- but thanks for the warning. :)

I just wish I had the sort of butt cheeks to wear a thong. If someone is sunbathing at the parks I can't see the problem. If you are queuing for the slides, food, drinks then may be it would be appropriate to cover up. It doesn't bother me, I just get insanely jealous if someone is wearing a thong and looks good in it.

We brits spend a lot of time holidaying around the Med and it's pretty normal to go topless and to wear the smallest of bikini bottoms. Perhaps it's because of that that I don't see a problem.

Now I have a t-shirt that says (in very small letters) Cool as FCUK (which is French Connection UK abbreviated) and it's very commonly seen over here in the UK. However, I would not wear it to a Disney Park as I do recognise that Disney is for families.

I would also like to mention that I have a 9 year old son and he's perfectly normal and healthy.

If you are offended by something another guest is wearing, find a CM and ask to speak to a manager about it. They will be able to make a judgement. Again, it will depend on the situation.

Safari Steve is correct--dress code is strictly enforced. Shirt, shoes and no beach wear. Absolutely no sagging pants allowed. Challenges are men wearing bib overalls with no shirt and outer garments that when removed reveal offensive language and beachwear. If there is push back money is refunded and then "asked" to leave.

That being said, there are marginal issues that may be subject to interpretation and management/security will consult. The first Saturday in June has become a major challenge. Policy on Halloween costumes on Halloween has relaxed in recent years.

Most violators honestly have no idea that they've committed a faux pas. I've found that the best way to deal with simple shirt issues (open or removed shirts on men) is with humor: "Sir, please put your shirt back on, the men are getting jealous and the ladies are starting to swoon."

We don't see a lot of sun over here in the UK so it's a bit of a novelty to feel the sun on our backs - our men don't mean to offend honestly.

Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times.
Offensive messages/images on t-shirts are not permitted (we will give you a new shirt to change into or you will not enter).

What sort of new shirt? Is it worth picking up an offensive shirt to wear at the turnstile?:jester:

lol - I was wondering the same thing. :jester:

No disrespect intended.

No one likes to see anything offensive, especially with so many young children around.

But honestly, with the thousands of people roaming around at any given time, I'm not going to, as has been suggested here, seek out a CM to register a complaint.......certainly not over a butt cheek or some well-endowed female.

I'm on vacation.
I'm there to have a good time.
I'm not going to let something like this get me all bent out of shape.

If people get in with shirts with questionable sayings, obviously someone dropped the ball at the front gate.

But I'm not going to go running to some CM and cry about the way someone's dressed.

Sorry. It's just me. I'll shake my head in disgust. But I'm not tattling. (Especially considering some of the neon-Hawaiian shirts I've known to pack on vacation. Someone could easily look at me and wish I had stayed in my room!)

Just how often do you get people who ask what "swoon" means?

I think we all need to remember that when we ar going to theme parks, we are going to go on rides, sweat and usually be there a long time and be seen by a vast amount of people. So therefore I usually dress accordingly.

ok, on the lighter side, here's some funny rules I think should be put into service at WDW

1) No shirt, No shoes, No service (with the big sign hanging over each entryway)

2) Have the secret Dis Fashion Police walk throughout the park, and when a victim is spotted, yell into a bullhorn "Maam, please, for everyone's safety and people with heart conditions, and your own fashion, put on some shorts. The thong you are wearing is causing heart attacks in the elderly and wives having to slap their husbands."

I also forgot, ban ALL spandex & speedos! I mean come on, 50 year old guys with those "extra" six packs hanging around should really consider regular swim trunks...

We actually had a woman at MK yesterday whose shorts were just too short. A pair of trousers of a suitable length were provided for her.

Just how short could they have been? Who made this decision?

And why give her trousers instead of longer shorts? Is it worth it to dress inappropriately in order to get all these free disney clothes?

Aha, now I know why people are dressing inappropriately. They are hoping for the free clothes- when they don't get it.... they are like "to heck with it- I don't want to waste the time to go all the way back to the hotel to change- I'll just live with what I got on for the rest of the day".
LOL

We live in Panama City, FL and so we have to deal with the kids (high schoolers & colleges kids) every year. My 16 yo knows what is and isn't appropriate to wear. She knows that we would never allow her to wear a top that has something obscene on it. But she is also the type who wouldn't wear something like that even if she could.

I have a friend who has a 15 yo who acts more like she is 18 or 19. Others girls my daughter's age have made the comment that this girl acts like a slut. She went to a school dinner recently in a dress that made it look like she was about to fall out of the top. For the first time, I saw her mother actually making her fix the top. (The girl is a 36C - squeezes into a 36B).

Boys at my daughter's high school get around the dress code about their pants being on their waist by wearing long T-shirts. This way they can let them sit below their butt and not get into trouble.

If I had little ones, I would not like to see shirts with obscenities on them or blatant sex acts. I know what is the style and realize the kids want to wear what is in style, but sometimes parents should draw a line. For someone to wear something where they are falling out the top or bottom is a bit inappropriate.

The main thing I can see that is truly objectionable is the obscenity and graphic pictures. CM's should make sure that these are not allowed in the park.
