Another referral volunteer here. I was referred, and the process is pretty painless. You should get the referral before you start the process; it is against policy to add the referral mid-process, although your DVC guide may still be able to hook you up rather than having you restart the process with a referral.

To stack bonuses, you might also want to:

• Take a tour and buy immediately after; I got a $1000 bonus for buying within 24 hours of a vacation.
• Take a tour while staying on-resort (any resort). The gift card reward is usually $50-100 but occasionally as high as $200.
• Purchase somewhere that currently has incentives (per point and flat rate with tiers based on the number of points)
• Get Magical Beginnings so Disney buys back your first year's points ($20/point was what I was quoted)
• Put your payment on a credit card for rewards

Create 10 posts on the Test Board if you cannot send direct messages yet.

It usually takes awhile. I had a referral for someone I KNOW purchased back in January, got the referral award 6 months later.

I've had 2 referrals a couple of years ago who turned into owners. I did get a dining gift card for the first one and nothing for the second one. When I asked, they told me that you can only get 1 gift per calendar year. Apparently, it's in the fine print in the very last paragraph (https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/dream-it-forward/terms)...



Seems pretty silly to me - they probably get at least $30K in revenue for each referral that turns into an owner, and some of them also end up buying more later on. Why would they disincentivize referrals that way just to save on dining gift card?

Can someone else on your membership refer someone and receive the gift card?

It shows the referral status online but I believe that it is tracked per member not membership.

Maybe so, but they let you have 12 referrals per member (contemporaneously) in the same calendar year. Why should that member get shortchanged if 3, 5, or 10 of those referrals were "great" and end up buying?

To me, it'd make more sense to actually offer progressively higher "prizes" for each subsequent referral who ends up buying in the same year. After all, the new buyers each get $500 off, which is much higher than the value of the dining card the referrer supposedly gets. Would it hurt them that much to offer $150 for the first, $200 for the second, $250 for the third etc? It'd certainly make some owners try to refer more...
