DH & I are going to The Melting Pot for my birthday tomorrow :goodvibes

It's been a while since we've been & I couldn't remember what the dress code was. So, I called today to ask.

On their voice mail system, it actually had an option if you were calling to inquire about dress code - how neat is that?

They said the dress code is "Upscale Casual". WTH is that?!

DH & I are spending all afternoon at the movies (seeing The Longest Yard and Mr & Mrs Smith) and then going straight to dinner. I really don't want to have to wear dressy clothes to the movies or have to worry about changing clothes.

Would capri pants & a nice cotton shirt be ok for me? What about DH - I guess khaki shorts are out?

I've gone there in jeans and in shorts, and everyone there seemed to be dressed about the same as I was. I wouldn't give a second thought to what to wear there. It's certainly not a place to bother with being even slightly dressy!

We've been to that particular Melting Pot and just worn stuff I'd wear to work. I haven't seen anyone dressed up.

Iv'e worn exactly what you are describing, and I have also worn shorts and a sleeveless golf shirt. DH has worn Khaki shorts or slacks (depending on time of year). I think they really want to dissuade people from showing up in beach attire or ratty shorts and T-shirts by saying "upscale casual."
