So, on Friday morning, I woke up to a world of chaos. No, not the type of chaos you’ll find first thing in the morning at the place where the fastpasses are distributed at Toy Story Mania on Christmas day. No, this type of chaos was the kind of frenzied excited chaos that just screamed your attention. Well, it mostly screamed my attention because instead of the first 15 seconds of 4 Minutes to Save the World by Madonna and Justin Timberlake, I woke up to discover Shake It by Metro Station playing. Normally, my alarm is the aforementioned 15 second sample from iTunes. However, to hear Shake It playing and to see my mom dancing around my room with a grin on her face concerned and excited me.
Concerned, because I had always considered having the local hospital’s psych ward number on speed dial and because she
never did that.
Ever. It excited me because Shake It was my mom and mine’s Summer 2008 Anthem. So, when I got the crazy person to stop dancing around like a lunatic I asked her what got her so hyped up. With a grin, she told me that a miracle had happened. It. Had. Finally. Happened.
On Friday, March 6, 2009 is Ashburn, Virginia it was warm. It was 70 degrees!

In Northern Virginia during the entire Winter period it was freezing. No, not the 40 degrees kind of freezing. I mean, it was like 11 degrees (AKA freeze your *** off weather!) So, for it to be 70 degrees in March was a miracle. So, I jumped out of bed and began to dance around the room mirroring my lunatic mother as we celebrated another day closer to summer and warmer weather.
So, in honor of such a miracle, then next day (today, Saturday) my dad and I got up a bit early for us on a Saturday morning (8:30 AM) and drove up to DC. Now, from where we live, it is a 45 minute drive. However, it took forever to find a place to park because it was so busy.
**SIDE NOTE ALERT**
I guess I should give you some background on mine and DC's love affair. Ever since we first moved here when I was 3, I had been a DC freak. I could be a personal tour guide. I could give you more information on every thing in DC than any other tour guide. But, there are a few specific museums that I could live in. I am simply astonished by the National Air and Space museum. I live for Astronomy and love the fact there is a whole 'nother world outside of the earth that goes on for light-years. I love the fact that man has the ability to leave the ground and go high up into the air. So, I'm in love with the Air and Space museum.
I also am a sucker for the National Museum of Natural History. I could practically live in their ocean exhibit! I also love the National Museum of American Indians. I mean, any place that has fried bread and has as many displays as this one does I am in love with. Though it may not be a museum, I love the WWII museum. I love anything to do with World War II (can you get that I'm a history geek?).
**SIDE NOTE IN A SIDE NOTE ALERT**
Man, I've never done one of these. So awesome!

Anyway, on the note of me loving WWII, I am particularly a fan of the Blitz and the evacuation of the English children. Love learning about that stuff.
**SIDE NOTE IN A SIDE NOTE OVER**
So, DC is pretty much my favorite place besides Disney World.
**SIDE NOTE OVER**
Anyway, I figured I'd gave y'all a mini-trip report of my day in DC. Our day started bright and early (8:30 AM). We got up, got dressed (skinny jeans, converse, old pink Hollister tee), and had a quick breakfast of fruit smoothies (strawberries and bananas) before packing into the car to go drive to DC.
It was a short 45 minutes full of rocking out to the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. But, eventually, we got to DC and began our scout to find a parking space. Well, we found a spot right in front of the National Air and Space Museum (score!) and took it. It was PERFECT. After we got out of the car we entered the National Air and Space Museum with an air of holiness. Then, we got tickets for the 10:25 showing of Space in 3D then whipped out our iPhones for picture time. However, my pictures won't load and I promised y'all an update this weekend so it's a give or take situation. Anyway, we saw Space in 3D and were in complete awe. In fact, my dad was so tired, that when one of the astronauts asked the audience a question, my dad responded. I laughed at him for a long time that day.
After Space in 3D we walked to the National Museum of American Indians. First, we saw the quicky movie they have on the fourth floor then looked around for a bit. Then, we went to the cafeteria to grab some of their fried bread (so yummy). Then, we ventured to the National Museum of Natural History. Then, we left DC completely and went to Jackson's in Reston for some lunch (
Part of the Great American Restaurants Group) Anyway, it was super yummy. First we started off with the fried calamari
Then, I got the Waldorf Steak Salad (blue cheese, apples, grapes, celery, salad stuff, steak, and some really yummy dressing) while my dad got a crab cake sandwich (we were too busy eating to take a picture). Then, we got the flourless choclate waffle AKA the thing you CANNOT go to a Great American Restaurant and NOT order.
Sooooo yummy!
Then, after that, we did the march of errands. Which pretty much translates to go to bookstore, get two books, go to the mall to Bath and Body Works, find mom's birthday gift, go to Target for a nice pen (my mom has to do this secret leprechaun thing at school and the person she got filled out that they would like a nice pen). So, we spent 15 minutes debating in the aisle over what a nice pen was. We got some strange looks, I'm sure. Then, we ran to my mom's house to drop off said pen and then finally returned home to rest. May not sound like a lot, but it was. Painful, almost. So, now, I sit here wishing of Disney as I type my PTR and watching Anchorman (funniest movie EVER).
Happy Saturday!
