Well, my Girl Scouts have fundraised enough to begin making reservations for our cruise!! So, I took the advice of so many of you and e-mailed Dreams Unlimited. Group of 11, 3 night cruise. It came in OVER $2,000 LESS than Disney's published rates! With divide that down per person is just ove $100 less, so I would like to use that to purchase travel insurance and try to upgrade to a hidden porthole room. Here's the kicker...I'm skiddish about usuing someone other than Disney! It's hard to trust anyone these days, especially on the internet. If that price came in so much less than Disney's. how on earth do they make any money? I'm trying not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but it's not my money, know what I mean? Alot of trust has been placed on me and I can't blow it. So help me out....is it the right thing to do?

Dreams is the BEST!!!! I used them on my last cruise and they were so great, I booked with them again!! Don't worry about using, they are reputable and probably one of the best travel agencies I've ever been in contact with. If you are booking very far in advance, DCL will discount their full brochure rates, so that's the difference you are seeing. Enjoy your cruise!!!

If you are talking about Disney's brochure rates, no one pays that! It is like the sticker price on a car. To find out what Disney is currently asking for your specific cruise, go to www.disneycruise.com and click on the quote icon and follow through with your information.

As for Dreams Unlimited, you are safe dealing with them. They do not hold onto your deposit, it goes straight to DCL. They are able to offer you a better deal than DCL because of the commission they get for selling the cruise.

Sounds like a GREAT Girl Scout trip. Have fun.

I've gone through DU several times (hotel and cruise ressies) and have found them to be very reliable. They responded to my email very quickly, they answered any questions promptly, and they followed through on any requests. I would not hesitate to use them, and I plan on booking yet another DCL cruise with them for next year. :D You can relax and enjoy the planning!! Have a great time!!

I agree that Dreams is the best. We have used them on both cruises and land vacations (to WDW and Disleyland). They are fast, they are efficient, and they work for you. Best of all they love Disney as much as we do so they know how things work.

I would not hesitate to use them at all.

PM me if you have any specific questions.

Dreams is great I am using them for my next DCL cruise and they beat the DCL quote by $400 and I also am using them for a non Disney cruise. They have been honest, patient, informative and quick to respond to any questions or concerns.

Way to go Girls Scout Leader or should I say girls! Mine are starting this year to build their funding base for a European trip in 2007. We were just talking about that with regards to our cookie sale that starts tomorrow!

Pass along best wishes for a fabulous trip to your girls from Troop 359 over in Michigan Pine & Dunes council!

Deb

My experience was that the rates were the same. The Disney Cruise Line res. rates included optional insurance and transfers, whereas the DU quote did not. If I left off the transfers and insurance from Disney quotes , the rates were the same. Am I missing something?
Are the DU rates better, other than rebates when available?

I know how hard it is to raise money for a troop of girls to do something like this, and I totally understand your hesitation. Last year my troop of Brownies earned enough to go to Chicago to the American Girl Place and I was SO stressed during cookie sales wondering if we would 'make it' (and we did).

I used Dreams Unlimited last year for our family's cruise and all went VERY smoothly. I have been on three cruises. The first booked through AAA, the second booked directly through Disney, the third booked through Dreams Unlimited. I got the best service from Dreams Unlimited (would not book again with AAA, directly through Disnely was OK, but the service with DU was more 'personal' and they had a nice surprise for us in our room when we arrive--but I understand they must have 8 rooms booked to do that).

So I just want to say, as one Girl Scout leader to another, I had nothing but great experiences with DU and would recommend them.

Hope this helps!

But I priced the cruise on line and called and it was $400 more than the quote and ressie I went with thru DU. Everything was the same, category and such but we did get a discount for booking 2 staterooms. Our first cruise I booked thru DCL and it was fine but I like these boards so much and like the thought of DU watching the prices to drop :) and such for us.

Good luck to the Girl Scouts!

I haven't read through this whole thread yet, but rest assured, you are working with a reputable firm.

I am now using them for the second time cruising, third time in all. Michelle has gotten back to me almost instantly every time I e-mail her with a question or change, and that was even before I made reservations.

I've been a regular on these boards for over three years (had a name change because my 'puter was hacked), and Pete has, like I said, a very reputable firm.

DU is WONDERFUL!!.:bounce: :bounce: If the rate goes down, THEY contact you!!! That's right, they actually do all the work.Liz and Cathy are wonderful and very helpful. Whenever I have a question they get back to me ASAP!!! I have NEVER had to ask the same question twice. I always get an answer on my question the first time. I would NOT hesitate to book with them. Have fun on your cruise.

Ok, everyone! I guess I will just take a deep breath and plunge!!
I am evern more excited than they are, I think!

By the way, Carlennaro:
I did this search as a base to start with:
5 Adults
6 Girls
Catagory 11
Cruise date: 6-24-04
No Travel insurance
No Transfers
All Taxes, Fees & Port Charges
Per person:

Disney's Brochure: $756.22
Disney's Web Site: $661.85
Dreams Unlimited: $516.12

Is that a diference or what?

That's whay it seemed too good to be true!!
Thanks to all. What would I do without you!

I'm just going to chime in and say I loved working with DU. Price was cheaper, service was prompt and staff was knowledgable!!

I used them for our cruise and I also used them for 1 night at the Contemporary.

Oh my goodness, we're on the same cruise!

Wait a minute, is that a 7 day Eastern price?

Wow, that's pretty good!

She said her Girl Scout troop is going on a 3 day cruise. Wish my troop could do that! But we live to far away (19 hours away). If we could get there in a few hours, I would consider it when they were older.

I have cruised twice booking through DU. Two 7 nighters to go (Mar 03 and Nov 03), booked through DU as well. We will continue to use DU. Furthermore, the new "surprise" in the stateroom(s) for 8 DU booking on the same sailing was great. Can't beat the rebate!!!

Go with DU.

Okay, I have the wrong date for mine. We're sailing on the 26th, 2004 on the Eastern itinerary.

I knew DU was good, but I thought that was a bit cheap;)
