DREAM OCTOBER 14, 2012 4 Night Bahamas~If You Can DREAM it...

Welcome DisneyNut1958. This doesn't seem to be a very active cruise meet thread. I feel weird welcoming you, as my participation has been only to introduce myself also. Looking forward to the new year and a cruise that is less than a year away!

You did such a great job too. The holidays got me distracted... well maybe not too distracted. We did have a gathering of people who are going on the cruise with us so that they could get to know each other. That was fun. As we were all seated for dinner I thought that if we are that talkative and loud, that many will hope to be nowhere near us in the dining rooms. :rotfl2: Well, I wasn't loud.

Only because I had lost my voice due to a sinus cold thing.

Hello future fellow Dream travelers!!! My family is also booked on this cruise. I had originally booked our cruise for the same week but in 2011, and then my parents told us they were taking us on a cruise and to the parks, (Universal) so I pushed my cruise back a year. Now that I have gotten through our recent trip and the holidays, I can start focusing on this cruise. This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise, 1st on The Dream, I am a single mom with 3 children, DS(16), DD(12) and DS(9). Our last cruise in October was RCCL Monarch of the Seas. It was a great time, due in part to the fact that we were with my parents and my Brothers family. I told the kids before we left we would not compare the two cruise lines, or we would be disapointed. But I still did. My kids however didn't compare them at all, and loved The Monarch just as much as Disney.

My kids don't know about this trip, as I am planning to surprise them.

I don't have a lot of advice on the kids clubs as my children used them pretty sparingly in the past. My daughter only did the HSM things back in 2008, when it was a big deal, and my oldest son who was 13 at the time only went the first night, and had no interest in going back after that. Vacation is our time to reconnect as I work 2 jobs, (one to finance my vacation fund, LOL) my son just got his first job, and the kids are all in activities, so I don't mind if they skip the clubs.

I look forward to getting to know all of you over the next 10 months!

My DH and I will be sailing on the DREAM October 14, 2012!! Can't wait! Anyone who is also on Facebook, please join my group Cruising the Disney Dream! October 14, 2012. Would love to have you!! Looking forward to making some new friends before sailing! This will be our first Disney Cruise, and my hubby's first cruise ever!

Hi there! Glad to meet you! Moms always says welcome way better than I do. lol.

Oh good, there is activity on the board. I don't have a facebook account. My only excuse is that I work on a computer all day, and avoid them on my free time. But with me surprising my kids, I would probably stick to this board anyhow. I have surprised them with 2 trips, the first time in 2008 was a DCL cruise and was a scavenger hunt. Then in February 2011 , my older son was going to visit his best friend in AZ, I took my younger 2 kids out of school and they thought they were just seeing him off at the airport. I surprised them at the airport with a trip to Disney World. My parents surprised all the grandkids back in 2009, when my mom had the kids do a back to school auction for school supplies, and in each of thier notebooks there was a little note stating we were going to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. So I need to come up with something new, that they wouldn't guess before the actual surprise. If anyone has any ideas, I would love input. Once I finish the surprise maybe I can start a Face Book page.

My DBF and his family surprised me with a care package during my first year of college. It was filled with Disney stuff! My favorites were the Disney princess maracas and the coloring book. (Yes, I still love to color :rotfl:).

You could always do a Disney movie night and surprise them with little boxes, like popcorn boxes filled with Disney stuff, popcorn and candies. You know movie stuff, and have a little note or even stick one of DCL planning DVDs or a CD with cruise music on it. Disney luggage tags or a map of the ship would be cute as well.

How exciting to suprise them! Are you wanting to wait till the day you leave or the actual cruise day or what? Do you drive or do you fly? That matters...lol I'm assuming fly since your location says MN. You could always have everything packed up and say we are going to dinner and drive to the airport and when they ask where you are going say, "Disney!" If they think it is the world they will be suprised it is a cruise instead.

My kids have all said they love the surprises, so I try to make it fun. I will tell them in advance. As part of the fun of a trip is the planning and antipation. For the last cruise I told them on the first day of school and we went the same week in October as we are this year. So they had about 7 weeks to anticipate. My older son said that was perfect, as the countdown wasn't so far out.

We will be flying, as missing school is an issue as the kids get older. We have a break the 3rd week of October, so the kids will only miss 3 days of school. I love cruising in October, as the weather is still nice in Florida, and the prices aren't as high.

we will be enjoying this cruise as part of a reunion with our adoption agency, CCAI. Then back off to WDW for Food and Wine Festival. ;)

We have not finalized our plans yet, but it looks like we will be joining you. :cool1: It will be myself and my best friend. Just a girls trip. This will be our second Disney cruise, and our first on the Dream. We are planning to go to the parks for 3 days after cruise. Can't wait to meet all of you. Yes we did the FE last time and enjoyed it. Would love to do it again.

We love September and October as well for cruising.

You could always do something like go and buy or get items towards pirate costumes and tell them they are invited to a large pirate party on October 14th.

When they ask for more details you could tell them then. LOL Maybe October 1st!

Woohoo! More new friends! Welcome aboard! :dance3::dance3::grouphug:

Welcome newcomers. Its exciting to have more people join the Meets.

I like the pirate party idea, we could use the what I buy for the surprise on Pirate night also. I think I will wait until the end of the school year, or over the summer, I have kids birthdays to get through for the next three months, and then my daughters dance seems to kick into high gear as we get closer to spring also.

Is anyone planning to do Atlantis in Nassau? Or more directly Comfort Inn near Nassau?

On a sad note, one of the first grade teachers at my sons school is in need of some pixie dust. His parents are the missing American couple that has not been recovered from the half sunk Costa Concordia:sad1:(

That is very sad. I'll keep them and their families in our thoughts...

I'm not sure we are even getting off in Nassau. We did it before there was a comfort inn thing. We did the aquariums and a tour of Nassau excursion then. That was before it got all popular and stuff. :cool1:

Hey everyone,

If you want your info on the front page please let me know and give me the following info to post.

So if you send something like this I can add it. Who and ages, stateroom, dining rotation, FE yes or no, Disney cruise #

Even though some of you have said this info, without knowing if you want it posted on page 1, I don't do it.

Thank you,

Carry on with your day. :cool1:

Hi there,
you can put my info on the front page.
Who
Me Mom (42)
DS (17)
DD (12)
DS (9)

I don't know my stateroom or dining rotation yet, I rescheduled my cruise, and have paperwork from the original cruise date. I am still on the fence as far as FE. I think it will depend on how big the group gets. This is cruise #3 for us.
