How do they make money? I'm kind of confused so you pay extra then booking the cruise on your own? if so how much does it usually cost?

Same way most travel agencies make money off the commission disney pays them when you book. You pay the same amount if you book yourself or with an agency. Some of them like dreams offer onboard credits and other services.

You'll pay the same for your cruise whether you use Dreams Unlimited to book it or if you book directly. The difference is, with Dreams Unlimited you'll (most times) get an Onboard Credit (out of their commission from DCL) placed in your onboard account.

The feeling of "you pay more if you don't use a TA" comes from that. You don't really pay "more", you just don't get anything back.

Many TAs offer some sort of perk for using them to book a cruise (from OBC, to champagne, or photo packages). Some don't.
