Dream: May 22, 2011

Got my FE in the mail yesterday. It's so darn cute :lovestruc

I started packing, but kept thinking oh I need that before the trip so no use in packing it. Hopefully tonight I can really get on the ball.

Tracykim - you lucky girl, 7 nights on the Dream:cool1:

We (and several of the rest of you) are at the "single digit" point till we leave - 9 Days:cheer2::banana::cheer2:

The suitcases got their final "go over" last night to make sure everything was packed where it needed to be. I have a bag for overnight on the train, a case for the hotel and 2 suitcases and Don's rolling carryon for his beer for the cruise, and they are all labeled so that Don doesn't have to wonder what goes where - I guess I am a bit little OC;). That comes from one trip where I had 2 garment bags ready to go. When we left the house, I asked him if he had BOTH garment bags, "Yes dear", are you absolutely sure? "Yes dear, I got them both". Well, when we got to the destination, guess what - only 1 garment bag!! Luckily both our clothes were spread between the 2 bags, so I just had to do laundry once. That's when I found out that I didn't really need all of the extra clothes I was packing.

We leave a week from tomorrow:cool1::banana::cheer2:for WDW... This is our second time going, but it has been several years....
We are doing 2 day park-hopper passes and quick service meal plan.. Last time we had dinner reservations and character dining reservations well in advance, but since we were cruising too, I didn't do any of that stuff...

Does anyone have any dining places that you would say we should not MISS, or a show that we HAVE to make?? I know I'm a slacker, but it is the end of the school year and I really have not been on my A-game for planning-

If any of you experts:grouphug: have recommendations I would GREATLY appreciate them!!:)
Oh, and if you know where I can get a starbucks close to AKL, that would be helpful too:)

Thanks:)

we live approx 1 1/2 hours away. we frequently go to pigeon forge for the day or to spend weekend. by the way, we will be seeing dolly in concert in june in knoxville !!!!!

I just love that song , her with Kenny singing Islands in the Stream , don't you?

Oh, I have a lot of good restaurants to hit.... :)

Do you have certain food-types that you want to avoid, or are specifically looking for? Are you looking for sit-down or counter service?

these are my opinions and i know i could think of more if i tried, but rightoff. the must sees are presidents hall of fame, muppets 3d, beauty and the beast, and at least 1 parade at magic kingdom. the best quick service i think is dinner at coronado springs (you can go to any of the resorts to eat), cosmic rays or liberty tree (i think) in magic kingdom. i love epcot you can eat a lot of things there they have really good fish and chips in england. the best snacks as an adult are the funnel cakes and strawberry shortcake sundaes both are at the kingdom. too many to mention, but these are just a few
Thanks:)

well as you may think, we love dolly around here. she is such a smart lady in my book. she has really accomplished a lot in her llife. i dont think she can do anything wrong . i just love hearing her talk. and i think she is so pretty. :thumbsup2

Liberty Tree Tavern in MK is not counter service (although it is really yummy!) - you might be thinking of Columbia Harbor House, which in our opinion is one of the hidden gems of MK counter service ;). We make sure to eat lunch there every time we go! Cosmic Ray's is also awesome, mostly because of the sheer variety; it has several "bay" and each has a different menu, sure to please the whole family.

Are you considering any sit-down restaurants? 'Ohana and Kona Cafe at the Polynesian Resort are absolutely amazing, our favs! We like dinner at 'Ohana and breakfast at Kona Cafe.

La Hacienda at Epcot is fantastic, and has great views of the World Showcase. You can do sit-sown there, or there is counter service as well.

I have tons more to suggest but I've just been told the burgers are ready for dinner, gotta go! More later :goodvibes

My husband, will probably want something sit-down for dinner. My son will eat whatever, wherever.. My daughter- she tells people she's a vegetarian- only the not the healthy kind because she only wants to eat french fries!!:rotfl:
So we don't really plan meals around the kids- so we actually can do most any type of food- if my husband had his say- dinner would be steak:)

any suggestions greatly appreciated:)

thanks for the tips-- making me hungry and ready to head south!! got to make it through the last 5 days of school!! The kids in my class are ready for summer as much as I am:)
thanks again!!

Although I'm partial to resort restaurants instead of park restaurants (except in EPCOT), most anywhere you hit will be tasty. With that said, here is my list:

Sit-down:
MK area - Whispering Canyon Cafe (Wilderness Lodge) - A lot of fun for the family. BBQ theme. Don't ask for ketchup.

Epcot - Teppan Edo has great Japanese. The filet mignon/shrimp combo is my favorite. Another kid favorite, as the chefs put on a show while they cook your food. For "fine dining", some say Le Cellier (Canada) has the best steaks in WDW, but getting a table is hard to find. Both restaurants in France are stellar, as well.

Hollywood Studios - Unless you want to walk (or boat) over to EPCOT, or halfway to the Boardwalk to hit the Flying Fish Cafe, the only restaurant I would recommend here is the Hollywood Brown Derby. Everything I've eaten here has been great, but if you're a fan of Cobb Salads, they make the best ever.

Animal Kingdom - A short bus ride to Animal Kingdom Lodge will get you to Boma (buffet) or Jiko (dinner only). Jiko is one of my favorites.

Counter Service:

- MK - Columbia Harbour House
- Epcot - Rose and Crown (fish and chips with a Bass Ale - yum)
- Hollywood Studios - I don't have anything here.
- AK - Flame Tree Barbecue - Probably the best counter service I've had lately.

Sorry for the long reply. If you have found other restaurants you're interested in, let me know and I'll let you know if we've hit it yet.... :)

Whispering Canyon at WL is wonderful! Sooo much fun. And I disagree, definitely ask for ketchup :lmao:

Boma is great, we really enjoy it - you have wonderful variety of new things for the adults to try, and the less adventurous kids will have their staples! The breakfast buffet is also good.

For counter service in Epcot, we always do Sunshine Seasons in The Land (near Soarin'). This is another place that has huge variety to please all appetites. I love the half a roast chicken - too much food but sooo tasty!
