Sounds like fun!

Our trip was last October (07). We had a CM at MGM (was still called that last year) take us in through some of the back stage walk ways to RRC before the park officially opened. He told us the whole "story" about how the Hollywood Tower Hotel was a beautiful hotel so they opened the recording studio until the "mishap" at the HTH. He went on to tell us all about Aerosmith reopening the recording studio. Then we got to ride RRC all by ourselves. It was the best.

We also got a free slushie in Epcot FW because we were the customer of the hour.

That's so cool! I'd been wondering how they pick the family of the day. We were always at the parks for opening, but never early enough to be right next to the rope. What a great experience for your family.

I think it is pretty much luck. We were the first people through our turnstile that morning, and we were just walking towards the rope drop area, when a CM stopped my DH and first asked us how many were in our group, and then if we wanted to ride RRC before the park opened. Of course we said yes!!!!
