Dr. Jones and the Spitting Camel - Link to Alaska Cruise TR 9/18

Wow! Did it feel like you were always rushing to beat the clock? I can hear that clock in that back of my mind going, "tick tock....tick tock......" I hope you made it to dinner on time. Wait - I'm sure you made it to dinner on time because wasn't it one of the best meals of your trip? lol

The clock popped in every now and then. The good thing about a water park is you really can't carry your phone, look at the clock. I'm not a watch person. So that helped quite a bit! Once we got wet it was much better. Even though I'd slated getting there by 10 in the plan, I didn't really expect to be there until 11. And I did think we'd have eaten already so those 2 things threw me a little but I was trying to roll with it.

Anyway - it sounds like you had a really fun water park day. I love that Crush n Gusher. Do you think anyone would be up for the water park in May????? Probably not, but I still have 5 water park passes on a non-expiring ticket I bought about 5 years ago. Too bad I can't share them with everyone.

When Nick and I did CnG the last time I remember him choosing me over his friend for a partner because, "your weight makes the raft go faster mom". Ummmmmm.....great!

:rotfl: Nick! So mean. I'm not opposed to the idea.....

Love the few pics you got and I love those slushies from TT. The last time I was there was with my GF and her son and Nick. Both boys were 12 going on 13 and my GF would not let her son have a slushie because it would ruin his dinner? (It was 2:30pm) :confused3 I remember feeling so bad for the kid that I gave him some of mine. My GF had let 6 or 8 snacks left over at the end of the week. No wonder! Sheesh!

It's vacation! I mean if we are headed straight to dinner I could see it but....otherwise, c'mon! They hit the spot for sure. I was proud of myself actually. I think a powerade or a soda s a total waste of snack credit but I didn't keep kids from getting them if that's what they wanted. I mean to me it's a no brainer, smoothie versus powerade? But...it's vacation.

Sounds like a fun time at TL! :goodvibes We loved Castaway Creek too! Definitely a favorite for us as well!:thumbsup2 I know what you mean about Crush and Gusher.....it took us forever to find it. It wouldn't hurt them to put up a few more signs.:rolleyes1

Seriously! Although with more signs, it'd be more crowded!

Glad you had fun at TL and spent more time there than I did!

And I don't know how we missed being FB friends, but pm me for my name if you want.

We did have a good time. Were it not for the dinner deadline I think we'd have lasted about another hour tops so we were close to "done" anyway. I will PM you...or vice versa!

Sounds like a fun day once things got going. it is hard to balance letting them sleep and getting to where you want to be. The lazy river sounds very fuun!!

The lazy river was fab! And honestly, so was my morning on that balcony!

Typhoon Lagoon sounded like a lot of fun, luckily you guys had nice weather and were still able to get everything despite a late start.

Those frozen drinks sound heavely.

We did! It was a good day. The weather looked scary a couple of times but thankfully didn't shut us down. That would have been a huge bummer. those drinks hit the spot.

Ya know, I have yet to really explore a water park. I think I was at Typhoon Lagoon as a kid but I don't really remember. All in all it sounds like fun. Especially on such a hot day!

Well maybe we need to go in May as Mary Ellen suggested :goodvibes

It was a ton of fun.

Great idea to use both coffee brewers. Does one of you drink regular and one decaf?

Nope, they are just too tiny to share :rotfl:
Oh no -- another hotel safe issue?! :faint:
I know! I was like...Are you KIDDING me? I think that almost sent me over the edge and is what made me feel late for sure.

Your day at TL sounds so similar to ours....not getting a locker, then thinking better of it. I wish we could trust people! Our chairs were over near Typhoon Tilly's so I was able to get a locker over there (I paid for it at the front, but I think you can pay at Typhoon Tilly's also). There are only a few lockers over there so the number system was not difficult at all.
I'll need to remember that, sounds like a much better locker location. I was just being an idiot though, I mean seriously, I must have walked by my number over and over and because they went down instead of up, I couldn't find it. Guess my dyslexia was in overdrive or something!

I was glad I had researched Crush 'n Gusher a little bit before the trip. I would have never found it! And yes, the theming was top-notch. I loved checking out everything there while waiting in line.

I didn't know about those frozen cappuccino smoothies. They sound awesome!

It definitely makes the wait not so bad. And our wait wasn't that bad....Jeff's was ridiculous. We really should have just gone again. Hit the snack shack next time, they were great!

Just checking in to say hi! I lost internet access for about five days when our router decided to go kaput, so I'll be lurking here until I catch up. :goodvibes

Hi! UGH on the router....I have no such excuse for being so behind.

Well, once you got things going with waking up sleepyheads, etc., it sounds like you had a great time. We don't do water parks anymore (if they added elevators to get to the top to get on the ride we would :rotfl:), some of those things look really great.

The slushie sounds really good.

LOL on the elevators, that would be nice, huh! I'm surprised though with a new slide like crush and gusher that they don't add the conveyor belts.

TL sounds interesting !!!I noticed you stressed bringing your towels ??? Can you rent towels or bring ones from the hotel?????

I didn't want to pay to rent towels so wanted to make sure we didn't forget them. We just borrowed some from the hotel , though I felt a little wierd about it. It was so hot though we could have brought half as many as we dried quickly.

TL is a lot of fun. It made me think of Jordan.

I hope you got your safe issue figured out without having to resort to the 3 hour wait and the $30 locksmith. I'm guessing the key turns up somewhere unexpected before you get that far. After all, if you'd put stuff in it already then you had it - and with the amount of sleep you had at that point - shoot - it could turn up in the coffee pot and I wouldn't be surprised! ;)

:rotfl: I didn't think to look in the coffee pot!

Sleeping in and having quiet balcony time sounds like heaven!:cloud9: I'm sorry you had key issues - hope it works out! Your day at TL looks like it turned out great! The float around is always my fav. I have to admit, I love BB way better than TL. I think the slides are shorter and smaller, and I didn't care for the family raft ride at all in comparison. I also think their themeing is so inventive! I know everyone has their own fav, just sayin' :rolleyes1

One of these days I'll make it to BB, for some reason the idea of all that "white" doesn't do it for me but I've heard good things about it.

It was a great day.
Cynthia, I love your writing. You really have a way of helping us "feel" the details with you! :thumbsup2

Aww, Tammie, thanks!

Hey There,

Just read it all, but no time for input right now. I'll stop by tomorrow to re-read and say howdy again. :goodvibes

And spill on the west coast meet drama :thumbsup2

Great update on your morning and TL! Brilliant idea to set up your own coffee station right there in the room!

That coffee station was the bomb! I didn't realize just how great it was...until we didn't have it.

Getting to/from TL is such a pain. Sounds like you made the best of the time you had there and thank goodness the park was not closed to thunderstorms. That would have been a major bummer.

OMG it felt like it took FOREVER! Longer than it took to get to AK, which had seemed like forever the night before. And it's funny as in general I don't feel that way about the Disney buses but the 2 back to back long bus rides were a drag.

 on the lost photopass pictures. My family had pictures taken at RockNRollercoaster, and I'm almost positive they made it on the card because I reviewed the pictures while still at the BC, but when I contacted PP support, they couldn't recover them! Even though I could tell them exactly where and when they were taken, and provided pictures of us from that day.:headache:

CrushNGusher is so fun, but I agree that the wait is long and the ride is too short.

I'm glad your family was able to chill out and relax in the lazy river. Sounds perfect!

The lazy river rocks! I'm bummed about the pics though.

You do have to remember that 10 EST is still 7am to the kids. And that 10 hours of sleep is pretty normal for them, especially teens on vacation! So it wasn't really all that out of wack. Jeff and I got 8 which was perfect, but to me, didn't really feel like sleeping in.
im sure we will feel that when we take our trip to hawaii next year. dont know if it will be so bad on the way out...but on the way home i built in a few extra days off work, so we can just hang out when we get back.

yeah 7-8 is about what we get seems since we got older we just cant sleep anylonger.

Sounds like a fun day at TL!

I totally understand getting a little antsy waiting for everyone to get up! I would have too!

I hope everything worked out getting back to WL and heading to DTD! I can't wait to hear about RR! We're eating there in Dec!

Looks like your trip to TL was a success! It looked like a lot of fun!

Yikes on the safe issue, I'm sure the key will turn up.

Another great update! :thumbsup2

Oh I bet it will be so pretty in there in Dec! Is there anywhere you haven't eaten????? Or won't between now and May?

It was a lot of fun and relaxing too, once we got wet!

Me and safes....not a good combo!

i am, its hard for me to make it to new years ball drop anymore, and we are even in the central time zone while watching it so its only 11:00 here.
:lmao:

Ah....ball drop is overrated if you ask me.

:rotfl:

I can't believe you had problems with your safe again. When you started describing the key that they gave you, my stomach twisted. Why would they do that sort of key & not have a backup? I'm sure that people lose those keys every day. Especially people on vacation and who have possibly been drinking! I hope that it turns out ok.

We have never been to a water park at WDW. It was fun to read your description of it, and I think when Dylan is older it is something that we will look into. It would be hard to take turns with him while the other person tries to do the slides.

When I SAW the key my stomach twisted.

And I was SO careful with it for that reason. Or so I thought. But...it had nothing to do with drinking. I had one beer at dinner lol!

There is actually quite a bit for the little ones although I've heard BB may be better for Dylan's age. Stuff you can do as a family (large splash and sand areas by the surf pool and out in front of Crush and Gusher, the entire kiddie area which the E's loved at 4&5, the family slide (raft ride) and the lazy river. Parker (Dan, aka Fauntleroyfan's son) is younger than Dylan now and they did both parks, if you want to check out his TR (you may be on it, not sure) it's got a great snapshot of stuff for the todder set.

I'm finally caught up. School has been nuts.
TL looks like so much fun!
I can't wait to get to the YC updates :rolleyes1

LOL! It's still a bit away, like I don't know 5 updates maybe? Maybe more? Maybe less? I should arrive there before you leave....we will see. Feel free to pm me or email if you have any questions about it though!

 the YC

You'll get a PM in the next few days ;)

I'm really excited about the YC. I always stay in the MK area and am really looking forward to being in the Epcot area. Just trying to decide if I want to go to MVMCP. Not sure if it would be a complete waste of money.

What a lovely start to your day having coffee and reading on the balcony! I would have been seriously antsy to get going after awhile, too, though.

Sounds like you had a good bit of fun at Typhoon Lagoon! I just love the theming there, but I can only imagine just how hot, hot, hot it was there.

Oh I think you will LOVE it, especially being there solo.

MVMCP...that's a tough one. I'd love to do it but not sure if I would do it solo, I wouldn't need to be with kids but I'm not sure about totally solo. I'd probably be on the fence too. But....I'd want to see it so....:confused3

It was heavenly, actually one of my favorite mornings in that respect, just AAHHHH, lovely!

They got moving ok, I think the combo of the safe and the LONG trip there is what got me ansty, I was fine before that.

Sounds like you had a good bit of fun at Typhoon Lagoon! I just love the theming there, but I can only imagine just how hot, hot, hot it was there.

Once we got wet it was fine for the rest of the day but I did feel like I was melting at lunch...which can take away the appeal of a hot sandwich and fries to be sure!

THinking back, I"m wondering if perhaps my single most "vacation" moment was on my Poly porch. The sun, the waterview, the coffee, the TR journal, the quiet- a perfect package to be sure!

NOOOOOOOOOOo not another safe issue!!!!

Just stopping by to say ta-ta for now! Leaving for our cruise on Friday - playing planes, trains and automobiles to get to Port of Miami :rotfl2: Don't get too far ahead of me! :wave2:

Isn't it funny? At the time you are loving it but don't always recognize the perfection of that precise moment. It really was perfect. And SO "vacation"

NOOOOOOOOOOo not another safe issue!!!!

Seriously, can you believe it?

Mary Ellen, if we have a safe, YOU are in charge. :rotfl:
