Hi there.....I am trying various ways to check the best price on a package and it seems like booking a room reservation with Park Hopper Plus tickets is better then the D.Maker Packages.....your thoughts?

Here is an example

Aug. 21-28
Contemp. Garden Wing room & Park Hopper 7 day w/pluses

$2973.50

Same Room with Dreamaker Pkg/Prince/Princess add on (have 2 children ages 4, 9)

$3401.40

A difference of about $430.....I know you get some nice features with the packages but is it worth that amount?

Any opinions?

I always book separately. I know 400 may not sound like a lot, but think of the food, gifts and other things you could do with that money. Also think about the extra's that you are getting. Are they worthwhile? If they are to you, then doing the package may be just right for you. If not, then book separately and save some money.

I've often found that the packages are more than room only with PHP tickets. To a certain extent that's expected because the UPH is "more powerful" than a PHP. It lets you go to as many parks in a day as you want' In other words, you could go to MK in the am, BB in the pm, and PI in the evening. With a PHP that would use one park day and 2 plus features. However, most people don't tour like that so the UPHs aren't worth the extra money.

By the way, did you check out places like Ticketmania.com and AAA for discounts on PHP tickets. They may not be that much of a discount but every little bit helps. Also, check out www.mousesavers.com for more info on discounts at Disney.

Keep an eye on these boards and mousesavers.com for room discounts for August. It's too soon to expect them now, and there's no guarabtee Disney will release discount codes. But, it doesn't hurt to keep checking and modify your reservation if a discount becomes available.

As the above poster suggested, if you haven't already, go to mousesavers.com for the best deal on tickets. I checked and re-checked for our trip and couldn't get the package to come anywhere near the cost of room only plus PHP's and we even have days left on our tickets for next time.
