Has Biden claimed that the driver was drunk? Yes.

I'm sincerely sorry that Biden lost his family. My younger brother died in a scuba diving accident, so I know how much it hurts to lose someone you love. It would never occur to any of us to lie about the accident. It's tragic enough that Biden lost his family w/out his embellishing the facts.

My original post on this thread was directed towards a poster who was poking fun at the situation. I find that unacceptable.

And this is with my knowledge on the accident and the discrepancies reported in regards to that day.

Both families suffered a horrible tragedy.

But, to poke fun at the situation and to accuse Joe Biden of "playing for sympathy" when the reality of the situation is that he lost his wife and child is disgusting. And my opinion on that will not change.

How sad is it that we choose to attack a man who suffered a horrible horrible tragedy. How dare someone say Joe Biden is "playing for sympathy".

It's disgusting. It's not funny...it's not appropriate...it's not okay.

We all have tragic events in our lives...and who are you (or anyone else for that matter) to pass judgment on a tragedy that someone else has experienced.

John McCain has had tragic events in his life as well. He is a truly honorable man. And the things he has experienced in his life are too horrible to speak of for many people. The thought of the things he has had to endure in his life could bring a person to their knees.

Would you say he is using these instances in his life for political gain?

Before you pass judgment on a person's tragedy and the way in which they have dealt with that tragedy...keep in mind that we all have tragedy in our lives. All of us. And the same things that you are accusing Joe Biden of doing...some have accused John McCain of doing. Do I think that either of them are using the tragedies in their lives for political gain? No. But, some feel the need to spin it that way. So be it.
