I heard a podcast the other day and they were talking about the Downtown Disney resorts. They said that those resorts have all of the same perks as the other resorts. You can use the ME, Disney buses, EMH, etc. Is that correct? I don't hear much about people staying at them so I was surprised to hear this.

No that is not correct. No ME no Disney buses and the only one that allows EMH is the Hilton. They do have their own buses. They park a bit farther away from the gates but they are far more comfy than the Disney buses. Mears can get you round trip from MCO for about $30.

My understanding from friends who stayed at one of DD resorts, is that they offer their own transportation to the TTC where you can use Disney transportation. So not quite as direct or quick. Don't know from personal experience though.

Another perk you can't get at the DTD area hotels would be the dining plan.

Is it possible they were talking about OKW and SSR? These two could be considered "DTD resorts" due to their proximity to DTD, and would have disney buses, DME, EMH, and dining plan.

No. They were definitely talking about the resorts at Downtown Disney. I was shocked. I had never heard that before. They said they get passed up a lot and people shouldn't forget that they are there and that they have all of the same perks and amenities as the other on site resorts.

I only listen to Dis, BOG, and Lou. I listen to a mix of old and new. I will try to go back and find which episode it was. Thanks for the replies.

Unless they meant the DTD Disney hotels - SSR, OKW, POR, POFQ.

I think this is what they must have been referring to. On the road signs these resorts are usually lumped together as the DTD area Disney resorts. Not to be confused with the non-Disney DTD hotels. The way it is worded is confusing.
