"Dreaming" of Mexico in March 11th 2012

Hi!!

Well, I've just booked this cruise. We are also doing the cruise before this one so will have two weeks on the Wonder. I'm Janice and will be sailing with my son Trevor. We'd like to join the FE exchange, don't have a room number yet but will be in a Cat 9. Really looking forward to some sun.....

Hi Janice...welcome :woohoo::dance3::yay:

So how old is Trevor? I'm also sailing alone with my son ...he's 15...sophomore....DH and soon to be age 18 y.o son staying home....we just got back from a 2week cruise in July ...week in Canada in Whistler than 2days in Vancouver than the week cruise....they are not as ready to hop on again as my other son and I am.

Trevor is 21 and has Down Syndrome, so he more like a younger teen...

This was taken in May when the Wonder first stopped in Skagway. We weren't on the cruise but made the trip to Skagway to meet up with some friends we had met on an earlier cruise. We live about 100 miles from Skagway

I just received e-mails from Airtran that the flight home was changed from 11:45 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. with us arriving in Milwaukee at 5:20 a.m. I looked at a few flights and didn't see any that would work. I may need to cancel that flight and fly home on a different airline. I am upset and not sure what we are doing. I was planning on everyone going to school the next day. Sorry for venting. Hopefully I will figure this out tomorrow when I ask for more time off of work.

Update on our plans
We will be flying out on Monday instead of sunday now. this means a full day at Disneyland on Sunday. so tomorrow I am off to see the travel agent to get her thoughts about a few things-la tour,Milwaukee hotel, car rental or shuttle.

So do you live in Alaska? My son is use to people with DS and other disabilities ....maybe they can make friends and chill together....

glad that you decided to do that...saw your post on FB and was like wow that stinks.....better to chill at DL for the day :thumbsup2

We don't live in Alaska, but in Whitehorse, Yukon. The US border is about 100 mi and Skagway is right on the coast. We go there a couple of times each summer-it's a nice day trip.

Got Disney";43381623] WELCOME :woohoo::jumping1:party::dancer: How old are your children? Or did you already post it and I missed it:goodvibes Have you ever been on DCL before or was your first on a different cruise line?
My kids are DD 6 and DS 3 this is my second disney cruise I have been on about 5-6 cruises though but used other companies. This is DS first ever though! [COLOR="DarkOrchid said:
We are giving the cruise to them as a Christmas present this year.
Any good idea's of how to give it to them??

You could put a personalized invitation from Captain Mickey in their stockings. There are a lot of cool designers on the DIS boards....or tie a bunch of helium balloons to an card from Mickey, wrap it in a big big box so that it'll float out....

I like the balloon idea. Sounds cool. Can't wait to hear their response.

Hi everyone! Just got booked onto this sailing about a week ago…...guaranteed inside cabin is good enough for me! :thumbsup2 We are me (DW), DH, DS 9, and DS 5. All but DS 5 sailed Wonder to the Bahamas 5 years ago, as I was pregnant with him at the time. We also cruised Carnival pre-kids and this will be our first 7 night voyage. Ahhhh, relaxation! We are meeting my east coast parents in LA and going on the cruise together. As this is their gift to our family, my parents will decide how and when to surprise my kids with the big news. It is so hard not to let it slip, especially since I am now in heavy-duty planning mode!

Ok, so it’s been five years so the whole fish extender and magnet thing was news to me. I promised myself I’d wait until after Christmas to start planning the “Disney magic” and surprises for the cruise, but I’ve found that cruise planning is pre-empting Christmas stuff! It is way more fun, anyway. Don’t think we’ll do the FE group, as I am not very crafty, but may design some magnets.

Someone posted earlier they were having trouble finding a place to drop off a rental car near the port on 3/11. Same thing here, I just cannot find a way to do it. We will take a red-eye over from Honolulu Friday night and arrive at LAX very early Sat AM. Would love to make it to Disneyland that day, but the price of One Days just precludes it. We were there 2 yrs in a row recently, so no biggie. Were thinking of doing the Aquarium of the Pacific at Long Beach with a whale watch or harbor cruise combo. Anyone been there and have any comments? If we do that, DH may drop us off at ‘as yet undetermined’ San Pedro hotel then return car to LAX or LGB and shuttle back to hotel Saturday night. Seems pretty crazy that Enterprise won’t take a car back at San Pedro on Sunday morning. Anyone else finding this same thing or have a solution?
Anyway, just wanted to introduce on here and say we are so excited to be going on the “Mickey Boat” again. Can’t wait until the kids know so we can get crazy together!

P.S. Just finished watching Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas with the kids. I just love that one.

P.P.S. Went over to Aulani last night (ya hate me, don’t ya?) to see the place at night for the first time and to see holiday decorations. Maybe they’ll wow us next year with decorations, because they certainly didn’t this year!

Welcome aboard. I think the best we found with a rental car is for 24 hours a little less than $100 because we are picking it up at port and dropping it off at LAX. I still have time so I may keep looking.

Enterprise is the only rental agency with drop off in San Pedro, they are beside the Crowne Plaza hotel and have a shuttle. Only open till noon on weekends. Must call to reserve as you cannot do it on line. I was quoted $100 for 1 day pick up at LAX and drop of San Pedro, but that is a small car.

Alamo had some amazing rates for 8 day rentals through Costco, so I had thought about booking a parking package at the Crowne Plaza and leaving the car there for the week and then dropping of at LAX after the cruise. It was only pretty much the same price as 2 1 way rental and hotel.

Welcome to all the new people who booked!!!!

Let me tell you I am getting beyond excited. I am so excited my wife has already started rolling her eyes at me.

Anyway I was trying to decide if we would like to join the FE group but I think with the baby we'll have to pass this time. It would just be too much work and frankly right now we cannot even begin to figure out how to keep our house picked up let alone have to plan and pack what would be required for the FE. I hope everyone enjoys it I know my daughters would but we just are unable to take on anything right now.

Isaiah is getting excited for the cruise too. He can't wait to taste all those wonderful meals (processed by mom of course).

Welcome Aboard!...and no, I don't hate you for living so close to Aulani-but I am seriously jealous!:lmao:

So it's getting a little more real as I booked our excursions and Palo a few days ago and just finished my online checkin tonight (we've taken a DCL cruise before we are able to do all this 75 days in advance, rather than the 90 in advance we could last time).

I'm running the WDW marathon (Goofy actually) in a few weeks so that's in the forefront of our planning right now, but this cruise is sneaking up close behind.

I can't wait to get on the ship and start enjoying this cruise with my family.

Ummgood-that is one cute baby! Looks like he's in cruise planning mode....:goodvibes

Well he is planning three activities while he is on the ship. I am sure most everyone can figure out what those activities are :rotfl2:

haha I think you got your numbers mixed up :) I was reading and was like "Hey I book 75 days out too why couldn't I book anything yet..." Then I read your 90 day for last time and figured out what you meant.

I am chomping at the bit to start doing things here. We are really slacking we haven't sent off for the kids passports yet. ACK!!! We are going to do that Monday since I have off. I think we'll still be ok.

I used to run quite regularly. I lost a lot of weight running (130 pounds) but I hurt my IT band and got out of the habit. Then my wife got pregnant and I gained her weight for her so now I have to get busy after Christmas to get it back off. I hope to have most of it off by the cruise but I probably won't be as thin as I would like to be.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to my cruise friends. I am looking forward to the new year since it is getting closer to our trip.

Are you planning on running on the cruise? I am not a runner but I would think my son will need to be there quite a bit since he will be in the middle of track season. I will tell the coach he will run daily. It is too bad he is not old enough to be in the exercise room. He could use the time lifting weights. I am not sure if he looks 18?:confused3
