Hi,

Any experiences with restaurants allowing someone on the DDP to get an app instead of a dessert? My husband is diabetic and lots of the highly sugary desserts do not appeal to him.

no you cannot substitute apps for desserts. There are no sugar added desserts available and some restaurants let you sub a bottle of water

One of the hard and fast rules of the dining plan is you cannot substitute an appetizer for the dessert entitlement. At Table Service restaurants there are sugar free or low sugar desserts or fruit or you can ask for his dessert to go for someone else in your family to eat later or for breakfast the next day. At Quick Service venues you can usually sub a bottle of water or a side from the children's menu such as veggie sticks or fruit slices.

I have had the no added sugar sorbets at a few of the TS restaurant and they are actually pretty good, if that is an option for your DH.
