I'm interested in booking a cruise, so I sent an email to Dreams Unlimited. I received an acknowledgment of my email ... but haven't heard any details yet. This was 24 hours ago (Thursday). How long does it take? Thanks.

.

My responses were usually 24 hrs or so. BUT, I found some in my spam box. Have you checked? I have read of many people here discovering it there. Somehow it did not bypass the filter..

Otherwise I would definitely email back. They probably were a little busier than usual with the 2009 booking dates coming out.

Just call Disney direct. They are the nicest people on earth and you get to speak directly with some one and not having to wait on emails:thumbsup2

Usually it's 24 hours, but this week the response time was really fast. On the day that the 2009 DCL dates were released, I e-mailed DU requesting a quote. I didn't expect a response right away, but got one within an hour!:thumbsup2

When I first was getting an initial quote for my 08 cruise, I had a 24 hour wait too. It was killing me! LOL. Faster than Small World was though, and much cheaper, even not counting OBC. But now that I am working with just one TA there, she is so fast. She got back to me within the hour!

Now I'm just waiting to see if the SPH room she is holding for another client gets booked or not! Who asks for that and doesn't book it right away?! :confused3

Yes, I'm sure they are nice. But the last time I was searching for a cruise, Disney was more expensive than the agency.

DCL changed how they allow TA's to price cruises now. They all should be very close in price, some offer rebates, OBCs or gift cards that entice you to book with them.

I wass ready to buy on a wednesday.

Sent them instructions via their web form. Got the auto reponse on thurday morning. Still had nothing from them by friday, so i booked myself via fisney, and my airline.

$6k worth of sales they missed out on.

My opinion, they could care less about you the individual. They opperate on numbers, wish is why they sponser so big here and other places. They want as many people to fill out their form as possible, knowing x % will wait and do what they "big travel company" said to do.

When i finally got their offer, it was a cookie cutter offer that no one took any time to address my individual needs i requested.

Just do you research, and book yourself. You gain nothing using Dreams, but a extra time to wait.

It's funny that you say Small world was slower. I got a quote this week from both-Small world was quicker and about 2,000 cheaper for the exact same cruise and exact catagory. I work with one particular person at Small world.
Just thought I would add my 2 cents worth

Except bigger OBC's.

DU is a cyberspace travel agency with no office. no employees and no service. The worst thing I ever did was book with those invisable people. Do not book with DU, you will be sorry. If you do, DCL will not help you in any way, shape or form. DU will help you even less. I know they sponser this board but my experience is bad, bad, bad. I have had a terrible time with DU since I booked my cruise a year ago. Last month I ask them to add the Annual pass holder discount to my ressie and they said I would have to cancel and rebook. Now what sense does that make? A $50 obc by rebooking and paying $430 more. No way. DCL will not talk to me! They say that DU "owns" my ressie and I don't. What a crooked setup. Siphoning money off people in cyberspace. Where does it go? Ok, it's only $50 and it's not going to break me, but it's the principle of the entire program.

I am sorry to hear if anyone is less than happy with the service provided by Dreams Unlimited Travel. I welcome the opportunity to address anyone's concerns directly - please feel free to email me at John@DreamsUnlimitedTravel.com

I do take exception to anyone implying Dreams Unlimited Travel is anything less than 100% honest and straightforward with their clients. Everyone at Dreams Unlimited Travel works hard to do their best to make every clients vacation as special as possible, including the pre and post-trip experience. Each agent works hard to prepare the best quote possible and provide all the necessary information required to make an informed decision prior to accepting the quote provided.

If you have any concerns about Dreams Unlimited Travels please feel free to contact the Better Business Bureau. The company is registered in New Jersey, where the home office is located.

Thanks
John

Well, I got my quote back from DU ... their price is less than the Disney Website (I made sure to just add trip insurance, but no transfers on both so the quotes are for the same package). I'm going to price Costco, call Disney directly for a quote and see which of the three works out best. Thanks for the input.

Well, I've had nothing but great experience w/DU. I used Merrie in 05 for my land/sea. Got an SPR. Also, she got me the coveted Cinderella's breakfast ressie at the time and day I wanted in MK! I booked another cruise w/her this past sept, but had to cancel due to new house & newborn issues. But, I transferred deposit over to Mexican Riveria for next summer, again an SPR. With the $150 OBC, its a no brainer.

I don't see how Small World could sell a cruise literally $2,000 less than a competitor. My understanding is Disney doesn't allow TA's to discount ticket prices anymore. All prices have to be the same that Disney charges. The only discounts allowed are on the back end with on board discounts, usually no more than $600 tops which I've seen for the 15 day Panama Canal sailings. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples because if Small World is discounting that much, they aren't following Disney policy and risk not being allowed to book with Disney anymore.

i booked with DU when i went last may and have booked again with them for my next trip in sept. i have only great things to say about my TA (tracy whipple), if she is going to be away for a few days she always e-mails me. so i know she won't be able to answer right away. last time for a change (we did 6 nights on land and a 4 night cruise) i told her what we wanted but not when and she got everything we wanted all ressie's plus gave us a few ideas. for the previous years i did everything myself( its just me and my dd) so i thought it would be fun to have a bit of of surprise and just go with the flow.it was great. i would recommend them in a heartbeat along with tracy if you can get her.

I think this is harsh considering you do not know the specifics and how travel agencies relationships with cruise lines work. Small World has a great reputation, just as DU has, with Disney I don't think they would jepordize that

Some cruises can definitely be less then other agencies / Disney cruise line because of what all cruise lines call group space. That is the only way cruise lines are allowing the lower prices. Just like another post above that said DU has a lower price then everyone else. The same principal applies they probably had group space

I have used Dreams Unlimited numerous times over the past few years and have always received prompt responses and excellent service. I use the same agent, who has become a friend. She makes sure that I am getting the best deal and has worked hard to get me the dining reservations that I want on the day that I want them.

I am currently working with her on a DCL reservation for next May that involves 3 cabins, for 3 couples all linked together. She has done a superb job in making sure that each couple knows exactly what they should. She has handled countless questions from all of us....sometimes I think we must drive her crazy.

For me, using Dreams means that I can continue to plan my ideal trip, be it land or sea and know that I have someone there to assist me with all the details that I no longer have the time to do myself.

I know Small World has a good rep. My main point wasn't that they were doing something wrong...it was that I doubted there was literally a $2,000 price difference. I know there is a group discount, but I've never seen it be that much before. I just would be surprised by it if it were true.
