What does Business Casual mean for the signature dining places?

In March, we seen folks in shorts & women in sleeveless tops and flip flops, if they are nice, is it ok? At home, when they say business casual, they mean slacks and a collared shirt for men. But what about WDW?

The CM, when I made the ADR's said no shorts, flip flops of any kind, no T-shirts, no tank tops, no jeans, etc...

In March we did go by the dress code, we wore very nice clothes, but that's a lot to pack, and you always have to go back to hotel to change before dinner too, b/c it's too hot to wear slacks to the parks.

But I was wondering if we really could get by with wearing shorts, capris, nice flip-flops??

You see people in everything.;)

I've always worn a casual skirt, and my DH always has worn a collared shirt. I have worn FANCY flip flops before... :rolleyes1

I don't think you will run into a lot of over packing... just bring one nice outfit you can use again or pair with other stuff. The shirt I wore would have gone with my jeans that I brought...

It's always better to be overdressed, right?:goodvibes

Thanks for the reply!!! I like the comment about fancy flip-flip!! LOL!!!

I have several pair of those!! And they are really comfortable.

I got away with 'fancy' flip-flops. ;)

I have some of those 'fancy' flip flops. In fact, I have a several pairs of Haviana flip flops with swarovski crystals that I've gotten by with, but then again these are not cheap Wal Mart flip flops. These are like $70.00-$100.00 flip flops. I also have some flip flops with cute little kitten type heels on them. There are flip flops and then there are Flip Flops.:rotfl:

To the OP, I've seen people in formals and tuxes and then also seen people in tank tops, shorts, and beach type flip flops at the signature restaurants. I have no problem with what anyone wears, but am comfortable myself in either a summer dress or capris, nice blouse, and my 'fancy' flip flops. Sorry, I don't do heels at WDW.:rotfl: I would not wear what I wore to the park that day and am not comfortable in shorts in a nice restaurant, although shorts technically do fit into WDW business casual dress code and you will sometimes see people in them. Wear whatever you feel you'd be comfortable in, in that environment.

I think what I am going to try to do is make all of our dining reservations at the signature places on a monorail resort. We are staying at the Poly, so if we do one at Narcoossee's, California Grill, etc.. That way we can just run back by the hotel and change, then on to the restaurant.

But, I am still wearing my fancy flip-flops!!!:rotfl2:

I guess, I am most worried about DH wearing shorts. But I guess I can pack a few pair of pants, to be on the safe side.

Don't worry about shorts. I bring on pair of jeans with me on vacation to Disney and thats for the return trip home back to Syracuse, where its always cooler.

Otherwise, I'm in shorts the whole time I'm in Disney, including dining out at California Grill, etc. The only place this attire would be absolutely a no-no would be Victoria & Alberts.

Thanks for the info. I was trying to remember if DH wore shorts to the Yachtsman Steakhouse in March, and he did. Although, I do remember the hostess asking him to remove his cap. We had been in the parks right before our dinner ressie and he simply forgot that was against the dress code at the signature places.

Nice dress shorts are okay, but IME I get cold in some of the signature restaurants so I always wear Capri pants and a nice sleeved (short/three-quarter) blouse, sometimes a sweater just in case. No heels, just cute flat thong or slide sandals. FWIW.

We did all singature resturants back in April we did get dressed everynight.
It was our 25th Ann. We were told Businness/ Casual. I think capris are good. but I don't think shorts for these types of places. I personally am not crazy about filp-flops . But they are worn everywhere. I think for these types of resturants if the flip-flops are dresser than that's fine.
Just my opinion.

This has been hashed over a lot recently on this board ... but rules are only as good as enforced, and this is basically what I saw in business casual restaurants last month:

Men in pretty much everything other than tank tops. Nice shorts, gym shorts, cargo pants, whatever. Collared shirts were the norm (mostly golf or "polo" shirts) but there were a lot of tees as well.

Women in basically anything, although most seemed to dress a notch above their male counterparts.

Nobody seems to care what you wear on your feet at all. Crocs, tennis shoes, flip flops of the nice as well as cruddy variety.

Now the question is what you'd feel comfortable wearing given the rules and the surroundings? I'm a bit of a slob, but I feel weird sitting down in a proper white tablecloth restaurant (like those in question) dressed like I just rolled in from the beach ... so I go with lightweight long trousers, Topsiders and a decent looking golf shirt. I never felt uncomfortable and I was well within the dress code.
