We are looking at a trip in October and need a good double we're looking at the Spider, Peg Tender, Jane Power Twin, any recommendations? The boys will be 3 weeks and 2.5 years. A sit n stand isn't an option because the 2.5 year old has right side muscle tone issues and while he walks well tires easily. We'd like one that shades well from the sun and allows both to sleep comfortably. We stay on property and valet at the hotel so folding and unfolding tons doesn't really matter since often we leave it in the car over night and never use buses; mostly monorail or walking over to Epcot or MGM so we can wheel right to where we're headed. Thanks tons from the duo vets! :donald: :donald:

I have the Maclaren Ralley Twin. Not one of the ones you mentioned but I really like it!!! With a newborn baby I would actually probalby get the Techno b/c it has more things that might be beneficial for a newborn. I really liked the Peg stroller b/c it was light weight but it just didn't feel sturdy enough for my 3.5 year old. The Maclaren is a really sturdy stroller. folds down easily and has a carry handle.

I agree with PP, go for a Maclaren Techno. Maclarens are the easiest strollers to push with a heavy child, and the newer Techno models can hold 65 lbs on each seat, so it will last a long time.

Honestly, if you are considering a Spider Duo and a Jane, I'm not sure this board is the best place to ask about strollers. Pegs and Maclarens are about as fancy as it gets around here! Maybe try the strollerSWAP Yahoo group?

Personally, I drool over the Spider Duo... if you are strictly interested in which is best for WDW, probably the Jane, but for life in general, I'm not sure how you could beat the Spider.

anyone have a good idea for an infant (18 pounds )and a 3 year old (42 pounds). We currently have a peg perego tandem and i find it difficult to push because of the weight difference. Has anyone bought two single strollers and put them together with this kind of weight difference? Any suggestions would be great. Maybe i am expecting too much with this weight difference all strollers would be difficult to push??

We have the Graco Stadium Duo which is a tandem, I find its really easy to push and even with just one kid in it it's light. If you have a Graco infant carrier too you can use it on the rear seat, or you can lie baby down flat in the stroller seat it's self, both kids get sun shades which are removeable and it folds down small for eas or storage.

The front seat reclines and Shelby has no problems with sleeping in it at all.

I have to vote for the Maclaren! I have two boys, 17 months and 29 months. They both weigh between 25-30 pounds. This stoller provides for individual reclining seats, lots of shade and plenty of storage room behind. The ONLY drawback that I see with this stoller is that is does not have the longer, extendable leg section. (i was spoile dwith that on my single). This stroller is lightweight and super easy to fold. I don't think you could go wrong!

I would also disagree with the inference that only certain well to do people can afford this stroller. I purchased mine, new, on ebay for a decent price which was no more than I paid for my Graco Duo Stroller a year ago. So, be patient and keep an eye out for a good deal, it will be worth it.:goodvibes

Do you mean me? I was actually inferring that the OP likely has more to spend than most of us do. Compared to the strollers she's asking about, a Peg Perego or a Maclaren would seem cheap. Go ahead, look up a Stroll-air Spider Duo or a Jane PowerTwin. That's a seriously nice ride! Given the hordes of DIS'ers who usually recommend a Baby Trend Sit & Stand or a Jeep umbrella stroller, the OP just ain't gonna find out what she wants to know here.

Holy moly! 'dem some fine wheels! :lmao:

I don't know anything about strollers that exceed $500 (heck I was having a really hard time swallowing the $200 for my pp p3) but looking at the two, I think the Jane PowerTwin looks like it would be easier to push with the two kids. I would think that side by side you'd feel the weight difference and one side of your body where the older child sits would be hurting compared to the infants side.

What are the limitations at WDW though on the jogging stroller style? I thought they had a rule on it - not exceeding a certain size or something. The Jane PowerTwin would fall under that.

Thanks for the recommendations! I was torn on a side by side due to the huge weight difference in the kids at the time we'd be going there. I wish there was place I could 'test drive' them! I've seen some Jane Power Twins in WDW and thought maybe they were getting more popular. I'm leaning more towards the tandems for now and moving the kids into a Techno once the baby gets a bit bigger. I love hearing that everyone is happy w/the Maclaren doubles, we have 2 Quests and love it but wondered how that would be double wide.

I am currently using a Twin Techno with my 5 month old and 3 year old. I honestly don't really feel a difference from one side to the other when I push it. I think it is an awesome stroller and I researched like crazy before I bought it. The tandems I do feel a difference (although I did not push one that you speak of) sometimes when pushing them. Same with some of the "cheaper" side by sides.

Good luck with your decision:thumbsup2

Thanks for setting me straight!:thumbsup2 Now that I have been proven a complete and utterly ignorant stroller mom please accept my apologies, guess I was a bit touchy that day! Sorry! (Though I did look the other strollers up and now I'm drooling too, thanks a lot!):goodvibes

Umm, to the OP, your baby is going to be 3 WEEKS old? Then you will definitely need a stroller that can accommodate an infant carrier. You cannot push a 3 week old around in a standard double stroller. Even the fancier ones are meant for babies at least 3 MONTHS old.

You will have to look into something that can take an infant seat. That removes the Peg Tender and I believe the Jane as well. The spider may be able to accommodate your baby, since it looks like it's well cushioned and can fully recline. However, even then, the seat angle doesn't seem okay for a 3 week old. They need FULL body support at that age, as you know.

I would perhaps look into the Combi Twin Savvy. It does accommodate a carseat, but I am not sure if it takes all brands or only just the Combi seats.

Otherwise, you might be much better off taking one of those carseat carrying frames and a separate umbrella stroller for your 2.5 year old. The Maclarens are very lightweight, easy to push, and there are several models which will provide the kind of support your toddler needs. Don't rule out two strollers. We have a 14 month old and a 3 year old and we go to Disneyland about every 2 weeks. We have a Combi Twin Sport, but have found that it is actually easier to manage when DH and I each have one kid in a lightweight, easy to maneuver stroller. Plus, if one wants to nap, you don't have the other one RIGHT there yelling, kicking, or otherwise annoying the one who is trying to sleep, and you can fully cover the stroller with a blanket (we have to do this when they fall asleep or they will wake up too quickly) if you need to with two strollers. It's harder to do that with the doubles, especially the side by side models.

I beg to differ. only from my own personal experience that is.

we took a 6 pound baby to Disney (albeit a bit older, she was just a premmie) and never once took her carseat into the parks. She actually did much better on her tummy or back or was even fine at a slight incline.

that said, I have also noticed that the maclaren double does not seem to "notice" the difference in weight (trial runs only, I went with 2 singles) as opposed to some of th elese expensive ones.

You lose me entirely once you start talking over $500 tho. not my cup of tea!

let us know what you decide and end up with, love to hear what works best!

I am in the same boat looking for a double. I am leaning towards the Phil and Ted's although I wish somewhere around here sold them so I could see them in person. I would be very hesitant to get the Stroll Air - that thing weighs 37 pounds! I am not a fan of Maclaren, so I doubt we'll be getting that one. Please let us know which one you get.

There is another option besides keeping baby in a carseat the entire time - many strollers have carrycots that can replace the seat so baby can lay flat. The Spider has one, Mountain Buggy offers it, and there are others. It's just not found on Evenflos and Gracos.

Some research has shown that little babies have a hard time keeping their oxygen saturation levels up while sitting in their carseats, so these carrycots help with that. They can also help prevent the "flat head" problem that some babies have.

Of course, mom could always wear the baby for part of the time too.

The new Peg Tenders take the infant carrier in the back seat now which was a major factor in making htat one of our choices incase anyone else was wondering. When we took our oldest son at 9 weeks he just sweated alive on the few occasions he was in the infant carrier and stroller so we just laid him flat most of the time in the stroller b/c it would ly completely flat.

We have basically decided to get the Spider mainly for some of the reasons stated above the baby can lie flat and it will also accomodate an infant carrier on one side and the seat for the toddler on the other or the carry cot. Once the baby is a bit older we'll go with the Techno Maclaren instead since it looks lighter and I think once our oldest can get in and out on his own that'll be more accomodating.

Once it comes I can give a review of what we think I love getting new baby gear, makes waiting for the baby feel like it's going a smidge quicker!

We just got back from a trip with a three year old and a two month old. We took a single stroller and took turns carrying the baby in a front carrier. This worked well for most of the trip. I felt more secure on the rides with DD in the carrier.

You'll love the Spider!! It's a great stroller and full of nice little luxuries for baby! My Auntie Kathleen had one when my little twin cousins were born. She loved it except for it being hard to get in and out of doorways sometimes. She switched over to the Jane Powertwin when the girls were about two. But she loved her Spider!

have a great time and congrats on your newest little one!!!:goodvibes

I respectfully disagree that the OP's child should be in a car seat while in the parks. Many doctors reccomend that infants not be left in car seats for extended periods of time. In addition, I noticed that my children were much more comfortable and much cooler in the stroller. Depending on when you are traveling this may be a thought. It get mighty hot in Flordia.
