Isn't there any-other way to fly to MCO out of Spokane than stopping over in Vagas?On the SWA-Ding two days ago they had Chicago midway to Spokane for $99.00. And right now the cost for flying Chicago to Orlando is $ 139.00. I see where[SWA] they just opened up the flying time to AUG. now. The cut off was Fri. June 3rd.We are not coming home till Sat. June 4th. AS of right now we are going to drive.

I booked based solely on cost on this one! I am willing to spend the whole day traveling, for a cheaper flight....... I could have gone from MSO->DEN->MCO with only one hour layover on the day I purchased tickets, for $250 more than I paid. Including ticketing fees (booked directly with SW) it was $391 and change for the round trip going from GEG->LAS->MCO and returning MCO->DEN->GEG. Personally, I could have waited a bit longer to buy tickets, as two of our traveling party are doing, but for me? I want everything I can get done and in stone long before travel time.

Change of plans for us. My sons school is pitching one more fit about him missing the last 3 days of school. Totally irritates me because last year he missed the last 2 days of school to go to WDW and they never do anything at the end of a school year it's more like babysitting. My son never misses a day of school and if he does it's for a routine dental appointment that's excused. He only has those twice a year. The school board has really cracked down this year on familes that take vacations during school. I could understand it if he missed school all of the time but he doesn't. I have an idea why they're really cracking down this year. Last year this woman took her 3 kids out of school right before christmas break to go to WDW. Now what got me was she took them out the week before a 3 week christmas break and they had exams that week. I guess everyone else in the school system has to suffer because of her stupidity.

Anyway we're going to WDW May 27th - June 1st. Got free dining with the deluxe dining plan, hopper passes and staying at Coronado Springs for 1,890.00. Son doesn't want to go he had rather go on vacation with my parents to the beach so it gives my hubby and I a chance to enjoy some time alone. We have decided to go ahead and book a cruise for May 2012 around the same time.

It's all good, a little disappointed but looking forward to spending some time alone with my husband. All of you have a wonderful safe time and enjoy the Dream. Have a drink for us.

Well that just sucks Melissa! My DSs school made a tiny stink about him missing so much school this quarter already (yeah, we have all been farkin sick a lot this fall) and I literally asked them if they were going to arrest me for "contributing to the deliquency of a minor" and the principal wisely shut the @#$% up. In MT legally they can not do anything if we pull a child out of school.


As for flying from Spokane, well Missoula, MT is 96 miles to the border of MT/ID.... then its 70 miles across N.ID, and another 40 miles from the WA/ID border to the I-90 exit for the airport. I used to make the Missoula to Spokane drive weekly, and have done the round trip (picking up auction cars) twice in one day....... So honestly flying from GEG is not THAT much extra hassle, and if it was Just myself and my son, I would probably drive from missoula the morning of our flight...... but since I have traveling companions not used to my "if we arent stopping for gas, your SOL on a potty break" travel ways!

Melissa, sorry things aren't going to work for the cruise, but I would imagine you and your DH will enjoy some time on you own. That's such a nice feeling sometimes.

Don: NO, bathing suits are not "optional" if you're gonna be there you better have some clothes on!!!

Jim: If you are going to Pittsburgh for Don to pick you up, stop on your way across PA and pick us up. We'll all crowd into that van. And as for being Chairman of the FE, i'm sure that will get you "extra special" attention.

On a more serious note, I would not be happy with having to do the scans and pat downs. Just seems overly invasive to me. Kind of reminds you of "Big Brother" from the book "1984" by George Orwell. What would scare me more than people boarding the plane is the large number of shipped packages from manufacturing/shipping companies that go into the hold of the plane without so much as a glance. Uhmmmm, intensly scan & probe people, but just because a company has a "good" track record, they can put anything they want on our planes, no problem. You have to wonder where their priorities are. Ok, I'm off my soapbox now.

Off to make homemade potpie for my DS. Yesterday, he called and said he'd be over to watch todays Steeler game and ended with "You know, I'm really hungry for your ham potpie", so you know what "mom's" making for supper....

: HI EVERYONE.........just checked in on the port webcam.......looks like the WONDER is getting rained on. YES , those "pat-downs" Are messing up a good thing [flying] ,did anyone of you see how many more people are oppting out of flying and driving instead to " grandmas" house this thanksgiving. DW said the %-numbers are way up.....Let's all go MAY DOUBLE DEUCE CRUISIN'....

Think about this. We are being subjected to the pat downs and scans...... yet a couple of my brainiac friends pointed out that they could make a pretty big boom by snagging some common cleaning chemicals off the janitors cleaning cart, and a roll of tums from the gift shop..... and they could certainly make a huge cloud of fatal nasty out of other common cleaning chemicals..... It is insulting that we are submitting to this "for our own good"

We just booked our cruise today!! There will be 5 of us and we'll be in 9150 and 9152. It's my college graduation present and my very first cruise! I'm so excited!

Poison and I are so fed up with this security assault that we are now driving down in January to drop our son Mark off for the College Program. We can't bring ourselves to give in to this invasion of privacy. I'm willing to go through a 16 hr road trip rather than let them treat us like criminals.

PS did you get any snow out your way last night?

This is a touchy subject for me right now! Every stinkin school in our COUNTY and the COUNTY SOUTH of us are closed. My kids school? OPEN! Blizzard warning. 5inches of snow overnight. Currently 7 degrees outside, with 30mph winds, gusts up to 60mph. ETO on all interstates, I-15 south of I90 is closed to ALL travel. Garbage trucks have been cancelled, city bus system has resorted to using their handicapped vans to run the routes, pending plows and sanders coming out. Plows have made attempts to clear the roads, but the gusts and reg wind are just blowing the light dry powder back into the roadway. Black ice on the road last night while coming home from DS parent teacher conference.. I am in pretty good shape, as I have a 4x4, and really don't HAVE to go anywhere today. Predicting friends calling while off in the ditch, so I might have to throw chains to go get them out.... but eh, at least im not running on a tow truck this year!
