i havent been on this site in few weeks. husband surprised me with a trip for our family to disney world august 1. so... i am sure everyone understands about this, i have been doing my research and planning for this trip i am always thinking about you lisa and family. i hope your husband is feeling better. hope to be included in the fish extender.,

We got our 11c gty. cabin assignments already!
I have to say I was excited to see them until I realized we are not in connecting cabins with my in-laws. We booked gty 11c as we had to bump our date from May 15th to the 22nd(we changed it back in Dec). Almost all the inside cabins are connecting on the Dream.
We do have connecting cabins but not to each other...to other people. I think that's strange that we got 2021 and 2015. We have one cabin booked as me, mil and my dd and one as my dh, fil and 2 ds's(we had rebooked while onboard). We then planned to have me and dh together in one room with 2 kids and then the kids could take turns each having a turn in grammy and poppy's cabin.
My in-laws are not gonna be too happy, especially since one of our kids will be sleeping with them. They'll have to go back and forth down the hall...oh well, at least we're on the same floor! Plus it's their 1st cruise and I'm sure they'll survive...even if I have to listen to my mil gripe about it!

Maybe we'll get some pixie dust sprinkled on us before the cruise and end up getting connecting ones!

So glad to hear that your husband is on the mend. I was hoping we'd hear good news soon, so that's great :goodvibes

Does having a gty mean that you can't call and have it changed? Are there other connecting 11C's that are open on our cruise? Can you do a mock booking to see what's open still and maybe move your rooms or does gty basically restrict you from doing that?

Sounds like a great idea!! Just wanted to let you and everyone else know that I had to take him for another follow up visit today, and he got another great report! He has been released to go back to work on light duty next wk. Dr. said that light duty would probably be for around 6 wks. We will have to go to Marietta,ga on and off for the next yr. Thanks again for all your prayers and encouragement!

Melmathis, we will def. have to get together and do that! We need to get together for lunch or something one day too!

Lisa,
So glad to hear your husband is on the road to recovery. Sometimes being able to get back to work and to as close to a regular schedule as possible is the best medicine.

It's been very hot here in Central PA for the past few weeks, and I am not a fan of very hot/humid weather. On the other hand DH LOVES it, go figure.
He'd think he was in heaven if every day was in the 90's. He even prefers to golf in that type of heat. Give me the air conditioner!!!

We went to Gettysburg for one day of the battle re-enactments over the July 4th weekend. First time we've gone for this event. It was very interesting and informative. I actually learned a lot. DH and DD said they definately want to go back next year, but for at least 2 days.

Hope you all have a great weekend. And keep counting down those days!!!

i have always wanted to go to one of the reenactments of the civil war. i live near chattanooga, tn. i believe they have one there at chickamauga. i always thought it would be fun to be one of the women dressed in period clothing as part of the act.

One of the presentations/demonstrations they gave was on womans fashions of the day. I also thought it would be "fun" to dress like that. But after seeing what all they wore, there is no way!!!. One of the ladies who gave the demo said she was dressed "light" for the day due to the heat so she only had 4 layers on. They normally started with wool socks and shoes - these had to go on first because with the hooped skirts they couldn't reach their feet to put them on last. Then came a chemise, and pantaloons (long legged split crotch undies) - don't get excited boys, that was necessary because when the ladies were out, with all of the hoops for the skirt and other clothing items they couldn't get to the underwear to get them down if they had to go to the "ladies room" so they had to just squat over the "receptical . Then came a long under gown with short sleeves, a corsette, a hooped slip that for every day use had 4 hoops, but for dressier wear, they would have one with 5 or 6 hoops, then a long sleeved, high neck dress. The lady said that they seldom washed the outer dress :eek:because it never actually touched the skin. The cuffs of the sleeves and collar were just basted on so that they could be removed and washed if they got dirty and then basted back onto the dress. It was so hot that day, I was in a pair of capri's and a lightweight top and I was roasting. I could not imagine wearing all that stuff, but I guess if you were used to dressing like that all the time it may not have been so bad.
So, there is your history lesson for the day. Hope you enjoyed it. :goodvibes
