Hey all

I’ve emailed Dreams Unlimited to get my reservation for an upcoming cruise transferred from DCL, but no one has gotten back to me.

Can someone from Dreams please reply with your email so I can get this taken care of

Thx

I would think that transfers are not a priority at the moment. Agents are trying to book clients on these Wish sailings which are booking up. You already have a stateroom, and you have 30 days to complete the transfer. I would give them a few days.

Please accept my apologies that you have not heard back yet. Please send me an email at John@DreamsUnlimitedTravel.com and I will look into it.

Why transfer reservation to an agent? Never used an agent before but very interested in getting more information before booking. Any help or links would be appreciated.

When using Dream Unlimited you get their specialized trip planning services at no extra charge. You also get an on board credit based on the cost of your cruise, which is like free money to spend on your cruise. As an added bonus, DU also sends their clients a gift basket full of goodies, to use on your cruise.

A follow up question - I’ve booked our own WDW and DL trips for decades but now reading more and more about using an agent even on these trips. Why?
I can definitely see the benefits for using you for a cruise because we have zero experience. Thank you very much.
FYI - listening to you shows while walking and learning so much about cruising.

I thought you could only get DCL reservations transferred after so many days after you put down your deposit. I tried to get my placeholder transferred to DU and the agent said it wasn't possible as too much time had lapsed. That particular cruise ended up being canceled by Disney anyway, so I'm not sure if by booking a new cruise through Disney if that "resets" something allowing me to transfer it to Dreams. Anyone have any info on that?

You have 30 days from your initial deposit to transfer a sailing to a Travel Agent. If the reservation has been paid in full, you cannot transfer. If your sailing was canceled, and you have future cruise credit, and you book again, with a new reservation number, that can be transferred within the 30 day window. Make sense?

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Once my September cruise is canceled, I will rebook and get that new reservation number and contact DU.

Dreams Unlimited can take care of things like booking your meals for you. They also watch for discounts to be released and if any do come out for your dates, they apply that to your reservation for you. This saves you the trouble of watching and making the call yourself. During this past year with cancellations and all that, guests were very happy they had a travel agent on their side, even the ones who are Disney pros.

It costs nothing extra to use DU, but you can get a lot...or as little help as you want. Also, they sponsor these Boards and the Dis Unplugged podcasts (I assume those are the shows you are referring to). If you are enjoying those, and learning from them, why not support their sponsor?

This is really interesting, I have a 3 night cruise booked on the Dream in October, I used DU for a quote for an Alaskan cruise a few months ago, and asked (on the back of advice from a friend) about transferring our October reservation to them (booked direct) the agent told me there wasn't much point and I may lose my deposit.

Is it worth me pursuing this do you think?

Also we're now on a UK staycation cruise just 2 weeks before our Dream cruise (assuming we can fly to the US from the UK by then of course!), I've also read about people moving already booked cruises whilst on board to benefit from the 10% discount, or would we be too late to do that as will have paid the full balance by then?

Thank you

We usually always did our own bookings for DL and WDW. Then we used DU for our first cruise and they did a great job booking everything and figured we would just let them book all or Disney stuff now. When new discounts come out for your booked trip they will take care of it for you. Costs us nothing to us them and helps them get paid from Disney. may even end up saving money. Win win scenario for both.

What are those trip planning services exactly? Does that just mean air and hotels? Do they email/call you for other stuff?

For WDW, they can do things like book your meals, and I believe they can book Fast Passes (if those come back). They will plan an itinerary for you to help you get the most out of your park time, and give you tips and hints throughout the planning process. They are always available to answer any questions you might come up with too. The agents have lots of experience with the products they sell, so they can always give advice and opinions form their personal experience.

While less planning is needed for a cruise, they will touch base with you from time to time to give you information pertaining to your cruise, whether it be on board venues/activities or ports of call. They will remind your booking window dates to be sure you don't miss out. I believe they would book activities for you if you would like, but I'm not sure on that. They can give advice and answer questions based on their personal experience and feedback from other clients...basically they help you get the most out of your trip. :)

And they always watch for discounts and automatically apply them to your reservation if any do come out that you are eligible for.

I do not believe they book air.

Is there a person that is aware of benefits of DU for Royal Caribbean? Not sure how/what agents help with, but I know getting a TA was recommended by RC when I made my first reservation(used AAA that time). Maybe that is just helpful how they handle payment? Helpful reminders?

When were these cruises first booked? If more than 30 days ago, the TA is correct they cannot accept the transfer without a cancel/rebook at current rates. It also cannot be transferred if already PIF.

The Onboard Booking benefit -- 10% off cruise fare and reduced deposit on some cruises -- you'd need to be sure of the numbers. The rebook is at current rates, so if the cruise fare has increased at least 10% from when you booked, there isn't really any value in rebooking. If you will already be within the "penalty" phase (past the official PIF date), take into consideration any cancellation penalty, which likely cancels out any savings from the 10% discount.

Thank you, frustratingly it was within the 30 days when we had the conversation, but past it now. Oh well.

How long is too long to wait for questions to be answered by an agent? I reached out on June 19, got a quote but had some questions on June 21, no response back from the dreams unlimited agent. I ended up going ahead and booking but asked a couple of questions in the booking page. No replies or responses from anyone. I did also reach out directly to the agent I was assigned to. I have never used an agent before so I'm not sure if this is typical or not. My trip comes up at the end of this month. I am a little concerned that when I purchased the trip, on the drop down screen it listed places I might go at WDW and "MGM" was listed instead of Hollywood Studios, so that seems really odd and unsettling that it would not be updated. Thanks for any advice you can provide to me.

That does sound like an unusually long time without a response. It’s probably a simple miscommunication. You may want to contact Webmaster John at John@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com. He should be able to get you in contact with your agent.
