OK, we've never done Dr. Doom's before, but on this trip, if the weather is good maybe we'll give it a try. I'm wondering how intense this one is?

I know it's outdoors, and the main part of the ride is the thrust *up*, so it's not really comparable to the Tower of Terror.

If we can handle the intensity of the Hulk, should we figure we're OK on this one?

thanks.

It's definitely a different type of thrill than The Hulk.. You won't really know if you like shooting up until you try it. I've only done it here and on the Maliboomer at California Adventure. I like it but I can only do it once before I get dizzy. :)

We love this ride! It shoots you up, then pulls you down, then each time thereafter it gets less intense. But that 1st one up is fierce! I like the view up there!

Is this ride OK for my DD 9?She is just 52",but I'm afraid that she might slip out because she's so small.:scared1: Am I'm being too paronoid?:confused3

I totally know what you mean. We took my Dd(7) on it and she was perfectly fine. Of course I triple checked her safety bar, and made it as tight as possible! LOL!

I know it might sound funny but I had a nephew that was just a little under 52" and when the ride started up he almost came out of the ride his mom had to grab the collar of his shirt and pull him up or he would have fell out.
So just be careful and make sure she fits in the seat good and the harness is not too loose on her.

I love this ride, but the worst part (for the first timer) is the 'waiting to launch' :scared:

:rotfl:

....and yes, we are a Hulk & DD-lovin' family!!

DD 10 wanted to do it last Summer, so i was volunteered  to go on it with her, was a bit like yourself ,making sure she was well strapped in just in case, i avoided going on again making up numerous excuses.
The initial thrust up is intense but my DD loved it, they lift the ride up a few feet and the anticipation of waiting on it to go was probably worse than the ride itself.
I would not compare it to the Hulk i do not have a problem riding the Hulk or DD ,but i am sure others would prefer it the other way.
I say give them all a go ,then you can decide if you want to get on again

And when the Doom attendant came by and checked the harness, did you yell at him/her to "check it again!!!!" ? Because they are trained at the attraction, and can tell if the harness is locked and seatbelt is ok.

At least you're not like one of the moms who reach over and pull their kids seatbelt off during the launch sequence, then when the Team Member has to stop the ride and explain to the lady what they did, she yells at him/her saying he didn't check it properly.

hey parents, don't take your kids seatbelt off. also, don't yell at us.

I hated Dr Doom cause I hate heights. But on the other hand, I like most roller coasters and I like Tower of Terror. I guess I just didn't like not being enclosed and so high up.

Are you serious? She pulled the seatbelt off during launch? No, I guess I'm not that bad! :lmao:

Not during the launch, but prior to the launch.

I have seen this happen. This causes the control booth operator to shut down the ride due to the unsafe condition caused by the guest. This also causes an increase in wait time, as the tower has to be reset by technicians and then rechecked by the ride staff.

Not fun.

As for the ride itself 52" is the height requirement. It's a fun, short ride, and gives a great aerial view. It's much better than the Maliboomer at DCA.

DS 11 loves this ride and when we were there in June none of us would ride it with him and I thought he was going to have a fit in the middle of the crowd until we said we would go on it later but never did and needless to say he has not forgotten.:lmao:

The ride itself is over in like 5 seconds, but I love those 5 seconds. My favorite part is coming out of your seat at the top and the view you get.Almost every time I ride it other people are like "that's it",it's short quick thrill ride.I've been on many other towers in other parks like Acrophobia in Six Flags in Atlanta which is different as it takes you slowly to the top and holds you there for a bit then drops you, these scare me a lot more than the ones that shoot you up as I find dangling in the air 200 ft up scarier than a quick launch to the top.Tower of Terror is different as it's indoors and has multiple drops and ghostly halls and is probably one of my favorite all time rides but Dr.Doom is very fun!!

To me, the best part about Doom is the themeing. If you're waiting in the regular line, you can't see the ride at all until you're actually getting onto the ride. And while waiting your turn to get on, you're placed in front of numbered doors, where you can hear the ride very well, but not see it. It just adds to the ambiance of a crazy mad scientists lab.

Im not a fan of fear falls (ala Six Flags), but I gave Dr Dooms a try and it was a blast!
