Dream Concierge Question

What?? Seriously? What is wrong with people? Sorry that happened to you. Some people have forgotten how to be kind...
Sometimes people just are on their most selfish behavior on vacation. It is a combination of alcohol, of course, but also the “I paid so much for this vacation so everything better be exactly the way I want it” mentality. Like the people who shove ahead of others who have been waiting to get on the elevators, or people who throw stuff on pool loungers on the floor because the loungers aren’t being “used” while someone goes to the bathroom or for a dip in the pool, or the flip side where people hog loungers they aren’t using “just in case”. There used to be a thread here on bad behavior witnessed on dcl that made for an entertaining read.

I wouldn’t worry a bit about access- they know that you literally have no choice but to go through those areas to get to your room with the way they’ve designed the ship.

I do concur with those that advised looking at the deck above (12) if you think you might prefer a completely open verandah, though.

Not true, you can go around from inside.

On our last cruise they had a cast member at the door directing people with children that they had to go back and around. I also read on another thread something similar. I think they are trying to detour people with children walking through there more than they did in the past.

only been on one cruise and that was on the Dream in room 12000. I did see a few people with one child go through the adult area but there was no CM to say anything.

OP, i would choose 12 to be closer to the lounge area. it is just a couple of minutes walk to the pool area. we rarely used the elevator since it took a while sometimes.

have fun! it was amazing, I really want to go back soon for a 7 day. I don't think my husband and i need a 1br again but the in room dining was great! And our veranda was HUGE !

I have zero issues with kids and their parents passing thru... Now when they pull up a chair... ? LOL Some of the worst behavior I saw on my cruise this year was from the adults. Unfortunate.

Thank you for the correction 🙂 ! I am not very familiar with Deck 11, so I assumed from reading other posts that there was only one way to reach the section.

No problem :)
I don’t understand—the adult area on deck 11 spans all the way from port to starboard—you can’t go around it. You can go down a floor or up a floor and cross over if that is what you mean but on deck 11 there is no bypass around the adult pool from the concierge rooms

Correct, you have to go up or down to go around. I know it is inconvenient, but just wanted to note that on my last cruise cast members were at the door asking families to turn around and that the area was for 18+

Oof, for what they pay for a family in those concierge rooms I am sure there were some major complaints. That is a real inconvenience, especially if you have a stroller such that stairs are not an option. Why on earth they designed the layout that way is beyond me.

Do you mind if ask you to elaborate on your noise comment? We’re first time cruisers and have deck 12 booked, so your comment caught my attention. Appreciate any feedback.

(Sorry for going OT to your question OP)

We had the bad luck of hearing deck chairs being dragged around above our heads late into the night and the wee hours of the morning. We had the same issues when traveling concierge on the Magic (I really wish they had concierge rooms on lower decks on the Wonder and Magic!) Which cabin are you in? If you are below the concierge sundeck, you might have more luck than we did.

On our last Fantasy cruise, I booked fairly last minute and we ended up in 11000 which is actually a handicapped stateroom all the way at the end of the hall on deck 11. It was so late in the game and no one who needed a handicapped room had booked it, so they put us in it. Oh my gosh. I was in heaven. Sandwiched between two staterooms and zero foot traffic in the area. One flight of stairs and we were in the concierge lounge. If available, I would book that room again in a heartbeat!

Which room were you in that you heard chairs? I'm a really light sleeper and never heard anything when we were in rooms closer to the front of the ship.

just curious when was your cruise? we were on the ship 2x in the past 10 months, and 3 other times, never seen anyone standing there directing kids,
always see kids walking by

It sounds to me like there must have been a problem on that cruise with kids and the adult area. I have never seen them stopping people from simply walking through. But if there was a problem with it (like not just passing through but being unruly, jumping in the pool, hanging out, etc.) they would take that course of action for that cruise.

(Probably a case of one family or group being repeat offenders so they decided it was simpler to just stop everyone rather than have that family/group constantly being a pain.)

We were on a Halloween on The High Seas Cruise fall of 2018 on the Dream and on a February 2019 cruise on the Dream. The Halloween cruise had someone there the entire time the pool deck was open, the February cruise had a person there periodically.
