Down the Rabbit Hole Update Post 136 (6 July 2009) Two Rooms

aijom.jpg

So, on Friday morning, I woke up to a world of chaos. No, not the type of chaos you’ll find first thing in the morning at the place where the fastpasses are distributed at Toy Story Mania on Christmas day. No, this type of chaos was the kind of frenzied excited chaos that just screamed your attention. Well, it mostly screamed my attention because instead of the first 15 seconds of 4 Minutes to Save the World by Madonna and Justin Timberlake, I woke up to discover Shake It by Metro Station playing. Normally, my alarm is the aforementioned 15 second sample from iTunes. However, to hear Shake It playing and to see my mom dancing around my room with a grin on her face concerned and excited me.
Concerned, because I had always considered having the local hospital’s psych ward number on speed dial and because she never did that. Ever. It excited me because Shake It was my mom and mine’s Summer 2008 Anthem. So, when I got the crazy person to stop dancing around like a lunatic I asked her what got her so hyped up. With a grin, she told me that a miracle had happened. It. Had. Finally. Happened.
On Friday, March 6, 2009 is Ashburn, Virginia it was warm. It was 70 degrees!:woohoo: :yay: :dance3: In Northern Virginia during the entire Winter period it was freezing. No, not the 40 degrees kind of freezing. I mean, it was like 11 degrees (AKA freeze your *** off weather!) So, for it to be 70 degrees in March was a miracle. So, I jumped out of bed and began to dance around the room mirroring my lunatic mother as we celebrated another day closer to summer and warmer weather.
So, in honor of such a miracle, then next day (today, Saturday) my dad and I got up a bit early for us on a Saturday morning (8:30 AM) and drove up to DC. Now, from where we live, it is a 45 minute drive. However, it took forever to find a place to park because it was so busy.
**SIDE NOTE ALERT**
I guess I should give you some background on mine and DC's love affair. Ever since we first moved here when I was 3, I had been a DC freak. I could be a personal tour guide. I could give you more information on every thing in DC than any other tour guide. But, there are a few specific museums that I could live in. I am simply astonished by the National Air and Space museum. I live for Astronomy and love the fact there is a whole 'nother world outside of the earth that goes on for light-years. I love the fact that man has the ability to leave the ground and go high up into the air. So, I'm in love with the Air and Space museum.
I also am a sucker for the National Museum of Natural History. I could practically live in their ocean exhibit! I also love the National Museum of American Indians. I mean, any place that has fried bread and has as many displays as this one does I am in love with. Though it may not be a museum, I love the WWII museum. I love anything to do with World War II (can you get that I'm a history geek?).
**SIDE NOTE IN A SIDE NOTE ALERT**
Man, I've never done one of these. So awesome! Anyway, on the note of me loving WWII, I am particularly a fan of the Blitz and the evacuation of the English children. Love learning about that stuff.
**SIDE NOTE IN A SIDE NOTE OVER**
So, DC is pretty much my favorite place besides Disney World.
**SIDE NOTE OVER**
Anyway, I figured I'd gave y'all a mini-trip report of my day in DC. Our day started bright and early (8:30 AM). We got up, got dressed (skinny jeans, converse, old pink Hollister tee), and had a quick breakfast of fruit smoothies (strawberries and bananas) before packing into the car to go drive to DC.

It was a short 45 minutes full of rocking out to the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. But, eventually, we got to DC and began our scout to find a parking space. Well, we found a spot right in front of the National Air and Space Museum (score!) and took it. It was PERFECT. After we got out of the car we entered the National Air and Space Museum with an air of holiness. Then, we got tickets for the 10:25 showing of Space in 3D then whipped out our iPhones for picture time. However, my pictures won't load and I promised y'all an update this weekend so it's a give or take situation. Anyway, we saw Space in 3D and were in complete awe. In fact, my dad was so tired, that when one of the astronauts asked the audience a question, my dad responded. I laughed at him for a long time that day.
After Space in 3D we walked to the National Museum of American Indians. First, we saw the quicky movie they have on the fourth floor then looked around for a bit. Then, we went to the cafeteria to grab some of their fried bread (so yummy). Then, we ventured to the National Museum of Natural History. Then, we left DC completely and went to Jackson's in Reston for some lunch (Part of the Great American Restaurants Group) Anyway, it was super yummy. First we started off with the fried calamari
calamri.jpg

Then, I got the Waldorf Steak Salad (blue cheese, apples, grapes, celery, salad stuff, steak, and some really yummy dressing) while my dad got a crab cake sandwich (we were too busy eating to take a picture). Then, we got the flourless choclate waffle AKA the thing you CANNOT go to a Great American Restaurant and NOT order.

Sooooo yummy!
Then, after that, we did the march of errands. Which pretty much translates to go to bookstore, get two books, go to the mall to Bath and Body Works, find mom's birthday gift, go to Target for a nice pen (my mom has to do this secret leprechaun thing at school and the person she got filled out that they would like a nice pen). So, we spent 15 minutes debating in the aisle over what a nice pen was. We got some strange looks, I'm sure. Then, we ran to my mom's house to drop off said pen and then finally returned home to rest. May not sound like a lot, but it was. Painful, almost. So, now, I sit here wishing of Disney as I type my PTR and watching Anchorman (funniest movie EVER).
Happy Saturday!

Cool. I loved DC when I visited in 2000.

So, we all know a trip report would not be a trip report without pictures (well, actually, it could be; but it wouldn’t be quite as awesome ;))! So, I figured y'all would want to get a sort of preview of what you will be getting as far as pictures go when the updates come (my trip just has to come first:yay: ). Now, I will warn you, that I will try to give as many updates as possible when I get back but keep in mind I will have to be coordinating FOUR different camera sources. So, it could be kind of hard. However, that will not keep me from updating. I may even post an update without a single picture then go back and add pics. Yeah, I know, not very fun, but you'll survive;) . Now, let’s get rolling!

Miss Becca is the proud owner of a Canon SD600 (AKA: the shiny camera

See? I told you it was shiny!

This lovely picture was taken during our trip to Virginia Beach in Summer ’08. Our families split a beach house that was taken care of during the non-summer seasons. When we came back to see it, we discovered this beautiful addition. So, thus, you get your sample picture.

Dad
The last time we went to go visit family in St. Louis (where all of my dad's family lives even though nobody is from there) his Uncle Dick had this AMAZING camera. However, he recently got another AMAZING camera. SO, dear old Uncle Dick asks my dad if he wants his old camera. At first, my dad was a bit weary considering Uncle Dick hadn't told him what type of camera it was. Unknowing what was in store, he said yes and Uncle Dick left to go get the camera. Well, imagine my dad's surprise to see Uncle Dick come back with this beauty!

This lovely picture was taken when my dad and I visited Chicago last summer to visit more family. While insomnia can be a curse at times, it is very useful to take good sunrise pictures in beautiful places. So, with some creative placing, we got this lovely shot.

Moi
With me, I have two camera sources. The first, is my digital camera. Yes, I am the proud owner of a Kodak EasyShare C513. Be jealous! ;)

This picture was taken as we rode Magical Express to the wonderful place known as Walt Disney World during our August 2008 trip. We had just gotten on the bus when it started to rain. And I mean really rain. So, while on the road just outside of the airport I got this magnificent picture. Unfortunately, as soon as we got off of the bus I was soaked through in a matter of 10 seconds. But the picture sure if great!

Now, here is my second camera source. Yes, I am the proud owner of an iPhone. Now THAT is something to be jealous of! ::yes:: It has also a pretty good camera on it, if I do say so myself.

This picture was taken during out August 2008 trip just outside of the Toy Story Mania area. Yeah, no big story to be told here.

So, there you have it folks. But, since I feel nice, I'm going to add a few extras in. Added the words, but everything else was taken on my phone camera and completely un-edited.

I LOVE your castle pics at the end!!! I sooo Wish I could be there now!!!:cloud9:

So my dad called my future high school and asked if they had a ball park of when my orientation would be. The following conversation ensued.

Dad: Hi. My daughter will be attending <insert school name here> next year and I was wondering if you could give us a ball park of when the orientation date might be.
School: No, we don't know.
Dad: Ok, do you know when you will decide and announce it?
School: Oh, sometime in July
Dad: ....

Idiots. So, we said screw it, we're going to Disney anyway. Do they NOT realize people have to plan vacations? But, we're going to Disney!

This means we will be going on AUGUST 27TH THROUGH SEPTEMBER 6TH AND STAYING AT THE AKL VILLAS WITH A SAVANNAH VIEW:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Congratulations! You’ve made it this far to update #5 (I think, anyway… There is a reason I had to retake a retake during Math)! I now present you with your belated St. Patrick’s Day update (blame my dance teacher)!

This past Saturday my mum and I wandered into Wegmans for groceries and then planned to run into Target for something that I cannot remember (the shopping center is huge but you can tell it was designed by some young hotshot because if a woman or man with common sense had designed it there would be more than one entrance/exit). So, anyway, my mum sent me to the Asian section to get some special brand of soy sauce and while there, I looked around and noticed there were a lot of different signs of different countries. Then, I remembered that St. Patrick’s Day was coming up (one of my favorite holidays) and that I was ¼ Irish. Hmm…. (Can you see where I'm going with this?) So, Wegmans inspired me to write this update for you this evening.

So, let's start off with dear old dad. Dear old dad's parents came from two very different places. Dear old dad's dad was an Irish man born in Ireland (duh).
photo_lg_ireland.jpg

Dear old dad's mum was a French genius born in France (really, you’re kidding!)
paris-france.jpg

So, thus, dear old dad was born ½ Irish; ½ French. Then, he had yours truly who without dear old mum would be ¼ Irish and ¼ French. However, with mum’s genes mixed in yours truly became ¼ Irish,
ireland1.jpg

¼ French,
normandy.jpg

¼ Norwegian,
norway1.jpg

and ¼ Greek

In stereotypical terms, I’ve got the combination of a bad temper (true), the rudeness (depends on my mood), pronounce my W’s as V’s (no), and am loud (quite the opposite. I am quite shy when around people)

Becca, however, is very different. Becca’s mum’s side are natives to Arizona (Native American).
photo_lg_arizona.jpg

Becca’s dad’s side are German
germany.jpg

and British.
houses_of_parliament_city_of_london_england.jpg

So, thus, Becca is ½ Native American, ¼ German, and ¼ British with a bunch of other cultures mixed in. So, in stereotypical terms, she wears feathers (she’s dead afraid of birds like me, I don’t think that would work too well), grunts a lot (it’s more a mumble ;)), and poor hygiene (not really, but you wouldn’t think so after a soccer game)

So, this is your St. Patrick’s Day update. I will try to post sometime fairly soon, but I have four tests this week and a project due next week.

I'm kindof late on this because I never get around to reading my PMs but I just read this and I can't wait to hear more!
=)
