Day 13 - Jan 13th
They announced hot for today, 80s, so the kids wanted to do a water park. Out of the 2 water parks, Blizzard Beach was open. We never did a water park, I always thought, well what can we possibly do there. I don't like slides that dumps you in 10 feet of water, but I was willing to give it a try. We packed a lunch and were out the door by 9:30 am.
Since we didn't bring any camaras we took advantage of the Photopass Photographers. I thought they would only be at the entrance, but they were throughout the park.
We rented a locker, changed, put our lunch in it and headed towards a fun day.
The first stop was Cross country creek, a continuous flowing creek, encircling the entire park on tubes. The first step into the water was COLD! But we went ahead and plopped out buts as quickly as possible in the tubes and let the creek do the rest, it was gently and relaxing... OH! look our first photopass photographer, everybody
My hubby and B.I.L wanted to do Summet Plumet, a 120 foot high water slide that shoots you down at speeds of 60 mph. So not for me!! So they left and my sis and the kids went to a kids play area, the Ski Patrol Training camp, where we had fun for a bout 20 min.
Then my hubby joined us and said that there was a family raft ride and wanted to give it a try.
So we got up the mountain by chair left, so cool, but you can also get there by stairs. We got to the tip and sat in the huge family tube (Team boat Springs) It was so much fun, that we went straight back up, this time taking the stairs, which was murder on the legs. We also did the tobogan slides and it was time for lunch.
I found a nice pik nik table under a tree (shade please, by then it was hot) and had our sandwiches and cookies. We left our things on the table (water, more snacks etc.) and went for some more fun. I don't know how many times the emn did Summet Plumet, I think 10 or 12 times throughout the day. Again we split up and my sis and kids went in Melt away bay, a gentle wave pool. It was getting late and we had ADR's for Whispering Canyon Café for around 6:30 pm. and had to go back to the room to change and get ready. But there was still time for one more Summet Plumet before the park closes, so we watched and kept and eye out for my hubby and B.I.L. As other guests plummetted down the slide and got up, my sis and I noticed some major weggies ha! It was so funny as they got up glancing here and there reajusting their swimsuits.
And then here come hubby, he clocked a 53 mph ride. And then B.I.L he came out like a bullet and was clocked at 70 mph. I don't know how acurate the radar is, but he was moving.
So my day at the water park was really fun, and next time, it's a must on my list.
Next our diner at Whispering Café...
