Last time we were at DTD..the McDonalds was closed down and blocked off? Anyone know if they have reopened it? Or was it torn down for something else?:confused3

It has been replaced by Pollo Campero, Fresh-A-Peel and Babycakes NYC. All better, healthier food options.

It has been replaced by Pollo Campero, DS12 had the Chicken legs and french fries, said he will choose elsewhere next trip. DH like the cupcake stand in the corner. I tried the fresh Sangria at the drink bar and wound up throwing it out, just horrible. Almost wish McDonald's were still there.

Be sure to dine on "Canola Oil and Tofu Surprise" in-between Mickey Bars.

;)

McDonald's stand-alone store at W. Buena Vista Dr. and Osceola Parkway, right near Blizzard Beach and the All-Star Resorts, had been completely remodeled just a short while ago. It looks very nice. :)

Sounds awesome, the world needs fewer McDonalds!

Do not come between a Nazgul and his "canola oil and tofu surprise". And by that I mean totally do come there, because the Nazgul's going to be going the other way.

Mollejas de pollo hervido, cocido a fuego lento en agua salada del mar, repartidos en cascarilla de arroz frío, con una pluma de adorno.

Just order a "Numero Ocho."

;)

Pollo is not being well received. On all 3 trips to DTD, place was virtually empty and one time they had a greeter at the door trying to wave people in. As much as I am not a MickeyD's fan, it seems it was fulfilling a need with families and young children. Not a good Disney Decision it seems.:confused3

Bingo!

Never heard of these places. Pollo Campero is a fried and grilled chicken place. To be honest, nutritionally speaking, it doesn't look any healthier than McDonald's.

As for the vegan baked goods at Babycakes NYC... while I'm sure it appeals to some people, no thank you. Also, the name Babycakes conjures up memories of a Neil Gaiman short story about cannibalism.

Cruelty free pastries certainly appeal to me!

I'm sure if no one told you they were vegan, you'd never know the difference. It's not like they're trying to pass off a slab of tofu as steak. Baking without eggs or milk is really no big deal at all if you understand the science behind it.

FYI, the Neil Gaiman story was what sick icon was actually related to.

As for whether I'd notice a difference with the eggs or milk, probably not. I've had egg free cake before. I don't think I've had gluten free cake before, though. Again, I'd probably not notice. But it's still not appealing, at least not at the prices I've seen on their website.

Pity they shut McDonalds in DTD as we used to always eat there.

I don't like the sound of the new establishment in it's place though, will have to drive somewhere else to eat after looking in the shops.

Even though it's not located on WDW property there is still a McDonald's located at the Crossroads Plaza on Lake Buena Vista/535 and it's right across the entrance to WDW that goes to Downtown Disney.

Never like that there was a McDonalds in DTD and never ate there. To be on vacation means eating someone else other than the the place on every street corner in America. I haven't been to DTD since Pollo Campero opened and I may or may not ever eat there simply because when I am on vacation, I really don't want what I consider "fast-food". Of all the options they could have brought in though too I was always confused about - never heard of these places before this and I think they could have done better plus I don't see them really promoting the place either.

I have to say that the fried plantains were really good...the flan on the other hand was horrible. Although its not a place I would go to everytime we go like WGPE it was different and not that bad

Have you tried Earl of Sandwich? We love it for a quick sandwich and wish they had one here at home! Soups, salads, hoagies, etc. It's over near the toy store.
