Downtown disney questions.....

We are headed to wdw in April and are wondering what to expect at DTD. Is the parking garage open and is that helping at all with the parking and congestion? I've read that is has been horrible! Also wondering overall how much construction is going on there. Is it everywhere?? Is captain jacks margarita bar gone/relocated?

I am a local of sorts, and my husband works for Disney. My daughter and I were at DTD on Sunday, Feb. 15th. It was the first time in 2 months that I had been there. The parking deck on Westside is open, and since we were going primarily for Disney Quest, we parked on that side. I avoided the parking deck and parked in the new parking area behind Cirque de Soleil. I thought parking was easy and actually closer than the old lots were.

Construction is still going on, but the traffic flow was much better than the last time I was there.

Captain Jack's has been closed for a while now, so I would think the bar would no longer exist.

I just drove through that area a few hours ago...in the rain, rush hour (approx), and an accident in the right lane.
The place is a MESS!!!!
As I was sitting there and inching along...I was wondering, where do you even PARK? I saw some people walking along - but couldn't figure out where they were coming from or going to . But it seems they wanted to walk cross the street and all the road construction (and I thought, "you're taking your life in your own hands on THAT one!"). WHAT A MESS!
I LOVE downtown Disney - but am considering perhaps not going there this trip - or at least only taking the Disney Transportation (hope they have back entrances and don't have to travel on the main road) or the boat from Riverside.

The parking garage is open and is nice. I would avoid downtown Disney in the evening on weekends. But other than that, it's not too bad
