Hi, my dh and I just returned from WDW and have a question about the million dreams thing! We saw plenty of fast pass lanyards and hats being worn, but they were always by people who were 'families' ie children were in the party. We also passed the dream cm's but they would walk straight past us and talk to the family immediately behind us.

Has anyone received a dream or seen anyone else receive a dream who does not have children with them? :confused3

This is what I was afraid of. All the reports that I have seen involve kids being a part of the party. We don't have kids. I am not planning to be awarded anything during the YoaMD, but knowing that we have a missing piece to the awards process kinda stinks. Maggie

I've read about people with no kids winning, and I'm sure they'll chime in. If you read some of the threads in this section, people are winning right after getting on a certain ride, or as they get off, etc, because the time and place to give out dreams is already chosen.

We were there in the first part of January, with our kids and we won nothing. Our friends who meet us there have no kids and they won twice. It really is just luck of the draw and being at the right place at the right time.

We won the fast pass lanyard and no kids. I was with my Parents (upper 70's) and DD who is 20.

We were there in December without the kids for our anniversary. We won MGM dream fastpasses on Star Tours one morning. Right place at the right time.

Well, that does give me hope! Thanks for sharing. Maggie

My BF and I won dream fastpasses in AK during our trip in early December. We don't have any children. Actually, I think that there might have been one child in the whole group of people who were given FastPasses at the same time as us. It's just being in the right place at the right time, I think. I had read on some other threads that a computer tells the dream team where to be and when and the prizes are awarded to those lucky enough to be in that spot, but I don't know firsthand that this is true. It makes sense, legally, though, with discrimination worries, etc.

Good Luck! :wizard:

DH and I were given Dream Fastpasses at Epcot last week. They were handing them out to everyone getting off the ride, so at least in that situation they really weren't taking into account what kind of traveling party you are!

I do agree it's a little sad that couples and solos don't seem to have as much chance for things like the castle stay and "family of the day" type things but at least for the fastpasses/pins/hats thing it's seems pretty democratic.

DH and I went in Dec. without children

We got the ears when we were in the Animation show (I forget the name), DH got a certificate and free cotton candy because we were in the main street candy shop, it wasn't busy and has actually just waiting for me watching the girl make cotton candy and she asked it he wanted to try it. I also got a certificate because I looked for the Key under the mat in Muppets and the CM saw me.

So they a giving things out to kidless couples.

The dreams are givien out randomly....a computer generates the where and when.

I have won dream fastpass in Oct....me and DH
I won dream ears in Jan.....me and a friend.

It can happen to anyone at anytime.

Hey, thanks to you all for sharing these dreams... I hated the thought that disney were discriminating... so pleased to hear otherwise:)

DH and I won ears as we were exiting the Haunted Mansion. Then we went to lunch and there was a dad eating with 2 small children, so we gave our ears to the dad to give to his kids. It was kind of like we got two presents, b/c we won a prize, but then got to give a prize away too, like we were our own mini dream squad! LOL!!

Well maybe not family of the day - BUT the castle is certainly in reach of (lucky) couples and singles - its who is sitting somewhere when or something to that effect - had the person who was sitting in a certain seat at Star Tours been one of a couple or a person traveling alone - they would have won.

Couples and sole travelers have absolutely the SAME chance as families of any size, of winning ANY Year of a Million Dreams prize - including the night in the Castle.

I did read an article about the family who won the first night in the castle suite. They won because the son was sitting in a certain seat on a certain ride vehicle on a preselected load of Star Tours at MGM. Sounds to me like anybody could end up winning this sort of thing, although for publicity reasons I bet Disney was thrilled that they came up with a family that had kids (I think the son was a teen but the daughter was younger).

Okay, I have a question. How in the world do they find you? I understand that the selections are made via computer? How do they know where you are? What park or place you are in? Am I missing something here?

Thanks

They don't find "you". They go to a specific location when directed and award a prize or prizes to the Guest or Guest in that location at that time:
A particular seat on an attraction at the chosen time is "THE" prize location. The person IN that seat wins the prize.
Or:
Everybody exiting Tomorrowland Transit Authority between 2:37 and 2:41 gets Dream Ears.

But the Dream Team is NOT seeking a specific person. It's RANDOM.

I agree. I just think people with children in their party increase the odds. Say a family of 2 adults and 2 kids are in a row on the ride Dinosaur. They have a better chance than a couple with no kids. Or a mom and son, for that matter! It's just the luck of the draw, and I can't wait to try my odds out in September! Congrats to those that have won, big and small dreams/wishes!

In Epcot on Feb 8 as we were waiting in Soaring room #1; which by the way is an awesome ride.
Dream team greeted us all and said we were in the right place at the right time. There were about 30 people in the area and we all received a dream fastpass for the day.
Even though we got the dream fastpasses, the lines at Epcot for most of the rides were a waiting time of 10 minutes with the exception of Soaring.
