In your opinion which of the seven DTD resorts is the nicest and which is the closest to DTD Buses.

Holiday Inn
Hotel Royal Plaza
Buena Vista Palace
Best Western
Doubletree Suites
Grosvenor Resort
Hilton Resort

The Hilton and the Grosvenor are closest to Downtown Disney. But the DTB buses are only going to get you to Disney-owned resorts; there are no buses between DTD and any of the theme parks.
The Hotel Plaza Boulevard properties have their OWN bus system that's MUCH more efficient in getting you to the various parks than trying to cross a very wide, very busy street, then boarding a Disney bus, then going to some resorr, then switching to yet another bus to get to a park.

the hilton and double tree guest suites are the best to me
you can walk to dtd from all of them

BP is the nearest to DTD. The Hotel Plaza have their own buses to the parks - unless it has changed the bus starts at BP and also drops first there on the way back.

I have stayed here 5 times! - To be fair the last time in 2004 the htoel was looking a little tired, but, it is having a huge refurbishment and the new rooms really look good. :cool1:

I didn't know that..... thank you very much.

But I have read reviews that say that the DTD resort shuttles are terribly crowded

Depends when you are going and which hotel you choose to stay in!

I stay at BP and never have a problem getting a bus or a seat....but I go in November!. I imagine that there could well be a problem with crowding if you are going more "in season".

In November the bus covers the whole of the Plaza - starting at BP and ending at Grosvenor and there are times (park opening for example) when the bus is full by the time we get to Grosvernor and people have to stand. other times during the day I rattle about on the coach with only a couple of other people.

When I went in season (April / May) there were 2 buses - one covered BP & Hilton only and the other all the other Plaza hotels, that was a few years ago though and it may have changed.
