Downton Abbey

I was glad I saw the spoilers. I would of been crying way worse than I was.

I hate when the show ends.

So so so sad!!!

I am also glad I read the spoiler. I would have been worse, if had not been prepared for it.

This show just wraps you in. Just an incredible episode.

Tonights episode hit way too close to home. I had high blood pressure with both pregnancies & this was very much a 'There but for the grace of God & modern medicine go I'.

I cannot believe the emotions this episode brought out in me!
I didn't just cry, I SOBBED for 20 minutes.
Poor Tom, and poor baby girl.
I wonder if Cora will forgive Robert.

I did not read any spoilers before seeing tonight's episode. I feel traumatized. I can't even believe that happened. Seeing Thomas crying really got to me. He likes no one, trusts no one, but this made him sob like a little boy. And poor Cora! Oh, man... too much, too much!

I seriously cried during this whole episode. I knew it was coming I read the spoilers but it still was just so heart wrenching. Especially when Cora (Elizabeth McGov) was sitting there beside her bed after she died. Saying you are by baby........:sad2:. So sad.

Such a sad, shocking episode. Poor Sybil. I fear for the marriage of Cora and Lord Grantham. That doctor really ticked me of, Mr. Know-it-all!

On a side note, and please don't think I'm morbid, but I got on Pinterest, looking up things related to Downton Abbey and somehow stumbled upon Victorian Era Post-Mortem photographs. Since people rarely (except the rich) had photographs of any kind since they were so expensive, when their loved ones died, they would pose them and take a photograph of them-dead! Sometimes they would pose with the dead family member, it's as if they tried to make the dead person look normal and alive, in many instances the eyes were opened, looking completely normal.

Needless to say, this was like a train wreck and I couldn't stop looking. I had a very odd, night's sleep last night.

It's not morbid, and it's not just limited to the Victorian era, there's a network of professional photographers in the US that volunteer their time to an organization called "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep" that take some very moving post-mortem portraits of infants. Their web site displays some incredible examples, but have the tissues ready...

Last nights show was heartbreaking! I can't believe poor Sybil is gone. I don't blame Cora, she has a valid reason to be pissed. Can't wait to see next weeks show.

Congrats to the show for their SAG win!

I try to avoid this thread because I fear spoliers. I SOBBED like my own family member passed away last night. Isn't that nuts? She's a character and I sat there sobbing on the couch, holding my kitty.

I don't do spoilers so I had no idea it was coming. (Obviously as the show progressed, you knew something was going to happen but you know what I mean.)

My husband looks at me and says,"You really didn't know?" I said NOOOOOO! He accidentally found most of the spoilers for Season 3 while trying to catch up as he didn't watch 1 or 2 and is now as enthralled as I am.

I made him promise to not ruin anything for me in the future, either.

Such a good show last night. I love Cora even more. I can imagine myself reacting the same way.

Mrs. Hughes said it perfectly when she said to Anna and Thomas, "the sweetest spirit under this roof is gone." :sad1:

Saddest episode ever. :sad2:

I did not read spoilers! I was not prepared for that! I thought for a moment maybe she was going to have twins! :(

My DD's boyfriend sits with her while she watches her recorded shows...one being Vampire Diaries. Well today he came over, he and I were talking, and I told him I was mad because my favorite character was killed off last night. (he knows I love this show) Anyway, he said "well I'm sure she'll be back, they always come back, they are never really dead" I said "boy, you've been watching too much Vampire Diaries, this is real life, the only way she is coming back is as a ghost" LOL

I don't know why they just couldn't have made her slip into a coma, for a little while. I was so sad last night, then I got a little mad. Oh well, guess I will get over it.

I could see it coming, but I still kept hoping the local doctor would win the argument in time. Sooooo sad. :(

Do you think Tom will stay at Downton now?

I was heartbroken at Sybil's death, she was my favourite character. I just kept thinking 'she will come back to life!' But it didn't happen.

As another poster said, she left the show so they had no choice but to kill her off. It's a shame people want to leave the show and what else can they do but kill them? :(

I hate to say it, but upcoming episodes are just as sad, if not sadder. :(

Can this thread be spoiler free? If not, I will probably unsubscribe. I like the element of surprise, even in cases like last night. It was devastatingly sad but I'm glad I didn't know ahead of time.

I don't know how to discuss a TV show without discussing what happened on the TV show. If I hadn't seen the episode I would not open the thread and also, not have anything to say. I'm just saying.
