Aww, sad that it's over but so happy that you got him converted!!!
My dh wasn't excited AT ALL about Disney. He was happy that our kids were going to get to go but he didn't want to hear anything about - said he'd prefer to be surprised (yeah, right) and said he would get excited when his booty hit the airplane seat.
For us, going to Vero Beach was the ticket. He and I both Love, Love, Loved it. It was the "relaxing" portion of the trip because after that it was strictly commando and he did great and is the reason we are going back in January
I've thought about taking a couple of days and just going to the beach, I may have to look into that. Rest and relaxation and toes in the sand does sound appealing. It's hard with the kiddo though, at 8 she doesn't yet appreciate the whole "chilling on the beach with a drink" thing.
I'm glad you have a Disney Believer in the family! It's so nice to hear "I want to go back" from someone else, LOL.
Hi there fellow sister married to Mr.Hyde!
We are going on our first ever trip to wdw in December

I am so glad your did the TR we fellow sisters need all the help we can get, when you said " are you just wandering aimlessly" I just flipped out a fellow sister.

Some DH's are nasty, or jerks....or well you know __wipes all the time and the spouse can control situations but with a Hyde ....always lurking and ready to pounce, or happy and loving.. talk about emotional rollercoaster.

I have started throwing the bipolar statement out there when I have had enough Jekyll/Hyde and ol Hyde will retreat.

I can't believe I'm a newbie taking a J/H to WDW.......I have lost my mind
Hello to you, my sister in pain! LOL My husband has always been a Hyde lurking and ready to pounce, so I know exactly what you mean. An emotional roller coaster is a great way to put it. It's a good thing that I have a deep well of patience. There is no way we would have made it 9.75 years of marriage without it, LOL.
You'll be fine, just keep it realistic. The other thing that may help that I forgot to mention is to take a cab instead of waiting for the bus if he's already huffy. If he hates waiting for anything like mine does, the quick point A to point B when you want it beats waiting for the bus in a hot line hands down.
So happy for you that your husband ended up truly enjoying Disney. Maybe it was good that it wasn't too long of a trip. That way, he learned stuff about Disney & you learned things about him & Disney. Sounds like y'all had a truly magical vacation ending!
And

for your next trip! I think that's great that y'all are going for your daughter's bday. I would love to do that for my son one year. Hopefully, the next trip will be even more magical for all 3 of y'all & not include "the fight".
I agree, I think the short trip at first was the best idea. I don't think he would have made it a week, especially not in that heat. He's indoctrinated now, he knows how things work and next trip I hope to not see Hyde at all. But, you never know, he does tend to peek out an unexpected times...
And I vow not to have "the fight" next time. I'll be sure and start a massive fight at home a couple days before we leave just so we can get it out of our systems before we hit Orlando.
Yeah, we went to the first party on Sept 13th, and it was way crowded. We spent about 45 minutes to get pictures with the 7 dwarfs. Most rides were walk-ons because the lines were insane.
We ended up with extra meal/snack credits on our first DP trip too. I was confused until I got home and figured it out. I forgot that we got 1 qs/ts/snack credit each day per person
per night. So while me may only spend 6 days in the parks, we still had 8 credits of each type per person. The good thing about that is that on the day we leave we had a ton of fudge and cookies for the drive home!
I skipped the Dwarves line, I lost too much time as it was and we didn't even meet any characters. I just feel like we got nothing accomplished. If I ever went again I think we would go ahead and show up at 4 and get rides out of the way, and just spend the rest of the night on the Villians, Dance Party and Trick or Treating. The time just slips by so quickly, 5 hours isn't enough time to see everything, not when you have to park for 45 minutes to an hour just to get a seat for the parade.
Having 2 meal credits left over actually turned out great and I actually may plan it that way from now on. Southwest doesn't have meals for purchase, just free snacks, so you are stuck for actual food unless you pack some in your carry on. Having sandwiches, chips and cookies was SO NICE for the flight home and we avoided spending boo coo bucks at the airport on food.
You will know for sure that he has made the complete conversion when he says, "You know, we should look into DVC if we're going to come back to WDW every year!"
When I first saw him with the DVC guy, my heart skipped a beat. I would love the DVC thing, but there is just no way we can afford it, not when we both have car payments still. Still, I got a little excited for a millisecond, LOL.
Casey - That was the best ending to a TR ever! Great idea to try and return for your DD Birthday.
Thanks Sheila!!! We went in May this year and celebrated Kassidy's birthday a couple of weeks early while we were there with my Mom and Brother. She loved wearing the birthday pin and having all the characters fawn all over her, it really made her trip. 2012 will be the last year that Kass is a Disney "kid", she'll be turning 9. Gotta milk the savings while we can, LOL.
