noahsmom... thanks for getting FE's organized. I'm new to dis boards and new to cruising, but FE's sound like great fun!
I have been reading the DIS boards like crazy, and some cruises have "rules" for their FE... like the first night you drop off an item that typifies your home town, or day two is a special gift for moms... all sorts of fun/crazy ideas. While others are pretty loosely organized.
Any insight to how ours will be run? Just want to start planning now (especially if categories are involved), but am open to however people want to do it. I've only participated in one other FE (kept the list for that one also) and it was HUGE - 40+ families. That exchange was loose, people delivered their items whenever was best for them. It all seemed to work out and everyday there were items in our pockets. So it really depends on how many we get on our list. We can take a poll and see what people think, I'm for keeping it loose. We will be busy checking out the new ship!
I also am curious about a "dis-meet" how do those work? Someone sets a time and place to meet at the beginning of the cruise. This is a great way to update the FE list for those who may upgrade rooms at the terminal. Often it's on the top deck prior to the sail away party. Since I believe we will all be new to the Dream we may want to read trip reports to see what area seems to be the most convenient for this,.
And... (sorry, but I am full of questions) how "formal" is formal? You will see it all - some men in tuxedos, some in shorts. My DH wears a suit, I wear a nice dress. DS wears dockers, dress shirt with a tie. Be as formal as you wish, the number of people is shorts is very small. In fact the dining rooms don't like you wearing shorts or jeans to dinner but I've seen it happen. Maybe people will be a little dressier because the ship is new.
Finally... where are people getting their great pirate wear??? The internet is a great source for this. Just google pirate costumes. We are pretty low key for this but I know my niece got her boys pirate costumes last Halloween just for the cruise,
Thanks in advance for any answers you and the rest of our fellow cruise-mates can offer.
