count us in for a dismeet.

me Donnetta
mom Helen
aunt Patricia
in memory of my daughter Clarke who is in Heaven with Walt.

We are Disney Freaks ans sailed every year. After Clarke died we have not sailed Disney since 2007.

What's new? What are fish extenders?

My heart clenched when I read your post. What a wonderful way to honor your daughter Clarke's memory! I am glad you are sailing and celebrating her with us.

It's a secret santa/gift exchange between DIS members who choose to participate. The Fish Extender is basically a pocketed holder that hangs on the fish clip outside your stateroom door. Then... throughout the cruise, other DIS members in the FE leave a gift in your Fish Extender throughout the cruise. Just a fun addition to the cruise if you choose to participate.

My daughter has hung her fish extender on her bedroom door....just in case we need to practice she told us. princess:

We are trying to figure out what we are doing the day we are at port in Nassau. We have been to Atlantis before. Looking for something fun for my 5 year old and myself to do while rest of family is with the Sea Lions. Any ideas?

We've never really done much in Nassau other than a little shopping. Most likely, we will stay on the ship unless Noah wants to go get a shirt at Del Sol.

SNOW! SNOW! SNOW! To much snow!
I am wishing I could click my heals and be in paradise. Oh, how I am missing my Disney Cruise friends. Mickey please use your MAGIC to make my Disney DREAM come true!

So what is everyone doing for the Super Bowl? We are sooooo excited! Thought about a party but decided to watch just the 3 of us - no interruptions/distractions. We watched the championship game with some neighbors which was nice but they wanted to watch alone for this one too. Here's a couple of pictures of the Wisconsin State Capitol - it's been illuminated in green & gold all week. Noah went down tonight to get some pictures. I was surprised by the big snow pile in the middle of the intersection. Go Packers!!!

Cold, dreary and rainy here is the Seattle-Tacoma area. Our cil-de-sac has organized a party and good times are expected to be had by all. I am jealous of your "just the 3 of us" day. There is a big part of me that wants to stay in my jammies and relax on the couch in front of the game. Go Packers!

We are def. interested in doing the FE exchange!
Jon, the dad :)
Kim, the mom :)
Morgan, 14, girl
Jon, 12

I can't find our room number although I think i posted it previously! I will go look!

Is there a post to see who is participating yet? I have started making some things, and the kids will be making gifts as well!

Kim I have added you to the FE list. I looked at the roll call list for your cabin number but it only says Deck 10.

noahsmom... thanks for getting FE's organized. I'm new to dis boards and new to cruising, but FE's sound like great fun!

I have been reading the DIS boards like crazy, and some cruises have "rules" for their FE... like the first night you drop off an item that typifies your home town, or day two is a special gift for moms... all sorts of fun/crazy ideas. While others are pretty loosely organized.

Any insight to how ours will be run? Just want to start planning now (especially if categories are involved), but am open to however people want to do it.

I also am curious about a "dis-meet" how do those work?

And... (sorry, but I am full of questions) how "formal" is formal?

Finally... where are people getting their great pirate wear???

Thanks in advance for any answers you and the rest of our fellow cruise-mates can offer.

Just booked this cruise. Was going to do the July 15th but my scheduled would not let me do that.
So it will be me (mom) and my DD who will turn 18 on July 12th she wanted to go after her 18th birthday so she could go to the adult pool and the spa. She is also graduating from high schoool in June and when I asked her what she wanted to do for her graduation she said she wanted to do a Disney Cruise and have alone time with me.
This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise, Sept 05 Magic 7 day, Dec 07 Wonder 4 day.
We are in a guaranteed 5E. Not sure what that means.
My DD doesn't know when we switched that she will be on a 5 nt. cruise. :lmao:
I want this to cruise to be full of surprises for her. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm excited now!!

we would love to do the fish extender thing. We did it on our Dec 07 cruise and had so much fun doing it.

Hi everyone!

Last summer on our cruise we did the FE and it was very relaxed. I really love doing the FE, my only concern is that if we get into a gift everynight it will get a little too pricey for us...

I'd be bummed to miss out on it, so I'll really try to still play whatever you guys decide. :)

Getting so excited! It's so so cold here this week, so I am dreaming of the warm July at Castaway Cay!

Budget is an issue for us too...but I will participate as much as I am able whatever is decided. From the pictures in the posts I have seen... it looks like people get tons of stuff no matter how it is organized.

noahsmom... thanks for getting FE's organized.

I've only participated in one other FE (kept the list for that one also) and it was HUGE - 40+ families. That exchange was loose, people delivered their items whenever was best for them. It all seemed to work out and everyday there were items in our pockets. So it really depends on how many we get on our list. We can take a poll and see what people think, I'm for keeping it loose. We will be busy checking out the new ship!

I also am curious about a "dis-meet" how do those work? Someone sets a time and place to meet at the beginning of the cruise. This is a great way to update the FE list for those who may upgrade rooms at the terminal. Often it's on the top deck prior to the sail away party. Since I believe we will all be new to the Dream we may want to read trip reports to see what area seems to be the most convenient for this,.

And... (sorry, but I am full of questions) how "formal" is formal? You will see it all - some men in tuxedos, some in shorts. My DH wears a suit, I wear a nice dress. DS wears dockers, dress shirt with a tie. Be as formal as you wish, the number of people is shorts is very small. In fact the dining rooms don't like you wearing shorts or jeans to dinner but I've seen it happen. Maybe people will be a little dressier because the ship is new.

Finally... where are people getting their great pirate wear??? The internet is a great source for this. Just google pirate costumes. We are pretty low key for this but I know my niece got her boys pirate costumes last Halloween just for the cruise,

Thanks in advance for any answers you and the rest of our fellow cruise-mates can offer.

My answers are in blue. Bring on the questions! Many of us are repeat cruisers. This is number 7 for us - all with Disney. In fact numbers 8&9 are booked for next summer on Fantasy. Yes - we are Disney addicts.
