Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil and Nate Berkus

I am usually not home at 3pm during the week but today I am and saw that all three of these "Oprah" spin-off shows are on at the same time on my NY/NJ television stations. Isn't that a conflict of interest? Why would they put them all up against each other?

The production studios don't decide the time a program runs, the stations or the networks do. These shows are all syndicated and bought by the station to run wherever they believe they can get the best audience.

In previous years, Harpo Studio had made sure that Dr. Phil & Dr. Oz would never run directly across from her show in the same region. I guess she lost that negotiating power to do that. Or, maybe that they could run against each other, but not Oprah's show? There is only so much daytime TV scheduling hours for individual networks to work with.

I think it is up to the networks. Nate is on 2pm here, Oz at 9am

Dr. Phil, no clue. He's kind of gone the way of Maurey and Springer , I just can't stand that show anymore. "Who's my baby's daddy?" or "My teen is out of control." or mostly negative stuff. He used to only have some mixed in with more uplifting shows like Oprah, but not anymore.

I am loving Nate's new show though!

I work at a station that carries Nate. There is no restriction on when Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil and Nate can run EXCEPT they can not run opposite Oprah. They can run opposite each other. All three (along with Ellen) are seen are potential front runners to be the top late afternoon show when Oprah goes away at the end of this season
Oprah, by way of her Harpo Productions has most of the bases covered by owning three of the four shows vying to be the next Oprah.
