Dream Dilemma

there is actually a Fantasy double dip in May that is a 3 or 4 day that I would have been all over if my daughter didn't have her high school graduation during the cruise! :(

Hi All- my husband wants to sail on the Dream, but I'm worried a 3 or 4-night cruise will feel rushed and incomplete, as we've only done 7-nights previsoulsy (Wonder 2011, Fantasy 2016).

For those of you who did 7 nights first, then went on to 3 or 4 later: were the shorter cruises worth it? I would hate to feel disappointed or let down. I guess we could do a back to back... that might guarantee us a CC day, which we didn't get on either of the previous cruises!

***ack!! Typo in the heading, and I can't figure out how to edit that part.
We did lots of 7 night and longer cruises before our first 4 night cruise. What we did was tie it to a Fantasy B2B, making it seem like a much longer (20 night) cruise with a 2 day overnight between the Dream and Fantasy. Spent those two days at WDW.

We booked ours as a bonus but I can see it might be a case of Cruising scope creep lol.. first there was just WDW.. then that one off cruise ... then I wonder what Conceirge is like as a 'treat' ... then the b2b .. then bankruptcy..
There's nothing like a Disney cruise to perk you up after your release from debtor's prison...

We are thinking of booking a 3 night on the Dream this spring as well since we will be down that way for another matter...I think 3 nights will be better than no nights!
Yes, definitely. We cruised a 3-night on the Magic last year, and have wonderful memories. We just finished a 7-night on the Fantasy, and I loved being on her for a week, but am also looking forward to a 3-night booked on the Dream in December- my son would like to try all the different ships.

In general, longer is better, but a vacation doesn't have to be long to be great. As a person with a high-stress lifestyle and tight schedule, I'd rather take more frequent, short vacations than less frequent, long vacations. That way there is always a trip on the horizon to look forward to, and a fresh memory to reflect on.

I agree with you. We live in Orlando..............so a three night cruise is a quick drive to the Port friday morning and quick drive home Monday morning. We can still make it to work by 9 am and only have to take a vacation day from work on Friday.

if we were flying in from 1000 miles away, I would definitely want to do a week minimum to justify all the travel time and expense.

I started cruising with super long 3-week plus cruises with my family. Then took a break and somehow jumped back into on my own a few years later. I pretty much stuck to 7 night minimum.

Oddly enough I do 3-days on DCL now a few times a year and stick to longer cruises on other lines. But I can drive to the port in 30ish min. And have to take zero days off work. I take the mindset of a quick weekend getaway rather than a cruise.

I don't know that this would work for me if I had to fly a couple hours to the port or if I really really loved DCL (3 days of DCLis perfect for me)
