Has anyone stayed here? Is it close enough to walk to parks? They offer free shuttle, but not sure of schedule. Going last week in July. Would love to stay onsite, but out of budget unfortunately!

My friend Julie stayed there a couple of years ago and she loved it. She said that it is about a 1 mile walk but they did it everyday instead of the shuttle. She said the shuttle hours were not good.

im going in a couple of weeks for the first time!

i booked my room online through their site because it was the cheapest way to do it...

i am planning on driving my car over the parks only because i know at the end of the day we will probably go somewhere OUT of the park to eat and this way we aren't so tired and just jump in our car and go get us something on the way back to the hotel.. i think there is a TGIF right next door, and a denny's.

I heard ppl can walk easily but there is a 10 busy lane highway you have to cross and walking down wooded paths are night doesn't sound too comfy.

Anyways Im going rooms already paid for and Im already ready to go! :cool1:

Please let me know what you think of the hotel. We are going in late July and already scheduled there but would like some input about the place.

I stayed there on my honeymoon. I really loved the hotel. We had a room that faced the parks on the 12th floor. It was great to see that! There is a restaurant on site as well as quick service, but its extremely expensive. We ate there once, and it was only OK. You do have to pay for parking, at least as of 2 years ago you did. The rooms are very spacious, with a huge comfy chair that was right by the windows! The pool area was nice, not themed, just a pool, but was fine as well. There is a chain restaurant that you could walk to, can't remember which one though right next to the hotel. As for walking to Universal. I wouldn't recommend it. For anyone that has been there, the walk from the parking garage is far enough, think about walking even further in the heat! The highway its on is very busy, but there are crosswalks, and a button to stop the traffic at the light for pedestrians. They do have a shuttle, but I don't know of the schedule, call the hotel to see what its like, they are very helpful there. Overall, the entire hotel was great! Be forewarned...off the front check in/out desk is another where you can buy your park tickets...they also try to lock you in for a timeshare presentation with Hilton Grand Vacations Club (we took them up on it and bought in, but its not for everyone). Its not high pressured just simply say no thanks when they offer the tour.

For close proximity off site from the parks, I do recommend this hotel. It was convienent, great price, clean, and comfortable! Have fun on your trip.

I've stayed at the doubletree one and at the surrounding hotels 3 other times. It's a real nice place:thumbsup2 It's less than 1/2 a mile to the enterance of Universal at the end of the garage is the valet parking that will take you right up to the moving walkways. It's a little remote for walking back if it's a late night but there is a taxi stand at the garage area for those nights.

There is a TGI Fridays and Dennys right across Major Blvd and a shopping center on the other side. There is also a iTrolley stand right beside the hotel that runs every 1/2 hour down to International drive and Seaworld. A day pass is $3 and a 5day pass is $5 works great if you don't feel like driving.

Stayed there last year and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Very clean, great rooms, nice staff....don't have a bad thing to say about it.

They even have gator bites available on the room service menu. :thumbsup2

Just curious how much was your booking price ?

I'm going for the first time there. After reading reviews on tripadvisor I have decided this Doubletree hotel is a better choice, especially geered towards non-smokers since it's a non smoking hotel. :yay: Sounds like some Orlando hotels have bed bugs and nasty rooms which I am petrified of. I found lots of cheap hotels, but I value my health too much to take the chance.

I just called today and the shuttle to Universal is at 7:50, 8:20 and there's another morning spot. Also unlike other hotel shuttles they take you there directly instead of going to other hotels to pick more people up.

hey fun fun,
thanx for the info on the shuttle, we did rent a car, incase we miss the morning shuttles! But I also booked this online and got the room for 5 nites and with tax for the 4 of us it came to 530. I think that is cheap, so I know its a great deal!
First time in Univeral, we dont know what to expect, but I`m sure it`ll be fun!
