Phil posted his review of the XSi and very surprisingly he had some significant complaints. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/CanonEOS450D/ It is not like him to give Canon any bad marks, but he had problems with AF, JPG output, handling, and price point. Something that surprised me is that he indicated that metering is always linked to the AF point. Is that true? It seems strange to me b/c my K100D does not require that, but then again it also had spot metering where the Rebel line did not have it until now. Is there at least an AE lock on the Rebels?

the reviews i have read have all given it very high marks( i get emails from tons of photo places but every review i have read for it has been excellent) so i'd view his as the same result.
but my l lens and "cheap rebel body" are both fine, not a scratch on either of them, not even the lens (that i had just taken the hood off so i could attach my nd filter)
