Dream it Forward/Referral Question

We are planning on purchasing our first DVC contract (direct) next month. I had an acquaintance forward me their referral link; I completed the information about 5 days ago and watched the free video. This article - Referral Incentive For First-Time Buyers - indicates a buyer must not have had previous contact with a sales representative? Is that really true? I didn't see that specifically mentioned on the official referral site, although it did say "additional restrictions and terms may apply." I met with a DVC guide one time back in 2017 on one of our trips and am wondering if I now won't be eligible for the $500 off?

And I guess part 2 of the question - assuming that I'm still eligible even though I made contact with a guide once before, should I be expecting a guide to reach out to me directly at this point or am I okay to call myself? I'm at the point where I have questions I need answered as we get our finances ready for the purchase, but every little bit helps and the $500 credit would be much appreciated so I don't want to mess up my chances there.

That has always been the case that if your name is in the system, you won’t qualify.

But all you can do is try! We don’t allow posters to offer themselves as referrals here so I am closing down the thread to prevent that!
