Dream: May 22, 2011

:worship::worship: FORGIVE ME GUYS , I feel I have started up a new retirement hobby................being NOSEY...............4- :worship: me.

It's all good Don! Retirement? Whats that? Oh you mean the one that tanked when the market did? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I lost a LOT when that happened.....It was kind of that point in my life where I said "Bleep THIS" and decided that "someday" may never come, so why not do things while my son is still young, and have a blast when I can!
Hopefully come Feb-ish I will be out of the retail industry for good. I stepped down from management due to shady practices by my direct supervisors (ex? Report a drunk worker, and get told "hes a good employee, lets not rock the boat) that I was not willing to take the fall for. So right now, im selling the groceries, and will hopefully be a medical biller come feb!

First off, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Eat lots of good food and enjoy your families.

MTMomma,
I work for the municipal ambulance Authority. I've been there since 1983. When I started, we had 1 station and 24 paid employees. We now staff 5 stations and have 93 employees and cover most of the county. It's not a bad job, sometimes just nerve wracking. But it is never dull.

Don, Jim, etc.....
My DH is anxiously awaiting the day that he can retire. I think he should keep working to support his acquired cruise habit. This will be our 4th cruise. He is an RN with a Family Practice Residency program. We have been married 35
years and have 2 "kids" DS is 29 and DD is 27 and 1 grandson 3 1/2. Retirement for me will not be coming anytime soon.
My Don also had some pretty extensive shoulder surgery this past February, so I can sympathize with what you went thru. He still isn't back to 100% with it. And it was all from a nasty fall on the ice - tore up the rotator cuff, ripped tendons, tore the bicep.

AND, you aren't being "nosey" Don, just making friends.

Don, 43 years of marriage is fantastic. I give your wife all the credit. Women are truly amazing. I don't know what I'd do without Christine(DW). We have been together for almost 22 years, although only married for 4yrs today! We actually got married in 2006 at the Swan with alot of Disney events we enjoyed. Our kids are grown also DD28,DD26,DS21. Both girls stayed on the west coast after college, and our son is still home with us attending local college for engineering. We became Grandparents in Jan.2010 and love it.
I worked 12yrs in Phila. carpenters union before starting my own business which allows more time to enjoy life. Money comes and goes.....enjoying it while you can is what's important. In fact, I don't know the exact date, but it was right around my b-day(may22) in 2002 when I started my business. Christine is self-employed also as a CPA. We know we're going to love this cruise even though it's our first. We can't wait.

Happy Thanksgiving to all,
Jim

And, yes, about being married 43 years in May, the funny thing is I'll only turn 36 years old in DEC...........maybe P I the CPA can do the math on that. So do you go out west much? Cruising is fun, we really love it. Did I tell you we already have one booked on the Dream for Sept. and a eastern cruise in May,2012 on the Fantasy.I bet you and PI will become "hooked" like we have. And those grand babies are something else, we have three. Our DGS just turned 13 and our two granddaughters are 11 and 4. JIM you and your family have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

Don,
At least you sound 36. That's not a bad thing! We were in San Diego in May and the girls are coming east this January or February. The coastline is beautiful. Our DGD is almost 11 months old now and she is gorgeous. We get to see her on Skype a few times a week. I wish I could reach through the computer and hug her! Technology can be a good thing.
We are considering a Fantasy cruise if this one goes well. I think I'm going to like this stuff. Floating around the ocean in luxury, eating as much of whatever I want in Disney style! You're right, I might get hooked!

Enjoy the family and the food,
Jim

I see that you reside in Pittsburgh. My DD is moving back there this week. She lived there for a couple of years, moved back here, now has secured a much better job there, so she's moving back. She loves Pittsburgh. I will be looking forward to going back to hit my favorite shopping spots as well as the Strip district. I especially like the Macaroni Co, Penzy's spice store, and the Chinese and Mexican grocery stores.

Henlady,
We also have ties to The Pittsburgh area. DW's sister lives about 15 minutes from the strip. We have shopped there on a few occasions and enjoyed Seafood from Wholey's and bread from Mancini's. In fact I'm heading out there on Monday for a job. I still think we should all meet there in May, and hop into Husurdady's shiny new van for a leisurely ride to the port.

Jim

mmmmmm, Mancini's -some of the best bread around. Have you had their pepperoni bread/roll?? So delicious.:thumbsup2
When DD lived in Pgh last time, she occasionally had business dealings with the owner, one day she was telling him how much she loved their breads, the next time he saw her, he brought her a loaf of bread still warm and fresh from the oven. She said she was in heaven.

Kris,
I'm definitely going to try some of the pepperoni bread this trip. Sounds delicious!

Has anyone been following the Dream lately? Last I saw she was in drydock. I know they are scheduled to hand over the keys real soon. We're hoping to see her at Port Canaveral when we're there in January.

Jim

Good afternoon, everyone.

My family and I (this time it will be 11 of us) are heading out for our third DCL cruise, and can't be more excited about going on the new ship. I need to go back and read the 30+ pages that have already been written, but I wanted to see if anyone was doing fish extenders this trip, and if so, whether or not it was too late for us to get on the list. If there is a list, would it be OK if we joined in? We have five kids total - 10, 8 and 6 year old boys, and 4 and 2 year old girls (being brought by my wife and I, my sister and her husband, and our two parents).

Hope all is well with everyone, and once I catch up on my reading, I hope to meet everyone to say hi!

Talk with you soon.

Ryan

Hey Dady,
All that means is that your a year older since you booked!:rotfl::lmao: I guess that makes you 37 right? It must be nice to be so young and RETIRED!:beach::dancer::hourglass
DA BEARS played well and the Eagles made too many mistakes.

Your's Truly,
Mr. Quest

Hey DON,

Mr. Quest

Sorry, you are wrong MR. J Q I'm 26 this week, up to this Sat [the 4th , my birthday], then I turn 36. I told you once before, as you get older you start to see things back-wards.

Good Day all!
Welcome to the cruise, Ryan and Family.

Well, it's been raining "cats and dogs" here for the past two days, it let up a little by mid morning, but turned to snow instead. Now we have accidents because it started to freeze a bit on the roads and people don't know how to drive - MTMomma, you know how that goes.
Of course my windshield wipers stopped working in the middle of driving home last evening, could barely see, so had to take the car to the garage this morning to get fixed. It's done and actually didn't cost me my entire next pay to take care of it.

I want to be sitting on a lounge chair or hammock on Serenity Bay beach with a nice cold double Rum and Coke in one hand and a good book in the other.:cloud9:

Oh ick! rain on cold roads! LOL Glad your wipers were fixed pretty cheaply! I actually had to use 4WD to get OUT of my driveway the other day.... Was NOT a happy camper! My friends in the south called me all crazy like, cause I was outside in a sweatshirt and a down vest, in 18 degree weather! :rotfl: I have yet to actually put on a winter coat this year, and am shooting for an entire winter without it!
Been doing a bit too much of this :surfweb: for school, and not nearly enough of this :cloud9: Counting down, and really wish I was on a beach somewhere.... Cant wait for the maiden voyage so we get actual photos from real cruisers of our beautiful ship!
