We just got back yesterday from our second Disney cruise (first on the Dream) and I loved reading all the helpful trip reports so I thought I would do a short one too. First let me say that we had an amazing time! It was me, DH, DMiL, DD9 & DS3. We were in stateroom #9578 which was a 4A on Deck 9.

Embarkation: We arrived around 9:20ish and were told by the security guard to park the car and WAIT in it until 9:45 because there were still people getting off the ship and that the porters weren't there to take our luggage. As we drove passed the entrance I could see that people were still exiting and there were people waiting for shuttles but also saw a separate line of people to the left. So I headed to that line and sure enough they were already lining up to get on the ship. I probably got in line at 9:30 and there were 12 people in front of us. They let us in right at 10:00 and I marched ahead to get the health form filled out and headed to the counter lines where I saw the boarding # lady. I was ecstatic when she handed me #2!! This process was what I was most worried about. We were on the ship by 12:00 and eating lunch at Cabana's right after.

Cabanas: We went right outside to secure a table before getting food. The table we wanted sat 4 so I asked a gentleman in a crisp, white uniform if I could take a chair from another table and he said I could do anything I wanted to...nice! Then my mother-in-law notices that it was the Captain! oops! He was very nice and we snapped a pic with him. Cabanas had a great selection for lunch and the bahama mama's went down too fast!

Stateroom: We had a Deluxe Family Stateroom w/Veranda it it was wonderful! The queen bed was very comfortable and always love the split bathroom. The round tub with rain shower was awesome! My DS3 fit perfectly in the bath....great job Disney. Love, love the veranda. My only complaint is that we were on the starboard side and we did smell smoke several times. I know that it's a heated topic and that smoking is allowed on this side of the ship. I tried to see where it was coming from and on time I saw someone smoking one deck down and maybe 6 staterooms away. We were sailing at the time so I was really surprise it was reaching us. I really love the view of Castaway on the starboard side but I think we'll have to stay on the port side next time. It didn't ruin our trip by any means but it did make us leave our veranda several times.

Shows: They were wonderful! We saw Golden Mickey's (we saw this on the Wonder) and Believe. We watched most of Villians from our stateroom. We had Palo ressies that night and I also wasn't sure if my DS3 should see it. Believe was awesome and I definitely had tears at the end. It didn't help that the girl in the show is named Sophia and so is my DD9. The only matinee was Believe on Castaway Cay day.

Kids club: We used the Club and Lab. The first night I felt a little apprehensive about leaving DS3 in there because it seemed busy but I knew he had his sister with him. The next day we went in the morning and it wasn't as hectic so I felt like the CM's could give more individual attention. They both loved it and it was so nice to have a little adult time.

Restaurants: Our waitlist came through for main dining a week before we sailed. I was very undecided about which one I wanted because I liked the idea of not having to rush in the afternoon but I don't like to eat so late at night either. But what I realized was that if you had late seating (8:15) you had to go to the 6:15 show and I like to sit close to the front so I would really have to be there by 5:45 which was the same time as main dining. So, we decided to keep main. I will say that I could tell that our servers were rushed especially the first night. We had Animator's the first night and I thought it was ok. The show is cool but it's really loud and hard to talk over it. We skipped Enchanted Garden on the second night and went to Palo's (our first time) and loved the food, service and experience. Royal Palace was our last night and it felt a little more relaxed but I could tell our servers were hustling. Each night they got our kids meals out fast and then one of us took them to the club so we could finish our dinner. Our food came out quickly too so no problem there.

Pools: Yes, the pool area is busy but I remember the Wonder being busy too. I really didn't come on a cruise to be at the pool ALL day. We spent some time here on embarkation day and Nassau day. DD9 and I rode the Aquaduck together on Nassua day and waited about 20-25 minutes. I didn't think it was that bad of a wait seeing how it was around lunch and the pool was very busy. It was alot of fun!

Spa: We did the Rainforest room which was awesome! The steam room, sauna, jacuzzi on deck were all great. I went back in before my Bliss package and sat in a heated lounger....incredible! I almost fell asleep. The treatment rooms in the spa are to die for. I worked in the spa industy for 12 years so I love the aesthetics of a spa! I had a wonderful therapist named Bobbie who had a great touch and really worked out some knots in the back and shoulders.

Castaway: Always a highlight of our cruise. Perfect weather! We were off the ship by 9:30ish and had our pick of spots. The water was a little chilly for me but I'm a cold water wimp! I got warmed up by the sun and the "drink of the day" and got in right after early lunch. Beautiful day!

Debarkation: We went to Cabanas around 8am and breezed off the ship and through customs...very painless!

That's it for now...but feel free to ask any questions!

Yes the room will be plenty big for 4 people. We had 5 (3 adults/2 kids) and we were fine. I think having the veranda makes a huge difference. It's like having an additional room. We had plenty of room for storage. All the suitcases fit perfectly under the bed so they don't take up any room in the closet. We loved the location of the room and you'll only be six rooms down from where we were. We were so close to the midship elevators but far enough away to not hear any noise from that area. If we were headed to deck 11 for food/pool, etc. we just took the stairs...very easy.

As far as "little ones" go..I'm not sure if your son still naps but mine is a 2-3 hour napper. He has been having an occasional skip day lately but he napped on Nassau day and Castaway day. We thought he would skip his nap on Castaway day but the sun wiped him out so he was ready to go down by 3. I think it meant for a better night for all of us. He was able to eat dinner with us, then go to the kids club while we finished dinner and had an after dinner drink then go to the 8:30 show. My advice would be to make sure he gets some rest time so you can enjoy your evening. I don't know how many nights you'll be onboard but ours was only 3 and there is no way we could get everything done even if he didn't nap. Dh & I took turns being in the room with him so the other could do something fun with dd.

Did you do online check in or did you just do it at the port? Did it seem that the boarding number was based on time arrival to port? Did you park on 3rd level of parking garage and walk over bridge like some have posted? How was the food at royal palace?

How crowded was Cabana's on the last day? How did the buffet selections compare to other mornings? :confused3

I see that you went to Canbanas on Debarkation morning. What were the offerings like? Were they limited or about the same as the other days?

We did online check in and the first arrival time was 11:00-11:30. We arrived around 9:30 and there is no way that the lady giving out the boarding numbers could have known our time. She didn't ask us for anything...name, if we've cruised before, etc. I just walked up to her and she handed me a boarding card so it was obviously based on first come first served. We parked in the uncovered lot right next to the garage and went to the main entrance.

I liked the food at Royal Palace. I got the chicken, my husband got the beef and my mother in law got the boar:scared1: She wasn't crazy about the boar but she is a foodie and harder to please. The desert was awesome! Dh had creme brule' which was really good and I had the grand marnier souffle' which was incredible!

I grabbed a table next to Nemo's Reef outside before you walk into Cabanas. The tables inside seemed busier but there wasn't a wait to get food so it was very fast. We ordered room service for breakfast the other days so I can't compare the selections but they had lots to offer on the last day...pancakes, eggs, bacon, oatmeal w/toppings, doughnuts, pastries, assorted breads, cheeses & more.

We were on the same cruise.... and even had the same dining rotation. We had a great time with no complaints. We even rebooked a 7-night for next December :thumbsup2

We were also on this cruise. I had read terrible reports about the boarding process, pools, etc., and we experienced nothing but great things! Yes, the pools are busy, but we didn't seem to feel overcrowded. Our daughter rode the aquaduck 3x and we waited 20 min or so each time. The view on the days we waited were unbelievable so no complaints from us for waiting!! The elevators were busy during dinner/show time, but the stairs seemed to be super easy to take for us. This was our first cruise and we had a blast!!

Glad you had a wonderful time - just to clarify the smoking situation. Smoking is permitted on either side of the ship on private verandahs. I didn't want anyone to think that if they went with the port side verandah, there would never be anyone smoking near them.

My bad...you are totally right! I think I misread about designated smoking areas on the starboard side thought it also meant verandas. Thanks for the info!

Oh I am so excited to read your trip report. We have booked a Dream cruise in May 2012 with rooms, 9578, 9580 and 9582. Disney has not been able to answer my questions and since you have actually stayed in one of the rooms we reserved, maybe you can help me?? First, could you open your veranda to room 9580 (the room on your right?) And second, did you have that partially obstruction on the left side of your veranda? We are hoping to be able to open the verandas to all three rooms, but no one at Disney knows for sure! It sounds like the room is in a good location. I know my kids in one room want to access the drink station at all times of the day and night! Also, do you know if the Frozone ice cream station is open late at night? Really appreciated reading your trip report and sounds like you had a fabulous time.:o

Hi Karen! You will love the room! It's beautiful and in a great location! To answer your questions...yes, the partial veranda obstruction is on the left of the veranda and I'm pretty sure that you can't open the veranda to the right. 9578 is a connecting room with 9576 and it looked like you could open the veranda with that room. We didn't try to do it since we didn't occupy the other room. 9580 & 9582 are connecting so it looks like you'll be able to open the veranda between those two. Being on deck 9 was great because you have staterooms above and below you and you're only 2 decks up to the drink station so you're kids will like that. I just checked my navigators and it says that Eye Scream is open 11:00am-11:00pm. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. :goodvibes
