We're not doing Park Hopper this year. Can we visit Downtown Disney in addition to our chosen park on any given day or does it count as a park in and of itself?
YEP- not a park- but lots of fun!! You'll have no problem finding stuff to do (and buy) there. You do not need park admission to enjoy Downtown Disney Marketplace and restaurants. We love it there!
You can visit Downtown Dis any time, free of charge (though be prepared to shell out the $$ for all the cool Dis merchandise and Legos in the huge stores!!! I believe the only areas that require an entrance fee are pleasure island (after dark) and Dis Quest. La Nouba (Cirque du Soleil) is also there, but you need advance tix for that (well worth it). There are many restaurants, shops, huge Virgin record store, movie complex and plenty of Dis stores.
Downtown Disney doesn't cost anything.. unless you count the money you spend shopping
Pleasure Island and Disney Quest which are located in downtown disney cost a "water park fun and more" day, if you add that option unto your tickets. A base ticket without that option won't get you admission to either.
You can walk through the all of the outdoor areas of Downtown Disney including Pleasure Island without paying admission.
Admission is needed to enter the Disney Quest building (except its gift shop) near Cirque du Soleil at the west end of DD, or to enter the club buildings at Pleasure Island. Theme park admission is not honored or consumed; you need water park fun admission or separate tickets. One water park fun visit is good for any or all of the PI clubs on one evening. Another water park fun visit or another separate ticket (about $37.) is needed for Disney Quest. Most times of year you can pay an additional five dollars to use a single PI all-clubs admission ($22. initially) for five more consecutive nights. A ticket to just one music/dance club at PI can be had for about $13.
You do not need hopping to use water park fun and visit one theme park on the same day using the same ticket card.
Don't forget to go to the goofy candy shop to design your own rise krisly treat and stock up on some disney themed treats for the trip home. The "clearance" or sale shop is nearby and has some good discounts on slightly older disney merchandise - like mugs etc. Have fun
Despite the name, try not to think of DTD as a park. Its really just a collection of stores and restaurants. Fine if that's what you want - but don't think of it as another thing to see/do at WDW.
Yea. Not a park but good cheap fun, provided you can resist the temptations contained within the worlds largest Disney Store, I never can. If you need a bite to eat while there, the themeing inside Rainforrst cafe is great as is the food. It feels like a park. Volcanos are fun.
