double row of teeth on a 6 year old

What the heck is this?? My 6 (very near 7) year old has teeth growing in behind his bottom baby front teeth. Yikes! His baby teeth are not even thinking about faling out. They dont even budge when you try to wiggle them. Anyone else have a child with this? He's loving it since he calls them Shark Teeth... but I know a dentist visit is our near future. I cant stand to think of them getting pulled out. But this can not be good... I'm telling him to wiggle the begeebers out of those babies!

they wont come out on their own. go to dentist, he will pull the baby teeth, and the sooner you do the better chance for the others to move into the correct position.

This happened to both of my youngest DS (6) front bottom teeth a few months ago. Now his baby teeth were already loose so I did not go to the dentist.

It sure was weird looking he thought it was cool.

I would probably take your DC to the dentist to have them look at it.

I hate to sound like an echo, but - get to the dentist. My son had 2 teeth pulled recently because of that. If you don't get those baby teeth out soon it will seriously mess up the adult teeth. You'll be stuck dealing with braces if they grow in wrong because of the baby teeth.

That happened with my daughter, and her teeth weren't loose. We went to the dentist, they said those teeth will loosen the baby teeth and push forward. And...I can't remember the time frame (probably about a month guessing), her baby teeth eventually did come loose, and the ones behind did eventually move forward...but I honestly thought they never would!!

Guess other people have had to have the teeth pulled though, so always safe to check with the dentist...

This happened to me when I was little. My mom took me to the dentist who told mom to make sure she took my picture without my front teeth the moment I lost them because the permanent teeth would move in within the next day. They did.

That happened to my DD and the dentist gave her 2 weeks to wiggle them and get the baby teeth out on her own. He even suggested she eat frozen milky way bars. She got 2 out but had to get the 3rd pulled. He was so gentle, she did not even know he pulled it!

My nephew had that and the dentist ended up having to pull 10 of the baby teeth out- he looked like a shark with that double row of teeth in there! What did the dentist say on his last visit??

This happened to my son too. I asked my dentist and they told me if they didn't fall out within so long they could pull them. They weren't loose at the time but they ended up falling out within the time frame. The others moved right in. Call your dentist see what they say and go with you gut. We had an over zealous dentist for our youngest children that I questioned. I thought he was the professional so he must be right. Today I find out they were holding my DD's (who was 3 at the time) nose to make her open her mouth. She told me that she thought he was trying to kill her. Now I am regretting all those times I thought something was off. We had already left the practice because I couldn't shake the bad vibe. Beauiful place, best of everything, children's speciality dentist, everyone goes there kind of place. Trust your gut. Sorry to rant...

My dd had shark teeth and the dentist said not to worry this is very common. The shark teeth ended up pushing on the baby teeth and made them loose and eventually they fell out.

My DD12 had this happen. Both of my kids lost teeth later that ALL of their friends. (the dentist said this was a good thing) but DD had 2 teefus that wanted to grow in even though the baby teeth weren't out yet. They weren't even loose AT ALL. The other two teeth started poking out and he yanked the baby teeth. Her top row is straight but her bottom row has issues where those two were trying to grow in. She'll need braces eventually but not till she loses her last two back teefus. Can't wait till the 12 yr molars show up!

One of my kids had the double row of teeth on the bottom. The dentist said it was not a problem and that the baby teeth roots would dissolve and they'd fall out soon. That's what happened. This child has the most beautiful mouthful of straight permanent teeth unlike his siblings who are all going to need some serious braces. So I don't think the double teeth were a problem at all in his case but apparently sometimes they are so you'll want to talk to a good dentist just to be sure.

We just went through this with my six year old. It is very startling when you first notice it!

My son's two baby teeth were loose and I told him to keep wiggling them whenever he thought about it (I noticed later that he went and made a notation on his chore chart. He wrote "TEF" - for "teef". ). Anyway, like I said, they were already loose and it took about a month for them to come out (they could have come out sooner, but he wouldn't let us pull them). The last one just came out last week and the two teeth that were behind them are moved up, almost in line now with his other teeth.

I have the opposite problem with my 7 year old. He lost his 2 front teeth in mid-November, and there is still no sign of adult teeth coming in. Shouldn't they be coming in after 3 months? My older sons teeth always came in within a month of the lost baby teeth.
