Dream: May 22, 2011

My family and I have decided that we just cannot afford to do Disney World in February for my oldests bday and do the cruise in May immediately after. We had been thinking about this earlier, but then after my dh's accident , it was just quite obvious that it wouldn't be possible. We had to ask for our deposit back to be able to pay bills, etc. I am looking forward to our first trip to WDW, though! Hope you all have a great time and drink a nice cold drink for me on deck.

tngal,
Sorry to here you won't be cruising. I'm sure things will work out for the best. We're really glad to hear your husband is doing better.

so sorry to hear this. was looking forward to this. you all will have such a great time at disney though. have something to do all the time.

tngal,
It's a shame that you aren't able to cruise the Dream with us, but you have an awesome trip to look forward to in February. Your "Dream" trip will come thru at some point for you, I'm sure. We've had life get in the way of our plans and have had to put trips on hold in the past also, so I know how you feel:hug:
I hope your husband is feeling better and mending well. Take care.

I'll have a nice cold drink on the upper deck for you and one for your husband too!:rotfl:

One of the presentations/demonstrations they gave was on womans fashions of the day. I also thought it would be "fun" to dress like that. But after seeing what all they wore, there is no way!!!. One of the ladies who gave the demo said she was dressed "light" for the day due to the heat so she only had 4 layers on. They normally started with wool socks and shoes - these had to go on first because with the hooped skirts they couldn't reach their feet to put them on last. Then came a chemise, and pantaloons (long legged split crotch undies) - don't get excited boys, that was necessary because when the ladies were out, with all of the hoops for the skirt and other clothing items they couldn't get to the underwear to get them down if they had to go to the "ladies room" so they had to just squat over the "receptical . Then came a long under gown with short sleeves, a corsette, a hooped slip that for every day use had 4 hoops, but for dressier wear, they would have one with 5 or 6 hoops, then a long sleeved, high neck dress. The lady said that they seldom washed the outer dress :eek:because it never actually touched the skin. The cuffs of the sleeves and collar were just basted on so that they could be removed and washed if they got dirty and then basted back onto the dress. It was so hot that day, I was in a pair of capri's and a lightweight top and I was roasting. I could not imagine wearing all that stuff, but I guess if you were used to dressing like that all the time it may not have been so bad.
So, there is your history lesson for the day. Hope you enjoyed it. :goodvibes

not such a good way to spend day. guess i will just have to watch from the sidelines.

5/22/11. 2 verandah cabins on deck 10. I went with aft facing verandahs. Hope we like that. It will be me and mom in one, my brother and his family in the other. Our first family vacation together with all of us, all grown up. We are beyond excited and it is getting closer every day. :cool1:

Oh, for half of the group, their first Cruise, Disney or otherwise. For some of us, second Disney Cruise. We went on the 5 day Wonder in July. It was a blast.

Thanks , B-4 the sept 26th cruise, we are staying 3 nights at POFQ.....U ever stayed there? If so how many pools do the have? But, and this is a x-your -fingers but.If we get our OKW re-sale points that we just bought by then we will stay home at OKW.As for the Sept cruise,dw is layed up W / foot surgery [11 days now post op] ,so I thought I would serve her breakfast in bed, so I asked her what she wanted, she said; "MORE SNOOZE" ,me not only seeing my age numbers backwards sometimes and alittle "tone"deaf, I thought she said "MORE CRUISE", so I let her sleep and went an booked us a Sept cruise. :lmao: :rotfl2:

just back from disney world. stayed at port orleans riverside. the buses run both french and riverside. i saw a lot of the french quarters. looked nice. both sides are very relaxing. riverside had several pools with a large in in middle, i assume. there is also a boat that takes you to downtown disney.

Thanks for the "info" on PO. And guess what went into our account at DVC monday.............you guessed it, our add on resale pts. it took 8 weeks to the day to get them.Got on the phone to DVC and rebooked for OKW.Then I cancelled POFQ , for the 3 days before our Sept , 26th cruise and one day at CB after cruising, saved something to the tune of $480.00. This will be our 6 th and last cruise ever on the Wonder [ not unless it goes to Hawaii in the future]. :thumbsup2 But, never say never. :thumbsup2

Popping in to say hi and to say that we may be switching from this cruise to the one on Oct. 16th. Due to finances we may not be able to go so soon. If that happens I'll need someone to take over the FE exchange list.

Count us in!!!

It will be me, DH, DD11 and DD14!! This cruise will be our second leg of a B2B.

We are in stateroom 6058. Cat 5D Deck 6.

We plan on doing FE's for both cruises!!

The B2B's will be Christmas present surprises for my girls!!! I hope I can keep them a secret until then!!!

Welcome to the Dream TracyKim. We're very excited to have you on board. Our FE is will be fun for everyone I'm sure. The B2B is a great gift for your girls. They're going to love it.

Welcome, Jim

Welcome aboard gailg3horses and Tracykim!!:goodvibes

We are in an aft verandah on deck 6. I'm really looking forward to trying that area. I think it will be great to sit on the verandah and watch everything fade in the distance. Besides I tend to get motion sick  watching things slide by sideways, so hopefully this will do the trick. And it will be a straight shot up to Cabanas and down to the adult club area. Can't wait.

It's official...we have bumped our cruise out to Oct 16th. It stinks to have to bump it out, but it will be better to cruise on the Dream in October then to not go at all!

I have the FE list so I need someone to take over doing it for the cruise.

We are a family of three from UK including our soon to be 10 year old son Luke
We had rebooked whilst on the Disney Magic on the Med cruise in May for August but just decided to move to this one in May.

Really sorry to hear your plans have changed. We'll be glad to take over the FE. Never done it though so any help is welcome.

Hi! So we are dang sure that we are going to be booking this cruise, and want to participate in the FE, and will have two others on board in our "hometown group." Is it possible to put us in the FE group before we have actually booked? I dont want to miss out on this by a simple late booking!
If we can be added to the list, its

3 adults
Terra
George
Naomi

1 child
Chance (8-will turn 9 onboard)
