Doubletree Suites Disney Springs

There is a special offer for $129 a night this summer, and it includes parking and in-room WiFi. The WiFi I won't use since it's not a secure connection, but given the fact that the resort now charges for parking, this seems like a good deal.

Anyone have any comments on the property? I haven't stayed offsite in years, but would appreciate the extra beds and space, though won't appreciate the lack of space to move around.

I personally have not stayed there but do not count being able to walk to Disney springs. That hotel is the farthest from the springs and is located right on the corner... they have an internal bus service to The parks but it kinda stinks.. if you have your own transportation that would be better

We walked to Downtown Disney from the Doubletree, but it's been quite a few years. And it is quite a hike.

I don't understand the part about not having room to move around. The rooms are suites; a living room and bedroom. There should be plenty of space.

I was just considering this place for a one night stay.... probably going to spend time at Disney Springs....maps puts it at a 17 minute walk, is that right?

We would rent a car. It is a far walk, having stayed at this properly a couple decades ago, before it was owned by Doubletree (forget the name of it then). It wasn't kept up that well then (again this was many years ago). I hope Doubletree takes better care of it (DT is usually a good brand from other experiences). I'm also wondering what's going on with Crossroads across the way (with Goodings supermarket. I heard they may be closing the plaza and tearing it all down to improve the highway. I think that would be terrible.

I should clarify. I mean not having a lot of room to move around the resort area outside. It's not like staying at a Disney resort where there is more to do at the resort in terms of pools, shops, etc., depending on which one. We like themed areas and being able to stroll around at our leisure. Wouldn't be able to do that here, although there would be the suite as opposed to a regular hotel room.

I have stayed there a few times. It is a nice hotel. The sofa bed is just ok but the other beds are great. I especially like the cookie they give you at the end of the day!
I would definitely stay there again.

This actually is the Mousesavers rate if you receive the newsletter. I should have mentioned this. It doesn't say it comes with free continental breakfast, though; just 20% off coupons for the hotel's restaurant. When you go to book on the site, it just mentions the complimentary parking and the WiFi (no coupons).

Just my opinion, but you can do better for $129/night. We rented a 1500 square foot 3 bedroom (surprise upgrade from the 2 bedroom we booked) for $129/night at Wyndham Bonnet Creek through Farrell Vacation last week. It is closer to the parks than Disney Springs hotels, free parking, free wifi and pools and activities that rival Disney deluxe resorts. Full kitchen to cook some meals and minutes to the parks. Only drawback is they do not offer a free shuttle, but you will have a car. Look on the Orlando Attractions forum to read a huge thread on this resort.

Thanks. I have heard of Bonnet Creek and drove last it many times. I believe it is the resort that is sort of hidden ... across from the original DVC resort. I would imagine there are a lot more "resort-type" things to do there.

It is pretty much across the road from Caribbean Beach. Several pools, hot tubs, small slides, two small lazy rivers, free mini golf, pool and ping pong tables, shuffle board, a lake with koi fish, activities center with lots of activities (some free, some $), gas grills and picnic tables, a small arcade ($), fire pits, bars with entertainment, karaoke and more. You would be hard pressed to find a Disney resort with so much to do. Not a guarantee, but we could watch Wishes and Illuminations from our balcony.

It's been a few years since we've stayed at the Doubletree but they told us to stop by every night and ask for a cookie so we did!

I'm sorry to hear you were in a car wreck. Dollar used to have specials on mini-vans (not sure if they do anymore). You can check Mousesavers for that, or do a search on DIS. 7 is a large group, so having the suite would be great. It sleeps 6 for certain. If you get a discounted room rate at a Value Resort, you could get 2 adjoining rooms (though, I think the discounted rates might price out to be $129ish?). I'm not sure what is do-able for you, so don't want to overstep my bounds. Is that regular link you mention the general Doubletree.com site? I saw a rate offered with breakfast for 4 adults, I believe., but it was $189 I think. Alternatively, you could look into the Sheraton Vistana Resort for a 1 bedroom/2 bedroom. Not sure that they have a shuttle, though.

What makes you not stay here for your whole trip?

At one point, we were doing 1/2 and 1/2 stays to enjoy two different resorts. Sometimes off site 1/2 and then on site 1/2. Now it's too much for us to pack up in mid-trip and move.

The regular discount link with Mousesavers from their site for the Doubletree includes Continental breakfast. Some times they get a different discount that comes via email and the current one has free parking and wifi instead of breakfast think and is around $129 a night. I put in some dates for September and the rate was $120 per night with the breakfast. We would get two suites at the Doubletree and not get a car, just rent a Mears van to and from the airport and walk to DS or Crossway for meals on off days and bus to the parks the rest of the days. At around $240 a night with no rental car it seems like a better deal to me that messing with a rental. We will see what mom and husband think when it gets closer. A rental condo at around $100 a night, $90 a day for rental van with full insurance (we live outside the US so have to purchase it) plus gas and $20 for parking at Disney on park days make the numbers pretty close but we would eat out less with a full kitchen we could stock with lots of snacks and grab and go foods, not sure how much we could stick in two mini fridges at Doubletree.
