Dream 9/14/15 4 night

Hello! This will be our first cruise ever as well! We will first spend 4 days at WDW staying at the Port Orleans Riverside. We are soooo excited!
We'll be at WDW and on the cruise together! I'm not sure which resort we're staying at yet but we're looking at the Wilderness Lodge....never stayed there before. We love the POR! So....will children be joining you?

Yay!!!! We finally booked our first Disney Cruise today!! We are so excited and can't wait to participate in the FE. If I knew what I was doing I would organize it, but I really have no clue.

I have no idea either but I'll be watching the boards :)

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin. Other information you would like to share such as first names, ages of child participants, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM.

For those posting in this Cruise Meet thread to join a FE, since no one seems to be coming forward to organize a FE for this cruise here on the DIS, please feel free to start the FE right in this thread.

There is certainly plenty of time to plan a FE for this cruise. All it takes is for someone to maintain a list of/for those participating which can easily be done in this thread. Cruise Meet threads have been doing it this way for years now here on the DIS. If anyone is interested in doing this, feel free to contact me for some suggestions.

Enjoy! :)

PLEASE review the Cruise Meet Policy regarding Cruise Meet and Fish Extender programs. - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3353477

Links to Cruise Meet discussion/Fish Extenders other than those on the DIS may not be posted or offered by any other means (PM, email, "search" directions, etc.).

Tentatively booked on this, as my first DCL cruise. We'll see if I chicken out before the deposit is due on Monday. :)

(30-something couple with no kids, no totally sure a Disney cruise is for us yet, but I'm really intrigued. Any other adult/couple lurkers out there, feel free to speak up. I'm wondering if there may be more of us on this one due to school starting?)

Hmm, the significant other told me to go ahead and put the deposit on this cruise. I'm scared. I'm going to spend the weekend pondering and making this is the date and the stateroom I want (it's a deck 8 4E, I think), but it's looking like a better chance we will be on this cruise.

Still very excited! 7 months from today we will be at wdw and shortly after that our first cruise! I think I'm more excited than the kids right now though I'm sure that will change the closer we get. :jumping2: Can't stop the excitement!

Hey there group...

Just switched our 7 Day in October to a 4 Day in September... We are super excited to be cruising again.. This is our 5th Cruise with Disney and our 3rd time on the Dream..

I was in another section and saw your posts...so nice...so pc. I like the way you think.

Anyway, in response to this post schools are pretty strict with their attendance. Our 4 children are homeschooled and my guess is that there won't be many children on the boat since it's 2 weeks after school begins. My children are 10+ and they will surely desert the parents who feed them, clothe them, and pay for really awesome vacations the moment they set foot onboard. Aside from dinner, I don't think we'll see them again. Long story short, I'm guessing there will be alot of childless couples (though some of us will technically have kids) on the boat.

I love my children dearly but this is my vaca too and I plan on playing! On a seperate note, I hope this thread pics up. I'd really love to get to know the people we cruise with. :sail:

Haha, nice and pc? I have no idea how I'm coming across here, I've been online for a long time and I'm um... Pretty sarcastic? IRL, but I also like to answer people's questions (when I have the info) and I try to respect the Disney niceness bubble here, and not be too obnoxious. :) I don't know how well I succeed.

I grew up in FL and spent a lot of time at WDW in my 20s. I'm a fair amount older now with a newish boyfriend who has never been to Disney at all (we will be at AKL in two weeks, weather permitting). He said to go ahead and book the cruise too, which surprised me. I only ended up with the 9/14 sailing more or less at random (we wanted a gap between the trips). It wasn't until I saw the meetup thread here and on CC that I realized this sailing seems a bit quiet. It was also (I realize now) cheaper than some other similar sailings. We are both fairly introverted types w/IT jobs, so quiet is good, but we're also looking forward to having to disconnect from the Internet and RELAX for a few days. :)

Let me begin by saying that I don't know much about the new boyfriend but if he's willing to do Disney...he's good people.

I've been accused of being sarcastic manys-a-time in my life. I prefer "witty." it changes the negative tone to a possitive one and I still get to be as twisted as I like.

We love the AKL!!! Love it! We'll be at the WL for a week prior to the cruise. We've never stayed there but I hope we love it as much.

One of the reasons we chose this particular cruise was for the price. Yes, I want my kids to meet other children and scamper and cavorte but...yeah, I wasn't willing to fork over the $$$$. We've never been on a cruise and I'm really hoping that the kids (this is a given though) will have a good time ALONG with the adults.

To sum up- WDW - been there / done that / bought many tee shirts
Disney Cruise - totally nervous about but am so very excited for a new Disney experience. I can't wait to eat at Palo or Remy and visit the spa....:cloud9:

Witty, yeah, I'll try that on. :)

I saw your posts earlier in the thread but I missed that this was your first cruise too. I've been reading my Unofficial and Passporter guides obsessively. This is the first time I've planned a trip this far out, and I don't know how people stand to wait this long. I was shopping online for bathing suits last nignt. It is WAY too early to be shopping for this!

I'm a foodie but I'm not sure about Remy--it sounds like a Looooong experience and we get a bit antsy with long dining. I am definitely going to try to snag Palo (both a dinner and a brunch). And I notice they've got Guardians of the Galaxy in the ship theaters now; we like the Marvel movies so I'm wondering/hoping one of the upcoming summer ones may be playing onboard by Sept. (Seems silly I guess, but something about randomly going to see a movie on a cruise ship appeals to me.)

I've stayed at WL a few times but it was literally back in the 1990s. I remember the pool and Artist Point. :)

Yeah, give witty a spin. Let me know if it works for you.

I've also been reading my Unofficial guide obsessively. I sooooo-ho-ho do not understand cruise cabin catagory language so I finally found a TA that was so kind she did it for me. We're in stateroom 9544 and 9546. I like to think that I'm a relatively smart individual. I'm certainly capable of reading a book and comprehending stanzas more complex than "Hop On Pop" and "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" but when it comes to cruise lingo....I gots notin'.

I've also been shopping and yes, it's WAY too early. I have my wardrobe all planned out (planned not purchased). It's very cruise casual...very, I don't really care what you think of me but dayam I look good. I'm actually contemplating buying and bringing our own snorkle equiptment so I don't have to rent it on CC. Yes...that's the special kind of nuts I am. I can't swimsuit shop just yet as I plan on losing a few before we go but I know what the suit looks like that I hope to be able to squeeze myself into.

Good to know what your opinion is on the Palo thing. I agree with you there.

Movies! Movies! Movies! I was so happy when I read another post that said what movies are currently playing. Is it sad that I really wish they would play some of the oldies but goodies? Aladin / The Lion King / Little Mermaid /Etc....I would so break out into song.

What's your opinion on some of the adult lounges / clubs onboard?

Clothes: I never get to dress up so I'm looking forward to the cocktail dress and heels thing. One night at least. I have no idea what I'm doing otherwise. Maxi dresses, probably, if I'm not in a bathing suit?

Clubs: I like the idea of themed clubs. I was always amused by Pleasure Island back in the day. But I am a terrible drinker, I think I have an alcohol allergy (my face flushes and I get hot/cold chills within an hour or two). The BF and I do really love live music, though, so something like a good Jazz band might pull us out. And I want to see the clubs either way, even if I just drink half a beer. Actually, I think I just had an epiphany--I don't have kids and I'm not specifically a Disney nut, but I think it's the theming that always gets me, the little stories Disney always puts into things, like the way the "Pink" club is supposed to be the inside of a champagne bottle.

Believe it or not we will probably spend a lot of time in Cove Cafe--the adult coffee joint outside the adult pool area. we are totally cafe people/caffeine addicts. I'm also hoping to do some pool and hot tub time, but he's not as much of a water nut as I am.

Oh, I also want to score a rainforest day pass, have you read about that?

I think I have a handle on the staterooms, sort of. We'll be on deck 7 "midship" but I keep changing my mind on room numbers (They let you pick and change your room number, so I keep hopping around and reading individual room reviews--bad idea.)

I plan to live in the rainforest! I have heard nothing but amazing things about it. The funny thing is that I can't find too many descriptions of it but everything I've read is positive so I must try it out. The husband and I are not heavy drinkers. Actually that isn't true. He can drink for hours and not get the least bit buzzed and I am a lightweight like no other. Together, we are useless when we drink so we usually don't. It's a waste of money for us.

I heard that midship is good, especially if you get seasick and its in the center of everything so you have less of a walk when you go places. Do you know if you are on the port or starboard side? My ta said that the port side gives you a beautiful view of castaway cay. Maybe it was starboard. I don't know. It's whatever side of the ship our rooms are on. I have a brain, I swear! Being able to use it is a different matter.

I paid for everything today....whew ! I bought our plane tix as well. My bank account looked really nice for about 10 min this morning. I'm poor again. Are you planning on visiting the spa while you're there? Btw...so happy that you're going to dress up for one night of the cruise! I won't be the only one. I dress up one time a year...work Christmas parties...if I decide to go. It'll be fun to be a princess for a night.

Are you buying travel insurance?

:jumping1:
I have decided - though I have NO idea what I'm doing - that I'll go ahead and start the FE program. If you're interested, let me know how many people will be in your group with names and ages and any allergies or special things that anyone in your family likes. I'll get the list together and about 2 months before the cruise, I send everything out officially.
I've never done anything like this before but I'm totally psyched to try it out. :jumping2:
Thanks,
Teresa

Hey there Teresa..

You rock for starting this...

We are in for being in the FE - Traveling in our party is:

Me - Adult
Hubby - Adult
Daughter (Scarlett) - 4 years old
Room: 7650

** Have so many FE ideas in my head, just waiting to see if they announce this will be Halloween Cruise like last year, to start my official FE planning..

I'm so excited that you are going to participate! I've been getting some good advice from people who have done this before on best practices. How much fun that you have a 4 yr old girl? She is going to be floating on a magical princess cloud for days!

I really look forward to getting to know people before we go on the cruise because I truly believe that the more people you know, the better the vacation :sunny: Will you be visiting WDW before your trip?

Thanks for participating!
Teresa
